"Stupid humans. Even if you commit suicide, you still can't destroy me."

Kanbaru watched silently as the Menos Grande's massive form crumbled, its towering figure collapsing to the street below with Reiatsu fading like smoke in the wind.

He blinked, eyes twitching.

"…What the hell was that about?"

Rangiku Matsumoto walked up beside him, equally stunned.

She stared at the fallen Menos.

"I've seen Menos fight to the death. I've seen them run away. But suicide…? What kind of Hollow kills itself mid-battle?"

Kanbaru sighed, deadpan.

"Maybe he was just… sad."

"Huh?" Rangiku tilted her head in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Kanbaru crossed his arms, speaking solemnly as if reciting a tragic ballad:

"Imagine… He wandered across Hueco Mundo searching for his father. One day, he meets Old Wang and excitedly asks, 'Uncle Wang, are you my father?'"

"Old Wang replies: 'No, I'm the father of the eldest son.'"

"Still desperate, he seeks out Taishang Laojun, bows deeply and asks, 'Uncle Laojun, are you my father?'"

"Laotian sighs. 'No, I'm the father of Red Boy.'"

"Heartbroken. Disillusioned. That's when he gave up on everything…"

Rangiku blinked slowly. Then smirked. "Goddamn it… Old Wang?"

Kanbaru shrugged.

"Probably just a textbook case of chuuni syndrome. You know the type. Being defeated by someone else was a disgrace to him, so he offed himself before I could land the finishing blow."

Rangiku chuckled and leaned slightly into his shoulder, giving a teasing smile.

"Well, you saved me. That's gotta earn you a reward. What do you want?"

Kanbaru opened his mouth—then paused, face flushing as her soft body leaned further in.

"W-What I want… Um… Swimsuit? Black stockings? Twin tails?"

His mind spiraled.

Rangiku rolled her eyes and gave him a light slap.

"Idiot. Move! You're breathing into my ear."

Kanbaru coughed awkwardly but silently agreed with one thing.

She smelled… really nice.

As she walked away, Rangiku suddenly turned her head, her eyes curling into crescents.

"But really, Kanbaru… thanks. I mean it."

With a smile that could melt glaciers, she disappeared into the streets of Karakura Town.

Kanbaru stood in silence, basking in the lingering scent in the air.

Then his gaze shifted.

"You've been watching for a while," he said quietly. "Are you planning to stand there all day?"

Footsteps sounded on the gravel.

Clack. Clack.

A tall figure approached, his hands in his pockets, looking down at the remains of the fallen Arrancar.

"Adjuchas-class, wiped out like that… You're something else, brat."

Ginjo Kugo's voice was calm, but his eyes betrayed a flicker of intrigue.

He knew well—an Adjuchas-class Arrancar was equivalent to a captain-level Shinigami.

Only someone with equal or greater power could have defeated one so easily.

Kanbaru glanced sideways, and system entries instantly rolled through his mind.

> [Last night I finally couldn't resist and called you. You answered, crying. But a man picked up. I think… you must've been getting a pedicure. I still love you.]

[Prove in advance that this is not my diary. Who writes diaries anymore?]

[Ginjo Kugo: Wields both Shinigami power and Fullbring (Spirit King Fragment). Cautious. Will do anything to survive. Once a man of justice, but after witnessing the rot within Soul Society, turned rogue. Occasionally helps others—without compromising himself.]

Kanbaru shrugged.

"A small fry like me doesn't deserve your attention, right?"

Ginjo Kugo chuckled.

"Small fry? You're stronger than most captains."

Then his tone shifted.

"I saw you getting cozy with that Shinigami… not trying to pry, but if you're smart, you'll keep your distance."

He sneered.

"You have no idea what they're really like."

"Justice? Balance? Protecting humans?" Ginjo spat to the side. "They're just hypocrites in robes."

Kanbaru met his gaze, voice cool.

"I know… probably more than you think."

"Do you?" Ginjo arched a brow, then slowly nodded.

"Well, good. Then here's some advice. Don't trust them. If you want to live, don't ever fully trust a Shinigami."

He lit a cigarette, exhaling smoke as he continued.

"You're Quincy, aren't you? I've been tracking a few. Someone's been hunting you down."

He leaned in.

"Tsunayashiro Tokinada."

Kanbaru's eyes narrowed.

"Why are you telling me this?"

Ginjo shrugged.

"Maybe I think you're interesting. Or maybe because if Tokinada hasn't already noticed you… he will soon."

That name again—Tsunayashiro Tokinada.

One of the Four Great Noble Houses. A man with power, wealth, and absolute immunity.

Ginjo's expression darkened as he spoke.

"He's been targeting the Quincy for years. And the Soul Society just lets him do it. Back then… I still had my position as Substitute Shinigami. I tried reporting him."

"They ignored it. Called it nonsense."

He clenched his fists.

"That was the day I knew—the weak are just pawns to them. Unless you're strong, you're nothing."

Ginjo disappeared from Soul Society under the guise of being "killed by a Hollow." He'd gone underground, hiding in Naruki City's Seventh District, gathering Fullbringers to build an organization of survivors.

Those who didn't join?

He hunted them.

Stole their powers.

Survived.

It was cruel. But necessary.

"This visit to Karakura is brief. I've got other business."

He tossed the cigarette and gave Kanbaru one final smirk.

"But I hope we meet again, kid."

With that, he melted into the crowd.

Kanbaru stood still.

"…Tsunayashiro Tokinada."

The name stirred something deep. He recalled Tōsen Kaname—the blind idol of justice. The one whose closest friend, Kanoe Utamasa, had once married Tokinada.

When Utamasa reprimanded Tokinada for killing a fellow Shinigami, Tokinada silenced her… by murdering his own wife.

Even after slaying his wife and numerous Shinigami, Tokinada—shielded by his noble status—was never punished.

Even the Central 46 turned a blind eye.

Later, he mocked Tōsen, manipulated him like a pawn.

That's why Tōsen hated Soul Society. That's why he became a traitor.

But that… that was just the beginning.

Tsunayashiro Tokinada was far more dangerous than anyone knew.

Originally the lowest heir in his family, Tokinada murdered his relatives to claim the title of clan head.

Everyone knew—and no one punished him.

Such was the weight of nobility in the Soul Society.

Untouchable. Untamed.

Monstrous.

But that was only part of the truth.

Tsunayashiro Tokinada had ambitions far beyond the Soul Society.

He sought to become the Soul King.

To do so, he needed experiments. Guinea pigs.

The Quincy.

"…He's already begun experimenting," Kanbaru muttered.

He could feel it—Tsunayashiro's shadow was everywhere. From Soul Society's inner rot to the manipulation of history.

He wanted more than power.

He wanted to rewrite the world.

And the man-made Soul King plan?

That was just the next phase.
