Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Boss 4

"..."

Senzo couldn't help but roll his eyes after hearing Yo's introduction, but it wasn't totally unexpected.

"Really... Was that really necessary?" Magi muttered, trying to keep a straight face.

Yo awkwardly scratched his cheek. "But am I wrong?"

"..."

Magi couldn't believe it. Did he really just do that?

His hand formed into a fist. He sneakily moved behind Yo, and without hesitation, rubbed Yo's hair—making sure to let him feel his knuckles.

"Hmph! That's what you get."

Yo held his head between his hands, trying his best to play it cool, but Magi had gone too far.

"Ouch, was that really necessary? Just because I introduced us?" Yo asked, glaring at Magi.

But before Magi could reply, he heard chuckling coming from his right.

Yo and Magi both turned their heads to see the woman and the teenage boy, chuckling. Clearly trying their best to hold it in but failing miserably.

"Sorry, sorry," the woman said, feeling the gazes of everyone on her.

"I'm Konya Emi, and these two are my children."

Pointing at her two children, she urged them with a wink to introduce themselves.

"I'm Konya Naosuke," the boy shyly said, trying his best to not hide behind his mother.

The little girl, on the other hand, kept staring at Yugiri, who was firmly seated on Sophie's lap with a relaxed smile.

"I'm Konya Asako." Without hesitation, she walked straight to Momiji and sat down on her lap.

"Asako! What are you doing?" Emi exclaimed, her eyes shooting wide open.

But before she could say anything else, Momiji interrupted her.

"Don't worry, I don't mind, and you two are looking pretty tired. Why don't you take a nap?" Momiji calmly proposed, patting Asako's head.

At first she had been quite confused as to why this little girl would just do that, but after seeing her start dozing off almost immediately, it suddenly all made sense.

And while they were all getting to know one another, Senzo was quietly slipping away, straight toward the boss room.

There's no more time to waste; let's speedrun this damn dungeon!

After making sure he was far enough away, he formed a massive invisible wall behind him to prevent anyone from accidentally wandering deeper into the dungeon.

"Let's do this!"

He muttered to himself, smacking his chest a couple of times to pump himself up. After that, he formed a single greatsword and tightly grasped its handle.

Now was not the time to worry too much about resources and all that nonsense; that could be left for later when there weren't human lives at stake.

With firm steps he made his way straight through the massive safe zone. How big is this damn thing even?

He had been walking at a decent pace for about fifteen minutes, and he still hadn't even caught a glimpse of this so-called boss room.

"Do they scale based on how difficult the dungeon is? Or is every single one this damn big?" Senzo grumbled, but that was definitely something he had to figure out later if he wanted to truly understand dungeons and their intricacies.

"Flipping finally!" After a couple more minutes of walking and complaining to no one in particular, he finally saw it: in the distance, two massive doors stood open, and a weird rumbling sound came from inside.

"Let's see what the so-called boss is going to be."

Senzo felt his whole body tense with expectations, but a moment later he couldn't help but shiver.

"Don't tell me it's going to be related to what I saw on the floor..."

That thought alone extinguished any and all excitement he had for it.

Shaking his head a couple times, he rid himself of the thought and quickly made his way toward the open doors.

A moment later he stood right in front of the doors, and what he saw inside left him speechless.

One massive spider sat on top of a web the size of a skyscraper, but unlike the previous spiders he had faced, this one looked even more disgusting and terrifying.

It had sixteen bright pink eyeballs on its head, and liters of bright pink saliva were leaking out of its mouth every second.

"Fuck me..." Senzo grumbled, staring at the thing in pure horror. "It must be the size of a damn house... And the f-floor..." There was no floor in sight—just a bright pink swimming pool of deadly acid spit.

"Let's just get rid of it as fast as possible and then this whole fucking thing."

Before Senzo entered the room, however, he had to test something first. Could he summon the four horsemen here or not?

"Death," he said.

But as the seconds slowly passed, it didn't look like even here he could summon them.

"Well, that was expected. I am still in the safe zone after all."

Then he entered the boss room, making sure he wouldn't touch the disgusting spit that covered the whole floor.

Walking on his vector platforms, he rushed straight to the edge of the round-shaped room where the massive spider waited.

And the moment he entered the room, the whole room, together with the safe zone, started shaking.

"What now?"

But all he could see were the doors slowly closing. With a loud bang, they sealed shut.

"Looks like I'll need to kill you to get out of here, huh? No wonder everyone who entered died..."

While talking to himself, Senzo seemed to realize something as he looked around for any traces of human corpses, but unfortunately he saw nothing.

"Well, with all that corrosive spit, it makes sense."

Then with a wave of his hand, the four horsemen suddenly appeared once more, all of them standing right next to each other on the platform Senzo had formed for them.

Looks like only the safe zone is an issue; good to know.

"What do you want?" War asked, crossing his arms.

"Heh, look behind you," Senzo replied, pointing at the massive spider.

"Oooh, now this is worth my time! Um, brothers, could you please leave this one to me?" War meekly asked, doing the cutest pose he could possibly pull off with his massive frame.

"Fine by me." Death stated, taking a seat on the invisible platform.

He'd much rather let the brute handle the tedious work and study what he was standing on; it was marvelous.

"Well, if De agrees, who am I to complain? Do your thing, War." Famine added.

And Pest just nodded, dismissively waving him away.

"Alright, just watch, master. I'll show you a show!" War exclaimed as two massive hammers appeared in both hands.

"???"

The other three horsemen were used to his eccentric behavior and didn't even bat an eye at the weird weapon choice.

But Senzo found it quite strange. Well, it's none of my business as long as he properly beats it.

"Do you want any help with platforms?" he inquired.

"Nah," was all he could hear before War jumped down and landed straight into the pool of acidic spit.

"Uh? Are you all sure he's going to be okay?" Senzo asked the others, who weren't even watching anymore.

"He'll be fine, master. Just relax and enjoy the show," Death said casually, still fascinated by Senzo's vector manipulation.

He had seen a multitude of abilities under different masters, but this was a first even for him.

"Alright."

After hearing Death say that, Senzo decided to just let it be and carefully observe the battle.

He took a seat to carefully observe War.

"Hahahah, now this is it. Violence!" War exclaimed, and even though he was standing in a massive pool of acidic spit, his armor was still in pristine condition, like it wasn't even there.

"Get over here, you fatso!" he declared.

And it was like his voice had a passive taunting effect because the massive spider jumped straight down from its web, landing right in front of War.
