Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Speedrun 3

They had finally arrived at what Senzo estimated to be the halfway point, and while scratching his chin, he got a weird feeling.

It felt like countless eyes were spying on him from somewhere; it felt bizarre and very unpleasant.

"Stay alert; I feel like things won't be so peaceful from now on."

"Understood," the four horsemen said, but they didn't look worried at all.

"!!"

Suddenly War stopped, extending his hand to signal for the others to stop momentarily as well.

"What's wrong?" Senzo asked, raising his eyebrow.

"The spectral warrior we just sent down has died."

"Hmm, so I guess it really is a type of void," Senzo muttered, but he couldn't be sure.

Maybe it was due to something else; sadly, there aren't enough resources to carefully study it right now.

"Interesting," Death murmured; he was becoming more and more intrigued by these so-called dungeons.

"Let's leave that for later; right now we need to get through this damn corridor first!" Senzo ordered.

And a moment later they all started walking forward again, but that strange feeling of being watched didn't go away; on the contrary, it only became worse with every step forward they took.

"!!!"

Suddenly Senzo saw hundreds of those weird shadow-like humanoid creatures he had faced on the first floor jump out of the floor at the same time, aiming all their needle-like arms at him.

And then just as fast as the vision appeared, it also disappeared. What!?

Senzo couldn't understand what the hell was going on. Was there a monster capable of pulling him into such a realistic illusion here?

"Stop!" he said, looking around restlessly.

It hadn't happened yet, but he had to be extra careful; if hundreds of those monsters were really waiting in ambush, it wouldn't be easy to deal with them all.

"Death, use oblivion pulse at full force aimed at the floor, and prepare to engage that weird shadow creature that I faced on the first floor."

"??"

Death looked at Senzo with a slightly tilted head, but he still obeyed the order.

And a terrifying black smoke was released from his bony feet; he didn't know why the master would ask that, but he must have found out something.

Senzo kept his full attention on the ground; once the black smoke had fully integrated with the floor, they finally jumped out. The number of creatures was massive.

"Shit!" Senzo exclaimed, while swatting away tens of them with a simple swing of his arm.

Death's and the others' eyes widened for a mere moment before they also started engaging with the creatures that had jumped out of the floor.

Luckily he told me to do that, or it could have been seriously bad. Death mused, impressed by Senzo.

And what followed was pure carnage, because the monsters had been significantly weakened by Death's oblivion pulse; they could barely exert fifty percent of their true power.

And soon enough Senzo could relax a little in the middle of the four of them, only dealing with the occasional one that broke through.

War was rapidly swinging his massive greatsword, cleaving all the monsters that dared to approach him clean in half.

The same went for Death, the only difference being he was becoming stronger and stronger as the battle raged on.

"Heh."

And while those two were doing their thing, Pest and Famine weren't far behind in kill count; the strange thing was that neither of them had a weapon and barely needed to move.

The monsters that merely approached Pest looked like they were deathly ill, with weird green glowing patches forming on their bodies, and before they could fly past him to attack the human, they fell down lifelessly.

As for Famine, every creature that approached him thinned rapidly; it looked like their life force was forcibly being absorbed by something, and if one could resist long enough to try attacking the large skeleton, Famine just gave it a light punch, pushing it back to where it came from.

"Impressive," Senzo muttered, while crushing another one that had managed to sneak through.

With the four of them surrounding him, he had it relatively easy, but that didn't mean he could let his guard down; those bastards could jump out of the floor and appear right under his nose.

"Well, with your warning this has become pretty simple, but master, how did you know these guys were here?" Death inquired, while cleaving through three of them at once with his scythe.

Even he couldn't feel their presence; it was like they could hide themselves perfectly as long as there was any shade.

"That's the weird part; I got a vision that the moment I took another step, they would jump us all, and I'm not sure why or how I decided to trust that vision," Senzo explained, swatting a couple of them away.

The monsters were then crushed into paste; he wasn't going to take any risks considering their weird characteristics.

"I see..."

And finally, after what felt like forever, no more of those weird monsters were jumping out of the floor.

"So what now, master? Do you want to rush through it now, or do you think there are going to be more?" Famine asked, looking at the weird liquid-like thing on the floor.

Even though those monsters were very bizarre, they apparently still had blood in their bodies? It was rather horrifying.

"Death, keep sending out oblivion pulses at regular intervals, and be prepared to engage them at a moment's notice. We'll speed up a bit; call the spectral warriors back as well, War. We'll have them stay close to deal with them faster."

The four horsemen nodded their heads in unison, and off they went; their pace was now a light jog, but no one was fooling around.

They were lucky because of Senzo's vision the first time, but if something like that were to happen again, who knows what the result would be next time?

While they were jogging through the long corridor, Death was rather frequently sending that black smoke into the ground, and luckily it looked like those were the only monsters here.

Because they could finally see the exit, a ray of light in this almost pitch-black corridor.
