Chapter 33 - Ombre & Rokre

Showing up before this salty adventurer, what reaction other than fury was he expecting?

Noticing the uniform Ombre was wearing, the adventurer sneered.

"You only got to where you're at thanks to connections!"

When they heard this, the other staff members each got up one after another. Their expression carried traces of anger.

"What are you saying to Sir Ombre—"

"Stop!"

With a wave of his hand, the black-haired young man stopped his team from saying anything further.

"What he's saying is indeed true..." he said with pressed lips, as his eyes carried a hint of guilt. "I would never have gotten here without his help."

From this, it was obvious to everyone that Ombre had a high position in Alequessa's Convoiery and was well respected by his coworkers. Though it seemed like he did not think he deserved such respect...

"But Ombre! You can't just let anyone trample over you," a staff member cried out while gritting his teeth in frustration.

They wanted the black-haired youth to stand up for himself, but deep down, they were worried about his safety. Ombre was only a single-star holder, and he was facing a violent man at the 2-Star mark.

Hearing what the worker had to say, Ombre shot him a glare that instantly shut his mouth.

Then, he turned back to the adventurer and calmly opened his mouth.

"You can say whatever you want about me, but let my subordinates alone." he paused.

"Now, either you just pay or leave."

Ombre was offering the adventurer two simple choices, but he had already refused once, so why would it change now?

"Seeing how you're little underlings protect you, you must have a high position here," he demanded rhetorically.

Then, the adventurer fixed his posture and made himself appear bigger before facing Ombre, trying to intimidate him.

"Why don't you cover my tab instead?" he asked, licking his lips with a wicked grin. "I will generously let this matter and the disrespect you've shown me slide if you do."

The black-haired youth frowned at this. He and his team had only done their job; the adventurer was the only one stingy enough to create trouble over this.

Yet, instead of apologizing, he was asking them to pay for his ride!?

Ombre's aura and demeanor quickly shifted from strict politeness to a surging tide of fury. The hands resting at his sides clenched into tight fists, and even his ink-black eyes flashed with a cold glint.

By looking at his body language, it was clear to the crowd that Ombre was going to reject his requests.

This scene caused some to look on anxiously while others were pouring oil over the fire, hoping there would be an entertaining fight between the two.

"He's not gonna pay! You should teach him what respect is!" someone in the crowd shouted while encouragingly raising his fist to Ombre.

"You're right, motherf*cker! It's unfair that we, lower-ranked, should pay!" an adventurer sharing a similar situation cheered for the big and mean guy.

Under the influence of those brazen proclamations, the situation only escalated as new people continuously chimed in.

"Unfair! Unfair! It's too unfair!!!" adventurer of rank E and lower shouted, as if it were their war cry.

On the other hand, non-adventurers shouted even louder profanities.

"Beat this stupid homosexual's ass right now!!"

Soon enough, two sides had clearly formed among the crowd: Ombre's supporters and the adventurers' ones.

Of course, not everyone wanted to see violence in broad daylight, but these people were a minority and most of them had already left anyway...

Far from where all the heat was happening, the silver-haired girl wandered around, trying to find somewhere to sit. When Seraphina finally found an unoccupied seat, she comfortably installed herself as her gaze turned back to the ongoing scene.

The High Priestess was going to stay even if it did not interest her; however, now that the black-haired youth was here, she did not want to stay simply out of duty anymore.

'I've got around thirty minutes left until departure anyway...' Seraphina told herself as she counted the remaining time using her fingers.

'...And, it'll be a good opportunity to see what Ombre can do now too...'

Taking out a mildly poisoned fruit from her pouch, the silver-haired girl lightly bit it with her white baby teeth before refocusing on the unfolding scene.

Inside her vision, she could catch most of what was happening, even with tall men blocking her way.

The E-Rank adventurer had just unsheathed his sword and was now pointing it at Ombre!

"I never asked for your name," the black-haired man said as a matter of fact.

He was looking straight at the other man, completely ignoring the sword pointed at him!

"...But I will need it to blacklist you, after all, you pulled out a weapon here."

The adventurer sneered, "You can ask that to your little dogs after I make quick work of you!"

Whispers spread among the crowd as soon as he was finished talking. The adventurer had not presented himself yet, so they were all eager to know his name.

It did not take long for the staff to learn his name, and since they did, they were going to report it.

"Ombre, this guy's name is Rokre-

*Fwoosh*

A knife flew through the air at an astonishingly fast speed, barely missing the worker's face.

The adventurer, the one supposedly named Rokre, had sent it using his wind-elemental mana, which gave his throw both speed and the ability to control its course.

"I don't think I invited you to join. I was kind this time, but there won't be a next time." Rokre threatened him as he made a throat-slicing gesture.

Seeing this, the worker's face went pale, and he said no more. He suddenly did not feel like involving himself anymore...

Ombre gestured for him to get away, and he did not hesitate a second to follow his order.

After this, the black haired man finally gave all his attention to Rokre.

Touching his coworkers was the one thing Ombre could not tolerate. Anger swiftly flooded his mind as his eyes burned with red.

"Alright! That's enough!" he said while drawing blood from his lips in order to cool his mind.

Being blinded by rage would bring no good, especially if they were going to get physical.

"If it's a fight you want, you will have it!"
