Lumina could no longer sit still. Her body trembled with restlessness as she paced the length of her chamber. The soft rustle of her gown brushed against the marble floor, but even that quiet sound grated against her nerves.
Her heart had been uneasy for hours, as though something inside her kept reeling her in, something was wrong.
She had tried calling upon her aunt several times, but there had been no response. Seraphina was never this silent.
Lumina turned toward the door again, her gaze anxious. "I don't have a good feeling, Stella," she murmured. "Something feels wrong. I need to see Ashen."
Stella, tried to soothe her. "My lady, His Highness can take care of himself. He's strong, you know that. Whatever happens, he will overcome it. Please, rest your mind."
But before Lumina could reply, a sound like thunder shattered the night.
It was deep and piercing and that roar was so fierce that the walls quaked under its might.
