It was supposed to be an ordinary morning.
The rain had washed the campus clean, sunlight pooling through the glass halls. Students rushed by in murmurs and laughter — unaware that silence followed two people who refused to cross paths.
Ayan had avoided the west corridor all week — the one that passed the gym where Kairo usually lingered after practice. He told himself it wasn't avoidance. It was strategy.
Until today.
The corridor was empty when he turned the corner — until he stopped.
Kairo stood there, towel slung over his shoulders, uniform jacket half open, skin damp with the kind of careless confidence that made Ayan's pulse misstep.
For a moment, neither spoke.
Then Kairo smiled — not the soft kind. The dangerous one.
"Running away again, Omega?"
Ayan's jaw tightened. "Maybe I just don't have time for pointless conversations."
"Funny," Kairo said, stepping closer, "you didn't seem so speechless last night."
The space between them shrank until Ayan could feel the faint heat radiating off him. He refused to step back.
"You mistook silence for surrender," he said quietly. "Don't make that mistake again."
Kairo's eyes flicked down — to the faint red mark still ghosting Ayan's wrist from where he'd grabbed him before.
Something dark flashed across his expression — not guilt. Something else. Something like possession.
Ayan noticed. Of course he did.
He lifted his wrist deliberately, brushing it off with a smirk. "Curious, aren't you?"
Kairo leaned in, voice low, rough at the edges.
"I don't like mysteries that keep me awake."
Ayan's smile didn't falter.
"Then you're in trouble."
The bell rang — loud, sharp, shattering the silence.
Ayan brushed past him, shoulder grazing Kairo's chest just enough to feel the tension snap like a wire.
Kairo turned, watching him go — every step feeling too deliberate, too slow.
The scent lingered — faint, intoxicating, wrong in all the right ways.
He pressed his tongue against his teeth, smiling to himself.
Trouble?
He could live with that.
