Chapter 158 - Chapter 158 : Ice Princess

"Woh… I was dying until now. Thank you, Sakura Chan… how did you know. You bought warm clothes for all of us." Naruto grinned as the warmth spread through his body and the chilly winds of the north got isolated outside.

"Indeed, how did you know?" Sasuke too asked, feeling a lot more comfortable in the warm clothes now. He almost asked with suspicion on his face.

"I didn't know, Sukuna packed my bag. At one point I thought he was fitting almost everything he got his hands on. I too wonder how he knew we were gonna need these clothings. He even packed for every one of us." Sakura replied, looking at her pack full of scrolls, since why not when they got a fuinjutsu master at home.

Yeah, not many knew, at least not until they checked out Sukuna's resume, that the boy was not only a fuinjutsu master but also great at calligraphy, cooking, medic work, and a taijutsu expert. (Yes, him being a cook is in the proper papers, since the team needed to know who was gonna make the food. It's important…)

And that was only what was available on him on official paper. There was a bunch which wasn't reported, like he was a certified plagiarist. Part of the reason he was never bothered about money was because he had recreated some of the works from his original world outside of Konoha's market.

He was quite famous by the pen name of Kishimoto Gege…

Yeah, not the most original, but hey, if he was gonna be a plagiarist, then at least do it properly, right…

He was also a famous bounty hunter by the name Ryomen and apparently was an investor in many of the rising industries or companies he saw potential in.

Needless to say, he was good when it came to money.

Kakashi from the side narrowed his eyes upon seeing all the sealing scrolls. They weren't the expensive off-market scrolls which needed a shinobi to sell half of his fortune to acquire. This many scrolls alone would have cost a small fortune to have.

To be able to make scrolls like this, the boy was really very talented. No wonder he was able to master sensei's Flying Thunder God. Kakashi couldn't help but sigh.

'If only Sakura knew how much she was potentially carrying in those scrolls.' He murmured to himself and sighed.

Kakashi's hand lingered automatically toward his Sharingan eye, which was sealed away right now. How the boy was able to do it was beyond him.

To be able to completely block his Sharingan from siphoning his chakra by outright disabling his eyes when he wasn't using it was borderline genius.

Kakashi pursed his lips, recalling that he was yet to include this in his report. For some reason, he kept on forgetting this one particular part every time he recalled it.

Why? He wasn't sure. Was this a side effect of what that kid called 'Binding Vow?' He wasn't sure, but now he was almost all the time at his full chakra, and even if he wished to use his Sharingan, though it came with a slight condition like getting his blood drawn in a fight, he was able to fight at the top of his ability.

Simply genius.

"Tell him thanks when we get back…" Kakashi sighed once again and said before motioning his team to go back to their patrols.

Nothing dangerous had occurred yet, but still they had to stay vigilant. They were shinobi for a reason.

The mission had sounded simple. It was actually very simple. Another escort mission.

Escort a famous actress. Keep her alive. Get paid.

However, their track record with this kind of mission wasn't that great.

Team Seven had learned—painfully—that any mission described as simple was a lie told by the universe for its own amusement.

Or it was Sukuna in one of his philosophical tyrants in the middle of after a good beating at their expense. They couldn't quite recall which one it was, but neither would deny him at this point.

Like it or not, the boy was right almost all the time in his assessments.

Yukie Fujikaze made that clear within the first hour.

"I'm not going," she snapped, arms crossed inside her heavy cloak as snow whipped around them. "I quit acting. I'm not stepping foot in the Land of Snow again."

Naruto stared at her, mouth open. "Lady, we crossed three countries for this!"

"I'm even baffled you remember there were three countries we had to pass to get here…" Sasuke muttered under his breath, he too annoyed at how lackluster the mission was.

He'd rather get missions like Waves over this boring escort mission.

Sakura pinched the bridge of her nose. "Naruto, don't yell at the client."

"She's not even acting like a client!"

"That's how clients usually act, kid…" Kakashi intervened.

"Like a spoiled brat?"

"Like they fucking owe us."

"And we good with that?"

"Of course not, but… we are good with what they pay us." Kakashi shrugged.

Sasuke leaned against a tree, unbothered. "We could always drag her."

Kakashi didn't look up from his book. "Let's try not to do that..."

Yukie scoffed. "See? Even the masked one understands."

"Oi… were you eavesdropping all this time… rude."

"What kind of ninjas are you, couldn't even say I was standing right here. Listening to you bad-mouth me behind my back…"

"I'm very certain that was the idea after we did learn you were there."

"Ahhh."

Needless to say, the mission wasn't as easy as it looked on paper.

Soon the shooting location arrived, a huge glacier where another instalment of Gale Princess was about to get shot, however.

Most weren't interested in the shooting; it was rather a boring ordeal, completely unlike a movie, which is usually fast-paced and entertaining. Here though, it was always multiple takes, then retakes, and some things always going wrong which needed more takes.

It was a mess.

As Team 7 decided to just ignore the shooting altogether, soon something they didn't expect happened.

The glacier exploded.

Ice shattered upward as something massive burst from beneath the snow, sending the group skidding apart. Yukie screamed. Naruto fell on his back. Sakura barely stayed upright.

Out of the storm emerged three figures clad in dark winter armor.

"Nadare Roga," Kakashi muttered as his eyes narrowed. He knew this shinobi's identity from the bingo book. Finally closing his book, he stepped out. "Seems like this escort would become a trouble mission." Kakashi sighed.

Nadare cracked his neck, grinning. He was one of the strongest shinobi in the Land of Snow. He wasn't afraid of anyone, even if the other person was a famous Jonin like Kakashi. His chakra armor gave him an advantage over traditional ninjas.

"Hand over the girl."

"No can do, his brother is quite a scary guy at times…" Kakashi, in his full nonchalant way, waved his hands and pointed at Sakura, who looked at him with a glare, like asking, 'If he wasn't, then you would have given me up…?'

"Not her, the other one." Nadare sneered. Who needed that pink-haired kid.

"Oh… but I think you're mistaken. I know Sasuke here looks pretty and all, but he ain't a girl. But knowing his general disinterest in girls, you can take him. Your mileage may vary though…" Naruto grinned.

"You bastard, you wanna go?" A twitch formed on Sasuke's face immediately.

Nadare too felt his blood pressure rising. "Shut your nonsense. Hand over Yukie Fujikaze and we might let you leave alive…"

"Hard pass!" Naruto yelled, already forming a Rasengan. "Team 7 doesn't leave missions halfway… believe it!"

The fight detonated into chaos.

Mizore Fuyukuma moved first, vanishing into the snow like a ghost. Sasuke's eyes snapped red, Sharingan spinning as he tracked the distortion beneath the ice.

"Left," Sasuke said calmly.

Sakura didn't ask questions. She slammed her fist down.

The glacier cracked like glass.

Mizore burst out of the ice coughing, only to be launched backward by a lightning-fast kick from Sasuke. "I told you," Sasuke muttered. "Left."

Fubuki Kakuyoku soared overhead on chakra wings, a rain of senbon screaming down.

Naruto grinned. "My turn!"

He split into shadow clones mid-run. The real Naruto leapt, Rasengan howling as a clone grabbed his ankle and hurled him like a projectile.

"Wait, you idiot, how are you gonna land at that height?!" Sakura shouted.

Naruto smashed straight through Fubuki's wings; however, instead of the Rasengan completely dismembering the shinobi, it got absorbed by the enemy shinobi's armor.

"Ah… what the hell." Naruto was speechless. He got one chance to show off his new technique and it didn't work.

Kakashi sighed at his team's knuckleheaded member and quickly formed hand signs, raising the icy ground for Naruto to easily slide off it.

Once he knew the blond was safe, his eyes went to the armor those shinobi were wearing.

"What kind of equipment is that?" This was the first time Kakashi was coming face to face with an item like that, so he was a bit uncertain; however, he understood the general concept of the armor. They were absorbing their chakra.

"Careful, those armors they're wearing absorb our chakra and chakra-related attacks."

His eyes then went to the rest of the crew and, of course, their client, Yukie. Their safety was the most important.

Normally he would have asked his team to do that while he faced those shinobi, however, this team was already at a level that he didn't have to worry too much. Instead of taking the upfront fighting position, he decided to safeguard the crew and Yukie Fujikaze and leave the rest of the shinobi to his team.

At least, let them try. If they couldn't take them, then he was there anyway.

"Team," Kakashi said calmly, "pressure."

And they moved as one.

Sasuke was already there.

The fight was only starting.
