Chapter 160 - Starting the Story as the Boss

It's always the world's fault, though the world itself doesn't want to take that blame and is ready to fight back.

Magic isn't omnipotent. Even if it can be used in many ways, even the strongest magic has its limits, like disputes, for example.

Voldemort's mother refused to follow her father's wishes and instead married a Muggle. What does that say? It means, no matter what, this damn world still judges by looks, and not even magic can change that!

Likewise, tangled and inseparable threads bind two nations in conflict. What once was mere quarrels between Muggles has now escalated into outright battles among wizards.

Amid this thick, unbreakable entanglement, on one dark night, the boy Sam reached out his guilty hands to the girl Katyusha, giving his all to try to convince her.

The result was a mixed failure, "convince" was only half done, and "accept" was nowhere near.

This young man forgot one thing: in this day and age, you can't just cook raw rice into cooked rice, even popping it won't help.

This sad story was full of onlookers. But instead of eating popcorn, they collected special garments stained with Katyusha's signature style, to sell later. Even those who missed out followed a teacher's motto, bringing cameras to record it all, and soon dominated a certain famous mountain.

Regardless of how Sam's "I have your body but not your heart" song played out, or how Katyusha's new suitor sang his own solo about choosing forgiveness, Allen could only lament his own fate as a mere spectator, so much money, so many little coins, just vanished in a flash.

Eventually, Annie woke Allen from this gloomy mood, handing him an untouched ice cream.

Sweet treats truly are magic for the soul.

After buying Annie an ice cream as well, the two of them felt much better as they strolled along, when they spotted a familiar figure.

It was a professor they'd never had a class with, the Muggle Studies professor, who if unlucky, would be this year's victim in the magical world's "Dare to Try" tournament: the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.

No surprises, the Dark Lord was possessing him now, and had just attended the first historic meeting of the infamous "kill-couple."

But seriously, why were they here? Just for a handshake?—Wait, that information seems too big.

Suddenly, Allen remembered something.

He seemed to have forgotten a very important tool!

This tool wasn't that important to most wizards, but for him, even the oldest wand was a crude fire poker compared to it.

The legendary stone that could create the Elixir of Life had a little-known side effect, the power of alchemy.

By Merlin's beard!

What a marvelous thing!

Compared to it, what was Miss Katyusha?

Allen suddenly felt lucky, the goddess of fortune was waving to him!

Besides, respected Mr. Nicolas Flamel didn't really care about the stone anymore. Rather than let it go to waste, better Allen take it to save the world!!!

"Mr. Flamel, please look into my sincere eyes, I solemnly swear I'm not up to mischief, pfft, side effects of overusing the Marauder's Map, I really am here to do good!"

But it was useless, not just for him, even the world's most powerful dark wizard had come back empty-handed.

Imagine, after they crossed countless traps, avoided terrifying dragons, and escaped fairy enchantments to finally reach their goal, only to find the treasure had already been taken by Hagrid, what kind of mood is that? Probably just a noisy wind today…

Why was this so annoying? Considering Dumbledore's mysterious reports, the deeper you think about it, the more terrifying it becomes.

"Oh foolish student, let me teach you through this path what true power is!"

Enough! Allen shook his head hard to get rid of all those wicked thoughts, let's put aside all those wild ideas for now. It's time to focus on the real matter: how to get the Philosopher's Stone.

First, it had to be with Hagrid, which meant Allen's plan of sneaking in with a mask and knocking him out to steal it was totally busted.

Knocking out Hagrid didn't bother him too much. Besides, they weren't close. Even if they were friends, he could probably manage, especially after matchmaking two quirky friends and secretly beating one up at night at the girl's request. After she cried and healed him, they ended up holding hands, a really silly story.

So Allen considered it no big deal to knock Hagrid out for the greater good. The only problem was, Hagrid was a half-giant with a natural resistance to magic, so Allen couldn't control the strength of his strike.

That left only one option, wait for the Dark Lord.

Wait for Mr. Tom breaks through all the traps and lets Harry get the Stone in a daring battle, ignoring that weird phrase, then strikes Voldemort as he flees, cool and confident. Even if the Horcrux soul survived, get the Stone from unconscious Harry and run before Dumbledore arrived!

Perfect plan!

Everything was flawless!

Why not try earlier?

Come on, Allen didn't think his current state would let him pull the Stone out of the Mirror of Erised.

What he probably saw in the vision was just a bunch of Galleons or something else, he definitely couldn't get the Stone. If he disturbed Dumbledore, that would be trouble.

Good, everything was perfect, even far away, Professor Quirrell started his usual shivering, maybe a chill caused by fate?

Who knows, Allen started thinking about flaws in the plan.

Then suddenly, a feeling of unease came over him.

Wait, why did he feel more like the ultimate boss in this plan than Voldemort?!

What the heck?

This wasn't right. Could it be that he was really Harry's true enemy?

Haha…

Forget it. Starting today, he'd just be a happy boss, torment the hero, snatch the treasure, that sounded great.
