Chapter 91 - The silence before the storm(part91)

(Ahmed was heading to school on a beautiful morning, a gentle breeze touching faces, and the sky dressed in a pure blue that brought peace of mind. He walked with quiet steps towards the gate, his bag on his shoulder, and the details of the new school day in his mind. At the school gate, he saw Misaki standing with slight shyness, pushing strands of hair away from her face, and when their eyes met, they both smiled that small smile that carries a thousand unspoken words.)

(Classes passed slowly, until the bell for the last break rang. Students poured out into the vibrant and noisy yard. Ahmed and Misaki sat near the gym, in the shade of a large tree overlooking the soccer field, talking about the upcoming match in which Ahmed would participate with the school team. The gentle breeze carried the sounds of laughter and conversation from every direction, and the atmosphere seemed full of life.)

(But suddenly, those usual sounds mingled with a different one—loud laughter and mockery coming from the back of the gym. Ahmed quickly turned, noticing a small gathering behind the building. Misaki looked in the same direction, her eyes filling with worry.)

(The two approached with cautious steps until they clearly saw the scene: four third-year students surrounding a small first-year girl, who was trembling in their grasp and trying to cling to her school bag. One of them pulled it from her harshly, they were bullying and harassing her, and the other uttered hurtful and sarcastic words, while two stood laughing and clapping as if enjoying a funny show. The girl was on the verge of tears, her voice completely fading against their cruelty.)

(Misaki froze in her place, whispering with a trembling voice as she held Ahmed's arm:)

Misaki: "They are harassing her... We should go and tell a teacher."

(But Ahmed did not move backward; rather the opposite. He stared at the scene with steady eyes, and slowly clenched his fist. He couldn't ignore what was happening, nor could he tolerate the idea of standing idly by this injustice. He took a deep breath, and his voice came out quietly at first, but it carried a clear, firm tone.)

Ahmed: "Stop right now..."

(The bullies turned toward him with mocking faces. One of them smiled sarcastically and said:)

"And who are you? Do you think you're an action movie hero?"

(Ahmed did not reply; his gaze was enough to silence the laughter. Silence descended for a few short seconds, then Misaki whispered fearfully, holding his arm again:)

Misaki: "Ahmed... don't be reckless, please..."

(But Ahmed had made up his mind.

There was no room for retreat.)
