At this stage, according to Raymon Vye and Teacher Shim's plan and their instructions after hypnotizing him, he should have finished himself off. That had been the natural conclusion—one final act of loyalty towards the dark master followed by suicide.
After all, history was witness that the dark witches were all loyal to the Dark Master until death.
But before he could kill himself, Kael's order to not move had echoed in the large hall. It should have made no difference to Roth! He should have killed himself but he froze on a single word from Kael.
Suddenly, both Teacher Shim and Raymon Vye stiffened. Something was definitely going to go wrong.
The two men exchanged another sharp look, already preparing to interrupt, to push matters forward before Roth could hesitate again. But Kael spoke before either of them could move.
