Chapter 150 - Chapter 150: Shamelessness

"This isn't a threat—it's a notification." Wes Elwin met Nick Fury's gaze without the slightest trace of fear. His attitude was firm and decisive, declaring his stance with absolute clarity.

In the tense atmosphere, their eyes locked, and it felt as if invisible sparks crackled in the air.

Nick Fury struggled to suppress his anger; his dark face showed no readable expression.

"Do you know what you're doing? You're provoking the most powerful intelligence organization in the world. You're making yourself an enemy of the entire world."

His voice was low, forceful, and carried a heavy sense of pressure.

"First, you do not represent the whole world," Wes retorted without backing down.

"Second—so what if I become the enemy of the entire world?"

With his system panel backing him, Wes had every reason to be confident. If he were afraid of S.H.I.E.L.D., he might as well smash his head into tofu and die.

"Want to deal with me? Go call your friend in outer space."

A mocking smile tugged at the corner of Wes' lips.

Nick Fury subconsciously took two steps backward, his hand drifting toward the beeper at his waist—the only device capable of contacting Captain Marvel.

"This world… this universe is broader than you imagine. S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Wes let out a laugh. "A joke—and not even a funny one. You've never been the ones protecting Earth."

His tone was dripping with disdain.

"What do you mean? Are there others—" Nick hadn't even finished speaking before Wes vanished.

Nick Fury froze, shock and anger twisting in his chest.

He slammed a fist onto the table, producing a deep, heavy thud.

The table trembled slightly, as if echoing Nick Fury's rage and helplessness.

Left alone in the empty room, Nick Fury stood silently, sinking into deep contemplation.

After this conversation, the surveillance teams who had been shadowing Wes one after another withdrew in an orderly fashion.

Without fully understanding Wes Elwin's capabilities, Nick would never act rashly.

The spymaster knew too well that facing an unknown and overwhelmingly powerful force, reckless action would only lead to unforeseeable consequences.

He was like a careful chess player, laying out the board and waiting for the right moment before making his move.

Once he uncovered Wes' weakness, that would be the moment war began.

Nick Fury had already internally classified Wes as an extremely unstable factor.

In Nick's eyes, the world required order and stability, and anything that might disrupt that balance had to be approached with utmost caution.

For unstable elements, his methods were clear and decisive:

either strict surveillance and control—

or complete destruction.

Only through such measures could world stability be guaranteed.

But Wes Elwin had his own beliefs and principles. There was no possibility he would ever accept being monitored.

A clash between them was inevitable, and both sides fully believed they would be the victor.

Wes remained quietly in the Marvel world, but his existence wasn't without purpose.

The Black Dragon—Acnologia, with its world-ending, heaven-destroying power—hung over his mind like a suffocating shadow, filling him with an urgent sense of pressure.

Every time he recalled the black dragon's terrifying might, Wes felt his own insignificance and helplessness.

Wes desperately wished to become stronger, yet he clearly understood that in a short period of time, his power couldn't possibly undergo a qualitative leap.

So, he turned his eyes toward external opportunities.

He knew that before long, a miraculous treasure would descend upon Earth.

This treasure contained immense power—enough to help him take a critical step forward on his path to growth.

Because of this, Wes showed unusual patience. He was like a calm, composed hunter, silently waiting for the perfect moment.

On this day, Wes sat leisurely in a famous New York café located at a street corner—one known throughout the entire city.

Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over him.

He savored a dessert with refined elegance. Its delicate texture and sweet flavor blossomed on his tongue, letting him momentarily forget the chaos of the outside world.

The café's desserts were celebrated across New York for their unique flavors and exquisite craftsmanship, drawing countless visitors eager to taste them.

Just as Wes was immersed in this brief moment of peace and enjoyment, Coulson came rushing toward him at full speed.

His face was filled with anxiety and tension, sweat beading densely across his forehead.

In the crowd, Coulson's urgent, frantic pace stood out sharply.

It's here. The time has come.

Wes recited the words silently in his heart.

When Coulson finally reached him, he blurted out, "Mr. Elwin—Earth is in trouble. We need your help!"

He quickly explained the situation, his tone full of worry.

A powerful alien had suddenly attacked a secret base, displaying terrifying strength.

That mysterious extraterrestrial might have already summoned an alien army, ready to invade Earth at any moment.

The planet was facing an unprecedented crisis, and they urgently needed Wes's strength to handle the disaster.

While asking for his help, Coulson deliberately withheld crucial information—most notably the existence of the Space Stone.

He knew that revealing such information could cause unpredictable consequences.

What he didn't expect… was that Wes already knew far more than he did.

Wes truly hadn't expected S.H.I.E.L.D. to show such thick skin coming to ask for his help. His last conversation with Nick Fury had been anything but friendly.

He had originally planned to act on his own—he had his own goals and plans.

But now, accepting S.H.I.E.L.D.'s invitation didn't seem like a bad option after all.

"I can agree," Wes said firmly, "but I won't make a move for free."

He knew his own worth, and he understood perfectly well that in this world driven by interests, nothing came without a price.

He wouldn't allow S.H.I.E.L.D. to use him casually—he needed to secure proper compensation.

Coulson gave an awkward, bitter smile. "Mr. Elwin… this concerns the survival of all mankind."

He tried to use moral pressure, hoping Wes would act out of righteousness and help S.H.I.E.L.D. without expecting anything in return.

"Don't try to make yourselves look noble," Wes shot back bluntly. "You caused the disaster, and now you want someone else to clean up after you—without paying a price. All you know is moral blackmail."

He saw straight through S.H.I.E.L.D.'s schemes and felt nothing but irritation at their selfishness.

Coulson rubbed his nose awkwardly. He knew Wes wasn't wrong—but he also had his own helplessness.
