"Cheers!" They clashed their beer bottles together before moving back in their chairs. Rico and the rest of his small mercenary crew had gathered together tonight. Part of the reason was to celebrate their successful completion of a mission.
Another reason was an impromptu meeting because they already have another job offer. Which was why Artemis was joining them. Waylon would join them once he was no longer wanted. Dahl was still sorting out his issues.
Rico sat back and grabbed a piece of food. "Okay, we need to talk about training and the new job."
"I can't believe we already have a new job. We just got payment for the last one and it is quite good. We could sit on that for a while." T-Dog suggested with a sigh.
"We could, but we won't." Rico answered as he handed out a few sheets of paper. "But at the same time this is a longer job. So we will be milking it for money while also training up and looking for new members."
"Training?" Artemis asked with a scoff.
"Yes, mostly martial arts and weapons training. Which reminds me we should start buying up all the properties on this block. We need a few more areas." Rico informed them as he looked at Edgelady.
She nodded and started taking notes. "I will look into it. But at the moment only Waylon is the only one who really needs the help. But he is still hiding until the charges are cleared."
"Hey… this job does not seem like something I can help with." Gearbox pointed out. "There will not be much use for our armored vehicle with this job."
"Maybe not at the start. But you can make more than just an armored vehicle. Edgelady got permission for us to have heavy weaponry. So she will buy a bunch of things, I will go get a few things as well and you can tinker with your heart's desire." Rico explained as he saw something in the distance.
Ivy, who was handing out some food, flinched for a moment and looked over at Rico. He just shook his head. Stopping her from saying her warning out loud.
"Then what should we do first?" Gearbox asked. "Because this is sounding more like a list of things we should take care of."
"How about dealing with our party crashers first?" Rico answered as he suddenly felt a body slam into him. The body carried him up into the sky by shirt. He was still in the middle of chewing some food. "I will be back in a second!" He called out as he looked at his attacker.
A blonde woman who was wearing a white shirt and jeans. She had a rather ferocious expression on her face. "What did you do with my cousin!" Supergirl yelled at him as they rose up into the air.
It seems they were to be the fall guys for Waller's operation. It would make sense that they were able to track and identify them as the people who took the Kents. But Rico did not care that much. "Nothing, never seen him." But it was a rather bad idea to just come in here and attack him.
He looked past her and saw she was not the only one. There was Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl. They were in a standoff with his mercenaries. But between them at the moment was Batman and the newest Robin. Seems there was an issue.
"You dare!" Supergirl screamed in anger and then… she let go. He began falling and as he did he saw Wonder Woman jump forward only to get blindsided by Artemis and flying off their roof. Hawkgirl prepared to fly up but she was suddenly wrapped in vines. Green Lantern prepared to fight back but he could see that Batman was able to stop him while also talking down the rest of the mercenaries who drew their weapons.
Rico felt a hand grab his ankle and he stopped a few feet above the street. He looked up to see Supergirl glaring at him. Her eyes glowing slightly red. "Want to talk now?!?" It looked like she was trying to intimidate him.
"Nope." Rico shook his head while looking up at her. "You really are not that intimidating."
Supergirl's grip on his ankle tightened and then she flew upwards. "Then I will just have to take you to space and-" She stopped and looked toward the roof. Rico looked as well to see Batman was looking in their direction. "No! I have this! He will- What do you mean he is not intimidated! He is clearly- arghh!" She reached up and threw something out of her ear before flying upwards.
Rico rolled his eyes as he waited until he was high up enough in the air. Then he pulled out his Amazonium Knuckle Dusters. He pulled himself upwards, surprising Supergirl. She barely had a chance to yelp before one of them found their way into her midsection and she was letting go of him while keeling over in the air.
When she let him go he grabbed her leg and threw himself upward and slammed his fists into her back and she was out. They were falling to the ground. As he fell they went through the clouds and Rico whistled loudly while looking in the direction of the gym.
As he did he could see as a tree quickly grew and vines reached out of it. He landed with a grunt in the bed of vines and then he was lowered and placed on the ground. He chuckled as Supergirl, who was also caught by the tree, was tossed onto his shoulder.
He was not confident he could have survived the fall. But it would have been a test of his abilities at the very least. Maybe next time… or maybe when he got a bit stronger. But before then he had to see what was going on. He began walking back towards his building.
