Chapter 33 - Chapter 30.1: Afterword

So, how do I write chapters? Good question. One that sounds easier than it is. I suppose the best way is to start small, tiny, even and then slowly build up momentum. Like rolling a snowball downhill, but with words. Isn't that how it's always done? Probably. Yet people tend to overdo it, packing every sentence with "importance," as if being dense makes one deep.

Writing a chapter feels like drawing: you begin with a sketch, fragile, hesitant and then, stroke by stroke, it turns into a complete picture. I write in an app. Nothing glamorous. But I always have Google nearby. Why? Obvious question. Simple answer: it's my assistant. My dictionary.

When you write, you must know what you're saying. That's not as easy as it sounds. Sometimes the meaning of a word slips away. Sometimes you want to replace it with something sharper, something that fits better. And that's when I turn to Google, to help me choose words, to compare phrasing, to ensure the dialogue sounds like it actually belongs to the characters speaking it.

My process, then, is simple:

Sketch the chapter → Review it → Send it for grammar correction → Review it again (yes, again) → Add the finishing touches (those tiny, barely noticeable ones that make it alive) → Finally, send it off for translation into English.

They say, an author lives on feedback.

I don't know if that's true, but if you're reading this, it means, I'm still alive.
