Chapter 594 - You Scoundrel! Do I Have to Confess Too?

Chapter 594: Fu Xuan: You Scoundrel! Do I Have to Confess Too?

Jing Yuan was about to speak again when grand, majestic music suddenly blared from a high platform in the distance. Accompanying it was a powerful voice reciting, echoing through the sky.

On the high platform, two wondrous, mechanical dragons and lions suddenly appeared. This was the highlight of the New Year celebration, the Xianzhou "Dance of Dragon and Lion."

The recitation told a complete legendary story. Ren recognized the performers at a glance: Guinaifen and Sushang. He watched with great interest as their performance reached its climax.

"Hey! Danger!" Just as the rhythm plunged into crisis, an accident occurred. Guinaifen's lion slipped and fell from the high platform. Sushang, with quick reflexes, rushed to the edge and grabbed her hand, but couldn't pull her up.

Just as Sushang was about to lose her grip, a dazzling golden light appeared, and Guinaifen found her foot stepping on air. It was a golden lion composed of pure energy. Her sharp gaze noticed Ren waving, and her eyes lit up. Knowing she had been helped, she returned a smile. She and Sushang exchanged glances and continued.

"Roar!" A green dragon appeared behind Sushang. The golden lion leaped, sending Guinafen back onto the high platform. At this moment, the announcer's voice reappeared. "Dragon Soars, Lion Thunders Forth." It added the finishing touch.

The thrilling scene brought a new color to the performance. "Good!!!" the crowd cheered. At the end, Guinaifen and Sushang, drenched in sweat, received thunderous applause.

"How did you conjure up such a flashy thing?" Fu Xuan asked.

Ren shrugged. "Do you think it was interesting?"

"Alright. This Grand Diviner admits it had a certain charm."

Jing Yuan did not interject. Instead, he smiled faintly and silently left. He was a resourceful General whom Fu Xuan had described as cunning and sly. He naturally wouldn't continue to be an eyesore here.

Fu Xuan nodded. "The performance is over. Should we head back?"

"We've played, eaten, and watched. It's about time. However…" Ren paused, looking into her eyes. "My Grand Diviner, did you have fun today?"

"I…" Suddenly asked so gently, she shyly averted her gaze and nodded bashfully, responding in a mosquito-like voice, "Mhm."

"Then let's go back." He led her by the hand.

Until they arrived at her doorstep, he lifted his foot, about to enter. "Hm?" Fu Xuan, waiting for a farewell, froze. "Why aren't you moving?" he turned to look at her.

"This is my home," she pointed. It was clearly her home, yet he was openly walking in.

"Uh-huh, I know." He spread his hands, looking helpless. "Look, I'm not a Xianzhou native, so I'm homeless. May I stay at the Grand Diviner's place for one night?"

Her forehead popped with a hashtag. "With your status, even Xianzhou would arrange the most luxurious guest room for you. Just a word to the General."

"Sigh," he sighed. "Isn't it that I don't want to trouble the General?"

"???" She pointed at herself. "I am the acting General…" But before she could finish, he had leaned down and kissed her thin, moist lips.

"!!!" Her eyes widened in surprise. Her hands instinctively pushed. Unexpectedly, he cooperated and stepped back. Her small hands froze in the air, filled with an inexplicable reluctance.

"It seems I've been rejected by the Grand Diviner," his lips held a gentle smile.

"…" She lowered her head and pursed her lips. Amidst her complex thoughts, she suddenly looked up and grabbed his collar. With her strength, pulling him was impossible, but he intentionally cooperated. Her slender legs stood straight as she lifted her head and returned the kiss.

Although it was a fleeting touch, he saw her face, both angry and shy. "You scoundrel! Why was your confession so crude? Why didn't you persist for one more second?!" If you had, my hands wouldn't have pushed!

"You mean… like this?" his lips now curved into a triumphant smile. Before she could react, he kissed her again. This time, it wasn't light.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, and at the same time, he supported her legs, carrying her in a princess carry. Just like that, they walked into her home.

"Clang." The door closed. The night after the New Year was quiet, but in the Grand Diviner's home, it was filled with a fiery, passionate light.
