Luis found himself unable to sleep alone, so he took the opportunity to get some proper rest. He slept so deeply that day and night seemed to blur together, and he wouldn't have woken up at all if his teacher's wife, Winslet, hadn't called.
"You heartless thing, still sleeping? I just bailed your master out. He's been starving all night and keeps muttering about eating you out of house and home."
"Master and Mistress, you've both worked hard. Where are you? We'll come right over."
"Your master took the apprentices back first. He said he'd treat them to a meal to calm their nerves, and settle scores with you later."
"I'm heading back to the law firm to handle some work. Let's arrange to meet for dinner tonight somewhere, and I'll explain everything to you face to face."
The street right outside Winslet's home was lined with late-night eateries. That evening, they had agreed to meet at a Korean barbecue restaurant.
