Chapter 63 - Piercing Light

"Brother Bai," Hei whispered, trembling with an emotion so raw that it bordered on madness. "Look at what these monsters have done."

Bai stepped forward, his usually serene, half-lidded eyes widening in horror. He knelt down slowly into the dirt, carefully unrolling his blank scroll and holding the empty bamboo slats next to the squashed bun in the mud, as if comparing the two.

"The bun before us was a perfect sphere," Bai whispered, his voice trembling with spiritual devastation. "It was a flawless physical representation of the infinite cycle of life. The Dao itself resided within the pork filling.

The universe weeps when the dough is not perfectly pleated to seal in the warmth. They have... by the heavens, they have aggressively disrupted the sacred harmony of the meat-to-bun ratio. This is a crime against creation."
