Chapter 269 - 《Harry Potter- Ravenclaw》Chapter 137: Ancient Magic—Blast Curse & Greater Blast Curse

Dumbledore had once advised Wyzett to try "tracing things back to their roots." Sometimes, by returning to the very origin of a problem, a whole new perspective emerges.

Letting his mind settle, Wyzett reviewed the memories he'd seen and reflected on his understanding of mental magic.

By his own definition, the very first mental magic he'd learned was the Soul Labyrinth.

According to Aberforth Dumbledore, the key to constructing a Soul Labyrinth lay in emotion—only with powerful, abundant feelings could one build a fortress-like soul.

Occlumency, which evolved from the Soul Labyrinth, also demanded mastery over one's emotions to resist Legilimency.

This year, Wyzett had taught himself the Memory Charm, and learned much from Lockhart about breaking its effects.

To effectively counteract a Memory Charm, one needed to find the corresponding emotion—using it as a "fulcrum" to pry open and dismantle the spell's hold.

Building on these foundations, and combining them with the Memory Extraction spell he'd recently mastered…

He realized that feelings and emotions were, in essence, one and the same.

It hit him: "Directly touching these memories… I've been infected by the emotions inside them."

"It's a lot like using a Pensieve—except now that I'm beginning to understand the soul, the Pensieve doesn't affect me as much."

"But this time, I was in direct contact with the memories themselves, not just viewing them through a filter. That's why I was so easily swept up in someone else's feelings."

In Hagrid's memories, the pain and resentment of Snape being bullied and singled out weren't unique—Hagrid himself resonated deeply with them.

After all, Hagrid's size and appearance had always made him a target for whispers and suspicion. Even when he spoke of his student days, he tended to skirt around the subject—there must have been plenty of painful memories there.

Piecing it all together, Wyzett realized that what he'd thought was Snape's bitterness was, in truth, Hagrid's own.

But Hagrid was gentle by nature; he would never show such emotions openly. Instead, they lingered in his subconscious, quietly coloring his memories.

All those subtle, unspoken resentments—born of Hogwarts, born of one's own experience—had pooled together in the memories Wyzett was sorting, slowly revealing themselves and, little by little, seeping into him.

With this revelation, Wyzett quickly devised a solution.

He lifted his wand, pressed it to his temple, and cast a mental spell to strip away the lingering emotions.

To his surprise, the process was anything but easy. The weight of Hagrid's accumulated bitterness was immense—using ordinary magic to remove it would take ages.

But Wyzett had another strategy. He called upon the Obscurus core within him, channeling its Ancient Magic to help sever the emotional residue.

Using Ancient Magic as a medium, the process sped up considerably—but still wasn't fast enough.

Unwilling to let these feelings linger, Wyzett tried a third approach: harnessing Ancient Magic that had been tempered and matured over time.

If stripping away bitterness was like pulling out a stubborn nail, then his first method was simply grabbing the nail with his bare hands and tugging, bit by bit.

Using the Obscurus' Ancient Magic was like employing a crowbar—much more effective.

But using Ancient Magic aged by time was like wielding a precision tool: one twist, and the nail slipped free.

Wyzett drew his wand back, pulling with it a large mass of dusky orange energy—something between a ball of light and a swirl of mist, shimmering and ethereal.

At that moment, The Wizard's Practical Combat Guide in his mind snapped open. The Ancient Magic he'd accumulated surged inward, pouring into the pages. Even the orange energy at his wand's tip shrank and vanished into the book.

Just as when he first learned Ancient Magic: Self-Molding (Devil's Snare Form), the Combat Guide now released a fresh surge of magical insight—born from emotion.

Wyzett didn't hesitate. He absorbed every drop of this new understanding, integrating it with his growing mastery of mental magic.

When he came to, two blank pages in the Combat Guide now displayed new spells:

Ancient Magic: Blast Curse—Channel Ancient Magic to cast the Blast Curse… enhanced destructive power… on impact, the curse clings to the enemy, inflicting continuous burning…

Ancient Magic: Greater Blast Curse—Channel Ancient Magic to cast the Greater Blast Curse… further amplified power… on impact, triggers a secondary explosion for a devastating surprise…

Two pure, offensive Ancient Magic spells.

The Blast Curse would set foes ablaze, burning them long after the initial strike.

The Greater Blast Curse could detonate a second time after hitting its mark, catching enemies completely off guard.

"As I thought… Once these emotions are stripped away, I feel so much lighter." Wyzett exhaled deeply, relief washing over him.

He glanced at the headmaster's door and, on impulse, knocked again. "Professor Dumbledore, sorry to bother you so late… May I come in?"

Silence. The office remained as quiet as before.

Now that his mind was clear, Wyzett instinctively replayed everything that had happened that day.

It had been quite a day. Not only had he made progress with his Animagus training, but he'd also uncovered memories from Hagrid about Hogwarts' past and learned more about Snape's history.

From those memories, he could finally understand why Snape was so obsessed with deducting points—especially from Gryffindor.

Compared to the Hogwarts of Snape's youth, today's school was a paradise.

And that wasn't all he'd gained.

By helping Hagrid seal away his memories, he'd come to appreciate the hidden dangers of confronting memories head-on—deepening his understanding of mental magic.

Stripping away the bitterness from Hagrid's memories had also granted him two new offensive Ancient Magic spells, along with a deeper insight into the role of emotion in magic.

He glanced once more at the headmaster's door, stretched, and murmured, "Well, it's late… I'd better get some rest too."

"I'll need to be up early for more Animagus practice, and all this new magical insight about emotions… I'll have to organize that as well…"

On the way back to Ravenclaw Tower, he jotted down his next goals.

"Combining emotion with mental magic… I can explore their mysterious connection. It'll help with both the Memory Charm and Occlumency…"
