"Harry Potter- Ravenclaw"Chapter 186: The Geis Contract That Must Never Be Revealed

"That really is an outcome I didn't expect…" Dumbledore chuckled, half exasperated, half relieved.

Wyzett lifted his wand a little higher, the shimmering threads of memory glowing at its tip. "Honestly, I can't guarantee I'm right about all this…"

"Headmaster Dumbledore, when it comes to the Commandment, I'd feel much better with your help. You have far more experience—you're bound to see things more clearly than I ever could."

"Of course." Dumbledore raised his wand, gently drawing the silvery memory threads from Wyzett and placing them to his own temple. His eyes grew distant as he delved into the memory.

It was a long moment before Dumbledore finally lowered his wand, a glimmer of satisfaction in his gaze. "This memory… it's answered so many of my questions. It's been invaluable, truly."

He let out a deep breath and looked at Wyzett. "With what I know of Voldemort, I can only agree with your conclusion. So it really was 'love'…"

His expression became strangely complicated—there was even a trace of pity in his eyes. Clearly, he saw Voldemort as someone who had severed himself from love completely—a most wretched soul.

If Voldemort himself had witnessed that look at the end of last year, he'd have likely flown into a rage.

Dumbledore sighed softly, murmuring, "The ultimate 'death' Commandment… No wonder his Killing Curse was so different."

He closed his eyes, as if reliving some distant memory. "It was always so quick, so precise… sometimes he didn't even need to speak the incantation. I'd always thought it was just because his soul had been utterly warped by Dark magic."

Wyzett blinked in surprise. "Headmaster Dumbledore, are you saying Voldemort's Killing Curse could be cast wordlessly?"

Dumbledore smiled, eyes twinkling. "The ultimate 'death' Commandment in exchange for the ultimate Killing Curse—we've just uncovered one of his greatest secrets, haven't we?"

He paced lightly around the Mirror of Erised. "Wyzett, the Commandment is a truly peculiar thing… Tell me, are you familiar with Amortentia?"

Wyzett nodded. "Yes, it's the most powerful love potion known today, invented by the wizard Dilumudo Odinay in the third century."

"It induces intense infatuation or obsession in the drinker… But it also shares a trait with Polyjuice Potion—different people smell different scents, based on what they personally find most attractive. It's quite fascinating."

"Exactly right!" Dumbledore gave a gentle clap. "In fact, after years of chasing down clues, I discovered that the inventor of Amortentia was also a bearer of the Commandment."

Wyzett's eyes widened. "So Dilumudo's Commandment was… the power to brew the most effective love potion?"

"Precisely. It was the Commandment that enabled him to invent Amortentia," Dumbledore confirmed. "But it was also the Commandment contract that led to his death."

"He fell in love with a witch named Grainne Cormac. To be with her, he forged a Commandment contract, using a bottle of Amortentia to elope with her."

Wyzett frowned. "But love potions can't create real love. Why go to such lengths?"

"Perhaps out of possessiveness, or some peculiar obsession," Dumbledore mused, shaking his head. "But there was another reason—Grainne was already engaged."

"Her fiancé was Dilumudo's close friend, Finn MacCool. After the elopement, Finn became his bitter enemy and began searching for Grainne."

"Dilumudo truly loved her—so much so that he shared every secret with her, even the contents of his Commandment contract."

"As time went on, Dilumudo grew weary of controlling Grainne with Amortentia, and Grainne's long submission… gave Finn his chance."

"When Grainne finally recovered her senses, Finn learned from her that Dilumudo's Commandment contract forbade him from fighting with Erumpent boars. So Finn arranged an 'accident'."

"In the end, Dilumudo broke his contract and died under the tusks of an Erumpent boar. Wyzett, what do you make of that tale?"

"Erumpent boars are magical creatures from Africa, aren't they?" Wyzett frowned. "And Dilumudo lived in Dublin…"

"So, Headmaster, am I right in thinking that Commandment contracts are, to some extent, a matter of choice? Dilumudo thought he was being clever—choosing a restriction that would never come into play. He never imagined Finn would find an Erumpent boar and orchestrate such a tragedy."

"Commandment contracts are very difficult to outwit—they're usually bound tightly to the contractor's own fate," Dumbledore said, shaking his head. "But it is possible to obscure the true nature of the Commandment."

"In truth, that's exactly what Dilumudo did. The real content of his contract was that he must never fight with his own kin."

"And that Erumpent boar? It was actually his half-brother—transformed into a beast after a failed Animagus attempt."

Wyzett's brow furrowed even deeper. "Why does it feel like fate disguised as coincidence? A Commandment about Erumpent boars, a failed Animagus who just happens to be a boar, and also his half-brother…"

"Are those who forge Commandment contracts doomed to be led by them, forced down some predestined path?"

"A fascinating idea," Dumbledore said, a spark of surprise in his eyes. "It's certainly possible…"

"Sadly, few wizards dare to bind themselves to Commandment contracts. And those who do are usually prepared, at least in part, to break their oath…"

"That's why all bearers of Commandment contracts have come to a silent agreement—never, ever reveal the details of your Commandment."

"Then… what about someone like me?" Wyzett asked immediately. "Should I… invent a Commandment contract?"

"After all, there might be wizards out there who can sense the Commandment. Maybe acting more 'normal' would be safer?"

"Fabricate a contract?" Dumbledore gave him a long, meaningful look. "Making a unique Commandment seem ordinary is a form of self-defense. That's a wise instinct."

He recalled the first Defense Against the Dark Arts class of term, when Wyzett had solved the Cornish Pixie chaos using only Transfiguration and simple charms, without ever revealing his deeper powers.

Just as Wyzett was about to speak, Dumbledore raised a hand to stop him. "Wyzett, even if you do invent a Commandment contract, never tell me. Never tell anyone."
