Chapter 44: Anomalies in Uranus and Pluto
Looking at the letter in his hand, Wizette recalled Dumbledore's earlier words.
"Headmaster Dumbledore mentioned the forest. Looks like Tom Riddle's about to move again, and it'll involve the Forbidden Forest..."
Flames erupted from his fingertips and instantly ignited the letter, producing extraordinarily unusual firelight.
Ancient Magic: Animagus (Phoenix Form)
The moment Wizette became phoenix Animagus, the firelight seemed frozen, suddenly solidifying in midair.
He first plucked a feather and held it in his beak. The feather faintly flashed silver-blue light.
After completing this, he stared unblinking at the firelight. After a long while, he extended his wings toward it.
The firelight leaped again, following his wings and spreading flames across his entire body.
But the next second, everything vanished—the firelight, Wizette, the ashes—as if they'd never appeared in the corridor.
In the Forbidden Forest, flames suddenly ignited in a previously dark clearing, rapidly spreading and illuminating the surroundings.
Wizette walked out from the firelight and returned to human form.
"Very useful... but not proficient enough..." He summarized this phoenix apparition experience. "Can't activate apparition magic instantly like Fawkes."
Besides uplifting song and healing phoenix tears, phoenixes' most obvious trait was apparition.
They could vanish and reappear at will, like Diricawls, ignoring anti-apparition magic.
After this time familiarizing himself, Wizette could preliminarily achieve this.
But he couldn't yet do it instinctively like Fawkes—vanish and reappear, carry people along.
He needed fire's assistance, plus time for precise positioning, then complete the apparition process.
Centaur Firenze's voice rang out. "Who's there? The forest doesn't welcome arsonists!"
Compared to Bane, Firenze was obviously gentler. Though he held bow and arrow, he didn't attack while warning but instead chose to reveal himself and show goodwill.
Wizette's luck was good, meeting Firenze. Compared to other centaurs, Firenze treated humans more kindly and was easier to communicate with.
Wizette bowed slightly to Firenze and said softly, "Firenze, it's me."
"The young colt favored by unicorns?" Firenze lowered his weapon and came to Wizette's side.
He bent his knees, trying not to look down from above. "What are you doing here? The forest is dangerous."
Wizette asked, "Firenze, have there been any anomalies in the forest recently?"
"Anomalies?" Firenze thought carefully. "If you mean Uranus... there have been some anomalies."
Wizette murmured, "Uranus anomalies?"
Centaurs excelled at divination and integrated it into their lives. Sometimes spoke this way, suddenly mentioning observed celestial phenomena.
For most centaurs, though they observed stars, they only observed and wouldn't make changes based on stars—something Wizette struggled to understand.
Since Firenze mentioned Uranus anomalies—Uranus as an ill-omened planet—whether from centaur perspective or wizard astronomy, it indicated something bad would happen soon.
Wizette offered a feather. "Firenze, if the forest faces any threats... I hope you'll notify me."
This phoenix feather contained "Ancient Magic power incubated through time" and could let Wizette sense it like a real phoenix feather.
"I will..." Firenze held the phoenix feather. "Helping you helps this forest."
"He may be plotting something... Pluto also shows anomalies... So you must be vigilant."
Hearing this, Wizette felt Firenze knew something. "Firenze, are you talking about Voldemort? Or Tom Riddle?"
Firenze shook his head. "Planets don't give clear instructions. Interpretation depends on individuals. I hope I'm wrong. If unfortunately correct, I hope to minimize harm."
He raised the phoenix feather. "That's why I'll take this... I should leave..."
Leaving these unclear words, he turned and leaped into darkness.
Watching Firenze quickly disappear, Wizette rubbed his temples. "Riddles... centaurs."
The following long period, Hogwarts entered end-of-year mode. Professors assigned increasingly more homework.
Compared to Hogwarts' internal order, outside was far more turbulent.
The Daily Prophet struck again, doing an in-depth report on the Chamber incident fifty years ago.
The report's lines revealed that Dumbledore knew who opened the Chamber, deliberately concealed the truth, and even protected the student who opened it.
Once published, owls flying to the Great Hall multiplied, making Hogwarts internally discuss Dumbledore and the Chamber.
Facing such controversy, Dumbledore made no response. This silence seemed to become powerful evidence, further suggesting The Daily Prophet's report might be true.
When Wizette finished Herbology and returned to Hogwarts Castle, he saw many people standing by the marble staircase.
Seeing so many people whispering, hearing their conversations occasionally mention Ministry of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, Aurors, Dumbledore, Hagrid—Wizette already guessed.
But he hadn't mentioned related matters to anyone. Dumbledore's plans weren't suitable for spreading as gossip.
"How's the Ministry involved?" Anthony Goldstein frowned. "Are they coming to Hogwarts to arrest people again?"
"Again?" Michael Corner repeated curiously. "Another... exclusive from your relatives?"
The connection to Newt Scamander and Tina Goldstein meant Anthony often knew many past details.
Anthony nodded. "Uh... I can't guarantee accuracy."
Roommates exchanged glances. When Anthony said this, it usually meant true events, just not suitable for public spreading.
"Anyway, I think... they're just bullying Headmaster Dumbledore!" Anthony lowered his voice.
"After Gellert Grindelwald escaped from MACUSA, the British Ministry came looking for Headmaster Dumbledore."
"Who was it that came... I think the Head of Magical Law Enforcement at the time... But they didn't say the name."
