Fan looked around the train. His eyes scanned the room, taking in the cozy interior. Himeko and Welt were sitting peacefully, Fan gave a soft sigh and decided to sit as well, choosing a seat nearby. Meanwhile, Stelle was already on the move, her eyes wide with curiosity as she explored everywhere like a child seeing the world for the first time.
Fan turned his head toward the window. His expression softened. His eyes reflected the endless void of stars and galaxies beyond the glass. He still couldn't believe it—he was now in space. His breath caught in his throat at the sheer beauty of it.
It was a miracle. Technology wasn't this advanced on his past life. Not even close.
Fan's face fell slightly as he stared out. He kinda missed his parents… though he couldn't remember them properly anymore after transmigrating into this world.
Fan thought to himself, brows furrowing as he searched the fog in his memory."I think I had a brother… no, was it a sister? Why can't I remember? I can't even remember my friends or classmates…"
Himeko glanced at him, noticing his distant gaze.
She tilted her head slightly and asked with concern, "Something bothering you, Fan?"
Fan blinked, snapped from his thoughts, and offered a faint smile. "It's nothing. I just remembered my family."
Himeko's expression softened further. Her voice dropped to a gentle tone. "Oh? What happened to your family?"
Fan looked down at his hands. His smile faded. "I… can't remember them."
A brief silence followed before Himeko placed a comforting hand near her cup.
"Well, coffee might cheer you up," she said, trying to lighten the mood.
Welt's eyes suddenly went wide. His head slowly turned toward Himeko, alarm flashing across his face.
Welt said, clearly concerned, "I don't think he needs coffee."
Himeko shot a sharp stare at Welt.
Welt pressed his lips into a line and kept silent after that.
Fan raised an eyebrow, glancing between the two. He had seen the fear in Welt's eyes—he understood exactly what that meant.
Fan gave a slight smirk and said to Himeko, "I would prefer mango juice."
Himeko replied casually, "We are out of mango juice."
Fan's smile dropped a bit. "What about orange?"
Himeko shook her head. "Also orange juice."
Fan leaned back slightly. "What about water?"
Himeko sighed. "We are also out of water."
Fan looked defeated. "Then I think I'll stay thirsty."
Himeko leaned in a little and smirked. "Just give the coffee a try."
Fan let out a small groan. "…Fine, I'll give it a try."
Fan took the coffee that Himeko brewed and brought it to his lips. He drank. As the bitter liquid slid down his throat, his eyes widened in horror it was discusting too bitter.
He froze.
Nausea Effect: 20 seconds
He felt it—his body rejecting the coffee, trying to force it back up. The taste was unbearable. It clawed at his throat, screaming to be vomited out… but he couldn't.
Fan's hands trembled. He forced a painful smile and gave a thumbs-up, eyes still wide.
Fan turned, suppressing a gag, and asked, "Hey Stelle, you want some?"
Stelle, cheerful and unsuspecting, said, "Sure!" She grabbed the mug from Fan's hand without hesitation and drank.
There was a pause.
Stelle blinked, her expression blank.
"I feel weird…" she muttered, her words slurred.
Suddenly, she passed out—her body slumping to the floor—and foam began forming at her mouth.
Fan bit his lip, trying so hard not to laugh.
Pom-Pom's voice rang through the speaker, breaking the moment.
Pom-Pom: "Ahem, hi, hello. Attention all passengers. Attention all passengers."Pom-Pom: "The Express is about to conduct a warp jump. All passengers, please gather at the main hall."Pom-Pom: "I repeat. The Express is about to conduct a warp jump. All passengers, please gather at the main hall."
Stelle, who had just woken up, sat together with March. March was talking about her past, her voice enthusiastic and loud, but Fan didn't care much to listen. He stared forward blankly.
But March... she reminded him of someone.
"Annoying... she reminds me of my sister. I think I had both a little sister and a 2 years old brother..."
Before Fan could think more, a voice returned through the speaker.
Pom-Pom: "Hello hello hello. All passengers return to your seats. The train is about to make the jump! Hold on everyone!"
Pom-Pom began to count from 5 to 1.
The train accelerated. Lights flickered slightly as the vehicle sped through the stars.
In the blink of an eye, the train was now hovering above a planet covered with snow.
Himeko, March, and Stelle stood up to look out of the window.
Himeko, eyes locked on the icy world below, "After all those millennia... is this what Jarilo-VI has become?"
March turned to her, curious. "Huh? So that snowy planet is our destination this time?"
Himeko replied "Yes... looks like this trailblazing expedition won't be easy."
Pom-Pom interrupted them again.
Pom-Pom: "Spatial readout anomaly! Star Rail stability is down by 12%!"
Fan let out a tired sigh. He didn't want to hear them yap again. He pulled out his phone—a gift from March 7th.
He tapped away.
He installed some popular games. The internet on the Express was incredibly fast, and the downloads finished almost instantly. He smiled a little as he played.
In the background, Himeko, Stelle, and March were talking about something—probably important—but Fan was already immersed in his game world.
After a while, they entered the snowy planet: Jarilo-VI.
The team was made up of Dan Heng, March 7th, Stelle, and Fan.
They now stood in the middle of a snowy plain. The wind howled softly, carrying flurries of white across the landscape. To the side were tall cliffs that stretched up like icy walls, towering over them.
