Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Opening

Amir slowly walked toward the large table where Senir was seated.

As he approached, the squid-headed man noticed him as well, but showed no signs of recognition, acting as if he were a stranger.

Seeing this, Amir pretended not to know him and looked directly at the Isorian who resembled a hammerhead shrimp.

His curved neck supported a T-shaped head with two protruding eyes.

Ignoring the bodyguards around him, Amir walked up to the table and said, "I believe there is an unauthorized participant in this match."

The Isorian Sain spoke through the two mouths on either side of his face simultaneously, giving Amir the sensation of hearing two voices at once.

"I don't know what you're talking about, sir." The translator paused before emitting a cold, mechanical voice.

"One of my friends was captured by you and is being held in the gladiator arena's prison." Amir said.

"Friend? Oh!" Ryen looked at the human standing beside him. The human immediately understood and leaned close to the Isoran's ear, whispering a few words.

After stepping back, the human's unsettling mix of voices resounded once more.

"I don't know what your friend looks like. You should know that there are hundreds of contestants here."

"A Farlin who works at the port disappeared last night."

The human leaned in again and whispered something to Ryen.

"Disappeared, huh. How did you know he was here?" The hammerhead shrimp looked like a scoundrel.

"I have my ways," Amil said, pausing for a moment before continuing. "And I won't make things difficult for you. Perhaps you'd be interested in some nice jewelry."

Amir took out a beautiful ring that Flossis had left on the Traveler. There were many more like it on the spaceship.

Seeing the sparkling ring, the hammerhead shrimp's eyes lit up. Then, he drooped his face and put on a conflicted expression.

"There are so many spectators tonight. If we're missing an actor, it'll ruin the performance..."

Amir pulled out a bracelet he had prepared.

"Just let me see my friend."

"Haha, Fleur, go get this one?"

"Amir."

"Yes, Amir's friend. Please come out. Our guest can't stay with those slaves!" After speaking, Ryen quickly picked up the ring and began to play with it, constantly glancing at the bracelet in Amir's hand.

Amir sighed in relief. The jewelry from Flossis seemed to be of great value, or perhaps Ryen had a particular fondness for it.

The situation was finally resolved peacefully. Veronica, who had been watching, also sighed in relief.

In the prison cell, the spider robot crawled into Lango's pocket.

Two bodyguards burst into the room and carefully lifted Rango up.

Lango had only regained a small amount of his strength and couldn't resist being dragged out.

"Roar!" The Wookiee growled fiercely.

"Where are you taking me?" Lango asked weakly.

"Thank your friend. You're free."

Lango heard the Wookiee's call from behind. Though they had only known each other for a day, the Wookiee had become his friend.

"Free?" Lango wanted to resist and save his friend, but he was powerless.

"Must I rely on Amir again?" Lango fell silent.

Two strong bodyguards slowly carried Lango upward. The young Farlin watched the scene shift from darkness to light and from imprisoned prisoners to upper-class people dressed in vibrant attire talking and laughing.

He also heard someone loudly explaining the rules of the place to his friend.

"Out of hundreds of gladiators, only one will emerge victorious! I must buy the champion as my bodyguard—that would be so prestigious!"

"What about the others? Will they all be killed?"

"Haha, that's uncertain. There are state-of-the-art medical chambers outside, but they're only for gladiators who can fetch a high price. Even if the cannon fodder survive initially, they won't be saved unless they endure until the end of the match!"

"Isn't that a bit cruel?"

"Haha, you don't understand. This is the most primal form of combat. Everyone can only use the cold weapons from the arena. You'll soon see the raw beauty of primal strength!"

Lango remained silent as he walked.

"I heard that spectators can join the fight too. As long as you pay, you can be rescued at any time. There's no danger, so I want to go down and experience it, too!"

"Right! Even if you can't make it to the main arena, it's still worth trying."

Lango continued walking with heavy steps.

"Lango!" Amir saw Lango being "escorted" over and finally relaxed, rushing over to let him sit at a table. Veronica brought him a glass of water.

"Thanks, Amir." Lango took a sip of water and felt much better.

"Haha, you escaped death! Are you going straight back, or do you want to watch this 'exciting' performance?" Amir joked.

After catching his breath and taking another dose of medicine, Lango regained some strength and stood up.

"I'm going to the restroom to wash my face," he said.

"Can I come with you?" Amir thought he was leaving; after all, they couldn't appreciate the performance here. He was afraid that Veronica would suddenly stand up and fire a shot at the hammerhead shrimp to show him another kind of wild art.

"No, I'll be fine on my own."

Seeing that Lango was feeling much better, Amir and Veronica began to focus on the desserts on the table. These few pieces of cake cost five credit points. Their hearts were as black as coal.

At that moment, neither of them noticed that Senir had also left the table.

After devouring the uniquely flavored desserts, the two began waiting for Lango.

One minute, two minutes, three minutes.

"Did he go take a shit?" Veronica asked impatiently.

"Possibly. I didn't see a toilet in the prison."

At that moment, the spider robot returned to Amir's wrist.

"I didn't ask you to answer!" The red-haired girl glared at Amir.

Suddenly, a huge noise drowned out the surrounding sounds, and the host appeared in the middle of the six arenas. He was surrounded by several huge screens on the main floor.

Countless lights burst out around them, constantly forming incredibly beautiful patterns.

"Dear friends! Welcome to the grandest spectacle in Coruscant—the Underground Colosseum!"

Today, we will witness the rarest of events—the Bloody Massacre!" All the lights suddenly focused on the six massive sub-arenas before rushing toward the central arena.

"Today, all arenas are open! A total of 321 participants will compete—only the strongest will survive!"
