"Ethan!"
Serena Sullivan's heart suddenly grew uneasy. She'd asked him that question, and Ethan Grant was still silent; it had to be something to do with her.
What could it be, related to her, that would make Ethan go see Felicity Sterling!
"Has she hurt me before?"
Serena probed.
Only something like that would make Ethan keep it from her and everyone else, and go see Felicity in secret.
Hearing Serena guess right, Ethan's dark eyes grew even deeper. He looked at Serena tenderly. "How is my Serena this smart?"
His tone was filled with indulgence. He lowered his head slightly, his gaze falling on Serena's legs.
Every time he looked at those legs, Ethan's heart clenched in pain.
He hated himself, and he also hated that hit‑and‑run driver who'd left Serena like this.
"Is it about the car accident four years ago?"
Serena found the answer in the grief in Ethan's eyes.
"Impossible. Felicity wouldn't know that driver."
