Earlier, Felicity Sterling's attitude toward Elliot Walsh hadn't been very good. Elliot explained on her behalf that she was just in a bad mood. After thinking about it, Old Madam Walsh agreed, so she still wanted to see the wedding properly carried out.
Who could have known that when she came over with people to comfort Felicity, what she heard was that kind of conversation, and she even saw Felicity raise her hand and slap Elliot.
"Grandma!"
Seeing Old Madam Walsh at the door, Elliot said in a panic. Before coming upstairs he had deliberately asked the servants and learned that his grandmother wasn't around, only then had he come over to talk to Felicity.
Even now, though he was angry, he still wanted tomorrow's wedding to go on.
He thought that as long as Felicity realized she was wrong, as long as she thought things through, everything could still go back to the way it was.
