Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Pulling Out the Arrow to Save Lives

"Oh no, the arrow is poisoned."

Han Lei couldn't care less about the shock of time travel, her face suddenly changed.

Ping Chuan had already fainted, and beside him, the weakening Prince furrowed his brows, his lips also started to turn black.

"Quick, get them onto the emergency vehicle!"

After Han Lei spoke, she immediately moved to help the Prince, directing him towards the back compartment of the emergency vehicle.

Han Lei instinctively used the common phrases from her modern hospital experience, but at this moment, they sounded oddly out of place.

Fortunately, the guard named Xiao Zhengfei reacted quickly, firmly supporting Ping Chuan with both hands, his eyes followed the disappearing figure at the tail of the emergency vehicle.

Emergency vehicle?

Xiao Zhengfei felt a surge of doubt; this strange term was as mysterious as the woman who suddenly appeared before him.

But he didn't have time to ask further, he closely followed behind Han Lei, settling both of them inside the emergency vehicle.

Inside, the facilities were simple yet well-equipped, with various medicines and medical instruments neatly organized, clearly customized for emergency use.

Han Lei quickly got into her element, skillfully examining the unconscious Ping Chuan's injury; the arrowhead was deeply lodged in the flesh and had to be removed immediately.

Han Lei found various surgical tools and began the arrow removal procedure with focused concentration, her technique steady and swift.

The scalpel cut a line along the direction of the arrowhead to reduce the resistance of pulling it out.

The moment the arrow was extracted, blood gushed out, but fortunately, Han Lei was prepared, promptly using hemostatic medicine and sterilized cotton to treat the wound.

Her movements were fluid and natural, as if everything was under her control.

The Prince on the stretcher, who hadn't yet lost consciousness, and Xiao Zhengfei standing at the side watched in awe. They knew Han Lei was removing the arrow to save a life, but they had never seen such miraculous medical skills.

Next, Han Lei showcased her exquisite sewing skill.

The needle and thread danced in her hands like they were alive, weaving through Ping Chuan's wound. In no time, the previously horrific wound was neatly sewn up.

Xiao Zhengfei's curiosity could no longer be contained, so he directly asked.

"Miss, your...your medical skills are truly marvelous. Where did you learn them?"

Han Lei continued her actions without stopping, casually replied, "Of course, it's from medical university!"

In her heart, Han Lei was secretly relieved, grateful that her journey brought modern medical practice; otherwise, faced with such injuries, even she would be completely powerless.

Zhao Zun, barely holding on, had been observing from the side. Seeing that this mysterious woman was indeed helping them with no ill intent, his eyelids grew heavier until finally, they closed.

After stitching up the wound, Han Lei hurriedly hooked Ping Chuan up to an IV.

Since she didn't know what poison was on the arrow, she used anti-inflammatory and highly effective antitoxins, entrusting their care to Xiao Zhengfei.

Only after Han Lei turned around did she notice that the ancient Prince had fainted at some point too.

At this moment, she seriously inspected the ancient Prince. His bronze skin and features were handsome and regal; just a side profile was enough to captivate.

It seemed like destiny had a sense of humor, letting her travel through time, perhaps just to save a charming man!

Han Lei swallowed a mouthful of saliva, starting to remove the Prince's heavy armor and unbuttoning his long robes, revealing his robust upper body to her.

Oh my!

Han Lei's pupils contracted, involuntarily shivering.

The Prince's muscular back and shoulders were crisscrossed with wounds of various sizes.

The most terrifying was a knife wound stretching from his strong shoulder down to his waist; although they were old, the sight still made the doctor in her instinctively raise an eyebrow.

Zhao Zun's arrow wound was on his right thigh; thankfully, it hadn't hit the femoral artery, so the damage wasn't too severe.

Han Lei considered removing his pants for the procedure but thought better of it, simply using scissors to cut a large opening around the arrow wound.

Seeing the already blackened wound, Han Lei furrowed her delicate eyebrows, shaking her somewhat sore arms, she could only repeat the arrow-removal treatment.

In half an hour, Han Lei had handled everything.

"Miss, your medicine is incredible. Ping Chuan's lips aren't as black anymore."

Xiao Zhengfei observed Ping Chuan's complexion excitedly. He seemed to have forgotten he had drawn a sword against Han Lei earlier.

Han Lei was busy tidying up the surgical tools; she gave a sidelong glance at Ping Chuan, whose complexion had improved significantly, her tone calm.

"I'm not sure what poison they've contracted, and this medicine might not completely detoxify, but it's the best we can do for now..."

Before she finished speaking, Han Lei suddenly halted, her eyes looking askance at the ceiling.

Because in her mind, she suddenly heard a "ding" sound.

"Ding! Congratulations, host, for successful rescue, system rewards a thousand taels of gold. You only need ten taels to open the system mall!"

"What the heck? There's a system too?"

Han Lei's mouth twitched violently, she couldn't help but mutter.

"It's bad enough to send me through time, but to give me a system too; are you planning for me to stay here forever and not go back? I've had it."

Xiao Zhengfei, seeing Han Lei suddenly talking to herself and looking at the empty ceiling, couldn't help shivering.

However, he still gratefully followed up on Han Lei's earlier words, "It's already very good as it is. Uh...I still don't know the surname of our benefactor."

Having said that, Xiao Zhengfei half-knelt with clasped fists in salute.

"Huh?"

The returning Han Lei was startled by his sudden action, quickly pulling him up.

"Talking is fine, why kneel? My surname is Han, and my given name is Lei, like in flower bud. Back home, I'm a military doctor."

"So it's Miss Han, but I don't know where your home is..." Xiao Zhengfei examined the oddly dressed Han Lei, his suspicions growing.

Military doctor?

He had seen military doctors in their camp, but their methods were totally different from this one! And this steel-forged emergency vehicle, which nation's military doctor could be this formidable?

"Huaxia." Han Lei replied, still feeling quite annoyed about the system. After a while, she asked again, "Mr. Xiao, you haven't answered me why you were being chased?"

Xiao Zhengfei fell silent, hesitating whether to tell Han Lei.

Although Han Lei had saved the Prince and Ping Chuan, becoming their savior,

her appearance was too coincidental and powerful, making it hard for him to determine whether she was a friend or foe.

"Allow me to speak."

A weak voice drifted in, Han Lei turned to see that Zhao Zun on the other stretcher was already awake.

Pass out without knowing when. Wake up without knowing when. Han Lei felt this Prince Xiaoyao was somewhat inscrutable.

"You're awake. How are you feeling now?"

Han Lei raised his chin with her hand, gently moving it to check him over.

Hmm! It seemed her medicine was indeed effective; Zhao Zun's blackening lips were gradually fading, and there was already a bit of color returning to his pale face.

"My body is stronger than Ping Chuan's."

Zhao Zun aimed to explain why he fainted later and woke earlier than Ping Chuan. But this headless remark left Han Lei puzzled.

"Oh!"
