Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Zombie Showdown!

Lu Chuan looked at the results of his evening's work and nodded in satisfaction.

Now, the various storage spaces in the house, as well as the empty spaces, were filled with a variety of supplies.

Even though Qiqi had quite an appetite, it was definitely enough for him to eat for a long time.

After all, no matter how much the little guy could eat, at the end of the day, he was just a baby, only able to drink some formula each day.

Having prepared quite a bit of supplies, Lu Chuan decided to stay home for a while.

In the apocalypse, survival was key. Moreover, he had awakened the ability to control zombies, which meant this world was far from as simple as he had imagined.

Lu Chuan could understand that as the zombie virus evolved or as zombies continued to devour, their physical constitution strengthened.

But the fact that he could control zombie movements completely defied objective physiological phenomena.

Last night's blood moon hung high, leaving Lu Chuan feeling very uneasy.

Changes had appeared on his body, and he could not guarantee other zombies wouldn't experience the same.

No one knew what strange powers those zombies might obtain upon evolving. Lu Chuan decided to stay low for a while.

Having just been reborn into this world, only to be attacked by zombies, Lu Chuan didn't think his luck was particularly good.

After feeding Qiqi, Lu Chuan decided to observe from inside the building for a while, considering stepping out only once he confirmed the outside world was safe.

Anyway, he had already collected plenty of supplies and didn't mind staying a few more days.

"This world is so unfamiliar, with peculiar changes at every moment."

"If only I possessed strange abilities, I might accept this inhuman life. But now that there's Qiqi, I must become stronger!"

Lu Chuan went to the living room and picked up a steel machete about half a meter long.

He had found it during a sweep of this building, in a room on the sixth floor.

According to Lu Chuan's understanding, controlled knives were prohibited in this city.

He wondered what the original owner of this house did for a living, to own such a long, sharp machete.

The blade was straight, the body heavy and perfect for prolonged chopping, typical of a mountain-opening knife.

However, previous rules clearly no longer applied to this apocalypse.

After a night of the blood moon mutation, Lu Chuan, besides gaining the Puppet Control Ability, his body's constitution also strengthened significantly.

His body dexterity had become comparable to a normal human, although previously his limbs were stiff, capable only of simple movements.

Now, even when swinging the steel blade, he wielded it fluently, with the blade flashing silver sparks in midair.

Though Lu Chuan hadn't specifically trained in any blade techniques, as a zombie, his physical strength surpassed ordinary humans.

As he swung the machete now, his movements were powerful and swift.

Lu Chuan started practicing blade techniques in the living room based on the martial arts novels and movies he had seen.

In his hands, the machete cut through the air with a whistling sound.

He looked at the machete with satisfaction, its very sharpness made it an ideal close-combat weapon.

This machete's lethal power far exceeded that of a crowbar.

Lu Chuan felt confident that he could split a zombie's head in half with one swing.

The difference between humans and other animals lay in humans' ability to learn and use tools; zombies on the streets didn't use weapons, only their teeth and claws to tear.

But Lu Chuan was different, possessing human consciousness, naturally adopting more scientific and advanced ways to fight.

Lu Chuan was confident that facing other zombies with a blade, he could at least take on several at once.

While Lu Chuan practiced blade techniques, Ji Ruxue, after resting for a while, recovered her telekinesis and resumed exploring her Talent Ability.

In this life, Ji Ruxue possessed two incredibly powerful Talent Powers: one was Time Control.

This was something Ji Ruxue had in her previous life, familiar as ever, requiring only sufficient Telekinesis to activate, without needing practice.

The other was her newly awakened Talent Telekinesis Control, requiring Ji Ruxue to practice over time to fully comprehend and proficiently utilize it.

Ji Ruxue intensely focused her telekinesis, concentrating on a silver needle on the bedside table.

Under her telekinesis control, the silver needle slowly floated into midair.

Then, under Ji Ruxue's manipulation, the needle traced a path in the air.

The needle suspended over Ji Ruxue's head seemed quite unbelievable.

It was like a scene out of a science fiction film, astonishing to behold.

Although Ji Ruxue's control over objects was currently slow, she believed that given enough time to practice, it would become a powerful, invisible lethal method.

As her telekinesis gradually increased, she would be able to control increasingly heavier objects in the future.

Starting with needles, perhaps over time she could control flying knives.

Before long, two days had passed; during this time, Lu Chuan practiced blade techniques in the living room.

Ji Ruxue practiced her Sky-controlling Power in the bedroom; both lived fully, exerting all their efforts for better lives.

On the day Lu Chuan finished feeding Ji Ruxue, he suddenly noticed some commotion outside.

Looking down from the balcony window, he saw two zombies scuffling on the street.

The movement from the fight between the two zombies was significant, explaining how Lu Chuan, situated on the seventh floor, could hear it.

Lu Chuan was puzzled, as he saw no humans nearby those two zombies.

After a month of living together, Lu Chuan understood his fellow zombies quite well.

Zombies were bloodthirsty and emotionless, like unfeeling killing machines.

Yet zombies typically engaged only if there was a human presence.

Under normal circumstances, zombies wouldn't attack each other. Aside from contending for food, zombie infighting was rare.

However, clearly there wasn't any contested food below...

This was why Lu Chuan was so astonished at seeing the zombie fight below, as it exceeded the limits of his understanding over the past weeks.
