Kelly's eyes widened.
A cold, unnatural wind swept across the landscape, brushing against her skin and leaving goosebumps in its wake. Everything seemed to... pause. Like the world itself was holding its breath, waiting. The air grew heavy, thick with something she couldn't name, as if whatever was about to appear was too much for reality to handle.
And then she saw Olia.
Or rather—she tried to.
Because in the next second, Olia was swallowed whole by a mass of writhing flesh. It moved in sickening waves, pulsing like a living thing, like a giant, exposed heart beating over and over again.
