'Mortal danger?' Alex thought, confused. 'From whom?'
His gaze slowly moved down to the broken man slumped against the wall. Howard was still breathing hard, his face flushed with shame, his trousers visibly stained with his own release.
Alex scanned him quickly... nothing. Just a weak, average middle-aged mortal with no hidden power, no weapons, and no killing intent.
