I arched my brow. "Lie to you. What can I possibly lie about?"
His face was frosty, but I couldn't ignore the way he was sitting on me. His weight, his smell, and everything about him kept distracting me.
Don't be distracted, idiot!
I told myself ruthlessly.
I asked, my heart pounding but I kept a calm expression on my face. "Would you hate me if my father were a demon?"
Killian watched me with a cold expression, like a chilly icicle. The kind that tightened your heart.
He smiled, "Yes, I would hate you."
His voice was gentle but the words themselves were cold to the bones.
My chest felt a pain like I had been stabbed in the chest. Forcing a smile across my cheeks till it hurt. "Hahaah! That was a good one."
I shook my head, "My parents are long dead. I was raised in the sect, so I don't know who my parents are."
Killian nodded. "Don't worry, you have me. I'll protect you."
