Shadows flickered through the carriage. Sulfur and scorched earth filled the air.
Hellfire consumed flesh. A skeletal form emerged from the flames.
Fire licked across the bones. Lava-like patterns flowed across the black suit. Twisted roars echoed from the white bone throat.
Blazing flames roared in the hollow eye sockets. Gleaming with sinister, cold light. Like they could see every sin in the world.
Remus Lupin froze at the compartment door. Eyes wide with disbelief.
It happened so fast. Yet so overwhelming. A messenger from hell stood before him.
"Merlin's rotten wand."
"What am I seeing..."
Remus muttered.
The Dementors flooding the carriage stopped. Their tattered black robes trembled uncontrollably. The heat waves felt like blades cutting them.
Pale bone fingers wrapped in hellfire grabbed the still-regenerating Dementor. Hellfire exploded. Like hitting fuel. Ignited the air.
Strange black flames burst from the Dementor's body. Destructive power mixed with deep darkness. Made everything around it look more sinister.
Piercing soul-waves of agony echoed through the carriage.
Like encountering a curse from another world.
Black flames devoured all light and life. The entire carriage drowned in death and despair.
The Dementors finally moved.
These creatures who'd never known fear—now desperately surging toward the exit.
Tiger pressed his hand against the carriage wall. White jawbone opened slightly. A hoarse laugh escaped.
Hellfire surged like it was alive. Spread rapidly. Consumed the entire section.
Flames swept every corner. Terrified screams erupted from each compartment.
Remus dodged the flames frantically. Tried calming the students.
But then—
He noticed something on a first-year. The roaring flames weren't hurting them. When he reached into the fire, he felt... purified?
Purified?
Why did that word come to mind?
Staring at that sinister skeletal figure, Remus fell into thought...
The Dementors were terrified. The first-years more so.
They hadn't learned magic yet. Hadn't truly understood the magical world. This felt like actual hell.
Metal twisted under hellfire's touch. Turned deep crimson. Like lava flowing through hell.
Wood turned to black charcoal. Reeked of sulfur.
Oppressive fear spread.
The entire carriage seemed wrapped in invisible evil. No escape...
Dementors trapped at the entrance.
Like prey cornered. Facing Tiger's approach, they had nowhere to go. Chaotic soul-waves rippled. Like they were cursing.
"Hm?"
A crisp clink. Tiger paused. Looked down at the ash. Bent down. Picked up a unique crystal.
Pure black. Translucent. Red light flowing across its surface. Like obsidian wrapped in lava. Radiating mysterious, scorching energy.
An inexplicable sense of familiarity washed over him.
"Interesting..."
Sensing the weak soul-wave inside the crystal, Tiger glanced at the other Dementors with surprise.
He'd thought Dementors were just darkness and despair combined. Only good for making hellfire burn brighter. Nothing else. Didn't expect a bonus.
"Let's see then."
"What you can give me..."
Bone-chilling laughter echoed from the pale jaw.
Surging flames crashed toward the remaining Dementors like waves. Vengeful souls roared within.
"Look at me, scum!"
"You are GUILTY!"
The terrifying skeleton burst through the flames. Grabbed a Dementor by the collar. Fire exploded from its eyes.
Tiger didn't know if Dementors had vision. If they counted as life. But as the Dementor before him turned to stone, then crumbled to dust—
The question became irrelevant.
Guilty was enough.
And whoever he said was guilty, was guilty.
Like molten lava igniting dormant kindling, brilliant hellfire roared.
Crimson patterns and rising black flames intertwined. Before hellfire, Dementors became fragile prisoners. Wrapped in black fire, they trembled and struggled. But couldn't escape being burned to nothing.
Ten seconds.
These once-terrifying jailers turned to drifting ash. Only crystals remained.
The carriage fell silent.
Hellfire clinging to the walls rolled back. Twisted metal, charred wood—restored.
Heavy footsteps echoed through the corridor.
Firelight flickered.
The sinister skeleton stopped outside a compartment. Through the glass, stared at the first-years inside.
White bone fingers pointed at the fire-lit hollow eyes. Then at the pale-faced students.
At Remus's prompting, the panicked students frantically nodded. Tiger moved to the next compartment, satisfied...
The train's lights suddenly blazed. Flickered urgently. Finally stabilized.
Chaotic footsteps echoed through the corridor.
The Dementors' disappearance—
The Aurors panicked completely.
To prevent accidents, they'd assigned only two Dementors per carriage section to search for Sirius Black. The rest guarded the entrances.
Truth was, they knew the order was absurd. But facing orders from Auror Command, they had no choice.
To avoid being targeted by certain pure-blood nobles, many Aurors left the train after releasing the Dementors. Stood at the outermost perimeter under the excuse of preventing Sirius's escape.
Especially Tiger's carriage.
Remus Lupin had been a Hogwarts legend. Learning this new professor was there, the Aurors in that section cleared out completely.
Out of sight, out of mind.
But after it ended—
Fourteen Dementors had vanished.
This massive dereliction of duty sent them frantically searching every carriage.
As for the firelight in Remus's section? Perfectly normal to the Aurors. Encountering Dementors, silence would've been the real problem.
Every carriage had repelling spells. Even without the Patronus Charm, other magic appeared.
They couldn't disobey the Ministry's orders. But these students and professors could. Fudge wouldn't dare say anything.
They just hadn't expected—
Someone would actually destroy Dementors.
And only one thing could destroy Dementors:
A powerful Patronus Charm.
They questioned carriages where Patronuses appeared. Got nothing useful. Just endless curses.
Every terrified, grim face burned with fury at the Ministry and Aurors.
Finally, the Aurors fled the train in disgrace.
