Chapter 25 - Yes, I will

'Alfa, luna wants to visit her grandfather's grave! What should I do?' Sinclair mindlinked his Alfa.

'I knew this day would come. Take her there.'

Alfa was still sitting on his bed, unable to sleep. It was way past midnight, and Arya still hadn't returned. Maybe this was the closure she needed.

What happened in the past was wrong, and if there would be any way to change it, he would.

'Alfa, you have to come here.' Sinclair mindlinked him, just as he was drifting off to sleep. He saw the time, 5am.

'What's wrong?' He was already on his way to the burial grounds.

'The luna, she's passed out.'

'What?' Alfa increased his speed. 'What happened?'

'Alfa, she was crying a lot, and suddenly she fainted.'

Alfa reached there and saw her lying on the stones of her parents' grave.

He gently picked her up and made his was to the hospital, while Sinclair mindlinked his mate on the situation.

Arya had been admitted for two days now. The vampire lord Caspian had left, stating he couldn't stay away for too long since Arman, his second in command, who made decisions in his absence, was here with him.

Alfa went to pick some fresh wildflowers, as he knew those were his mate's favorites, and went to the hospital.

"That was..." his mate's voice came, and he could not stop himself. "Arya."

He rushed into the hospital room to discover Arya was awake but still in bed. "How is she, Gretchen?"Alfa asked the doctor. Although she was Ronald's mate, she paid him more respect than his beta had in years.

"She is stable but very weak...." the doctor was saying, but all he could think about was how he almost lost her. "... needs complete bed rest..."

He remembered that he had to mark her..."I had to mark her..." "Alfa, I have to advise against it..." The doctor was saying something, but he was more interested in Arya's heartbeat now. It sounded like drums beating inside her chest. Was she that afraid of being marked?

He went to sit by her bed. "Arya, I know we started off on the wrong page, but this is important to me. Will you be my Luna?" He asked and saw the shift in her face as he handed her the wildflowers he had picked that morning.

She did look confused. A little hurt, but really confused. So her wolf was right.

"I... I... " "I know you can not decide in a day, but I want you to carry my mark, and I want to carry yours. We can mark each other, then leave the mating part for later, when you are actually ready," Alfa said, and Arya just kept staring.

"How can I agree? You killed my family! You killed Patricia! Because of your father, I couldn't come to my grandpa's funeral... how can I just accept your proposal?" Fresh tears streamed down Arya's face.

Alfa hated seeing his mate cry like this. His heart hurt, and Braxen whined.

"Arya, I'm sorry. That was my first change, and I smelt you. I was going to meet you, I didn't know I would cause such an unforgivable pain to my own mate," Alfa said, his eyes red and puffy.

"As for Patricia, I don't have anything to say in my defense. And my father was a complete ass. I'll admit that. But I'm not my father."

Alfa had been compared to his father every time, and because of him, Arya hated him, and he couldn't stand that. It hurt.

"Can you at least give me a few days to think? At least until I recover completely?" Arya asked.

Alfa thought for a while. At least they are going somewhere with this... she didn't straight up say no. Alfa could only hope that he wins her heart over in this short time.

"Ok. Take rest and do think about it," Alfa said before he kissed her hand and left.

"Luna, you're very lucky," Dr Gretchen said, coming in.

"Why's that?" Arya asked.

"It's not my place to say..." The doctor with grey eyes hesitated.

"No, please. I want you to be able to openly say about your thoughts," Arya insisted. "If I don't like it, I'll simply disagree, and if I like it, well... I like it."

"First, forgive me, but I heard your conversation... I feel that you're lucky because I've always heard that when an alfa finds his mate, he just marks her. They don't give them time to think or make decisions, just become a luna to show off to others. The more violent an alfa, the stronger he is considered. Alfa Flowerew is giving you time to think," she said, her eyes to the ground.

"You're kinda right... but I feel that I just have 1 option; to say yes. No was never an option, but I am glad that I have time to adjust to all this... wolf thing before the entire luna thing falls on my head," Arya said, half smiling.

Dr Gretchen also smiled. "You're just like Luna Genevieve, Alfa Flowerew's mother. She's really amazing and I'm sure you'll love her."

"How about Alfa Kane?"

Gretchen's face dropped, and she tried swallowing a lump that wasn't there. "He's.... let's just say, Alfa Flowerew takes his mother's personality."

Arya knew she was uncomfortable, so she decided not to press.

A familiar scent hit their nose, and the doctor blushed. "Can I come in, luna?" Sinclair asked.

"Of course you can."

"My Luna, Alfa sent you some lunch," he said, handing her a container, while glancing at his mate. Arya saw him smile for the first time.

"Is there something else, Sinclair?"

"Please luna, call me Ronald."

"Ok, is there something else, Ronald?"

"I just came to ask, how are you feeling?"

"Much better, thanks to my doctor." Arya looked at them, and both were blushing. "She took good care of me."

Looking at them now, Arya noticed similarities between them. They had the same eyes and hair colour... simply speaking, they are a match made in heaven.

Three days later, Arya was finally discharged from the hospital, and Alfa came to pick her up in his car.

When they reached Alfa Flowerew's house, the question Arya had been dreading finally came, "Will you be my Luna?"

"Yes, I will."
