Arya couldn't get proper sleep throughout the night. She kept tossing and turning in bed, thinking about her suspicion. What if she is wrong? What if Michelle is not the mole, and she is thinking wrong? Rodriguez would never forgive her for this thing!
She had to think of a plan to bring her out into the open, in front of everyone, if she is, in fact, passing information to Alfa or Ronald. But first, she needs to make it a hundred percent certain who the actual betrayer is.
She planned to ask Michelle if she had told anyone about Rodriguez being her brother. If she has, that means that person could be the one Arya is searching for.
Rodriguez didn't want to acknowledge their relationship, and Arya understood that. It still hurt that he just told her that he was born as a rogue and, therefore, had no family. Technically, though, he is correct. Being born as a rogue means no adult is present in your life, and you're on your own.
Alpha Rodriguez is the only known case where a pup was born as a rogue and lived to see adulthood. Other cases were also there, but the pup didn't survive past a week.
Truly, great grandmother Elora was watching over them. She is the reason that Rodriguez survived.
Sleep finally consumed Arya, only for a rooster to start crowing somewhere. She put a pillow on top of her ears to stop the sound and again tried to sleep, but being a light sleeper had its own disadvantages.
She sat up in bed, hair disheveled, and eyes drooped. She made a mental note to ask who owns a rooster in this pack so she could go there for some fresh rooster soup.
Sleep again came to her, and finally, she did sleep properly.
Getting down for breakfast, Arya realized that it was almost lunchtime. She slept in, and no one woke her up!
"Good morning, miss! I saved you some breakfast and coffee," came Donna's cheerful voice.
"Good morning, Donna, and thank you. I absolutely need coffee," Arya said, smiling.
Deep within, everyone was a snitch in her eyes. Any one of these people could be it.
After eating her breakfast toast with jam and peanut butter, with a side of scrambled eggs and coffee, Arya stepped outside. She asked the guards if the other girl, her next sacrifice, was well fed and looked after.
She didn't want any personal bond with her, as it would be harder to eliminate her, so she kept a guard and a nanny to watch over her. She changed the nanny every day, so she didn't get attached to her and help her escape.
"Yes, miss. Yvonne fed her and bathed her, and they were playing when I came here," the guard replied.
Arya nodded and saw Michelle coming her way. She excused the guard and called out to her.
"Michelle, hey!"
"Hi, Arya. How's everything?" Michelle asked.
"Great. I slept in. Just woke up. Anyways, one question: You didn't happen to tell anyone about Rodriguez and me being siblings, did you? I mean, I don't really want this to come out and make things more awkward than it actually is!" Arya asked, almost whispering the last part.
"No, of course not. I didn't want this pack to feel that their Alpha is now communicating through their Luna," Michelle replied, laughing.
"Thank God. I was worried for nothing!" Arya said, making a mental note.
If she hadn't told any other person in this pack about this, then either she's the snitch, or there's someone else who's undetected roaming in the pack. A wolf with no scent! Marius or Yalandro! Or both!
But they weren't in the pack, or Arya and the others would have noticed one or two wolves with no rogue scent walking around!
Arya had to test her to see if her institution was correct. Maybe one more test to confirm?
"Speaking of the Alpha, where is he? I needed to speak to him!" Arya said, sounding casual.
"He said he'd be in his office."
"Thanks, Michelle."
Arya slowly turned around, making a sad face. She hoped Michelle would stop and ask her what happened, and she could feed her something to know for certain if she was involved with Alfa.
As planned, Michelle looked at her and said, "Hey, Arya, are you all right? You seem really... broken."
Her concern was laughable, considering that she might be involved with another pack.
"Yeah, actually I am," Arya said, trying to think of something to feed her. "I was planning to visit my aunt and uncle, but I want to take Rodriguez with me, but I'm unsure if asking him to come would be a good idea! Maybe I'll go alone and talk to them, then take Rodriguez with me... what do you think?"
"Um... well... I think you should ask him... I mean, I don't know him well enough to make certain decisions about what he might like and dislike. By the way, when do you plan on going?"
Aha, the question Arya was waiting for! The 'when'.
"I haven't made up my mind yet, but I'll tell you after I talk to Rodriguez. Hopefully, he will agree to visiting too. I mean, imagine my family finally learning that my brother never died. They would be thrilled," Arya said, knowing full well that if she tells Alfa this, he will tell her aunt this, and her aunt would be surprised as to why Arya denied that Kimberly knew about Rodriguez already.
"I'm waiting for you to snitch this to Alfa." Arya thought to herself.
"That's, in fact, a great idea," the future Luna said.
They both parted ways, and Arya went towards Rodriguez office. She knocked on the door, and when no one answered, called out, "Rodriguez, are you there?"
The door opened, and Rodriguez stood there, looking like a zombie. Eyes red and puffy, hair all over the place, the scars that covered his arms looked even more scary than they used to.
"What do you want?" He asked, his voice sounding like a truck's dying engine.
"What happened to you?" Arya asked, eyes wide with concern.
"What do you want?" He repeated, saying each word slower than the last.
"To talk!"
"About?"
"Us visiting out family!"
Rodriguez rubbed his forehead with his fingers, closing his eyes.
"I have told you before..." he looked at Arya in her eyes, then continued, "I have no family. Stop trying to make up a relationship that does not exist!"
"Really? Because it seems like you're trying to convince yourself that! Your eyes tell a different story," Arya said, concern replacing anger.
"Get out."
"I am out."
Arya turned just as the door slammed shut.
"That went well," Arya whispered to herself, as she went towards her cave, the only place in this pack she felt like she belonged.
