"What do you mean the kids are all coming to my estate?"
The Count had a look of panic as he surveyed me, my lackey, and the trail of children behind us.
"It's only fair. You bought them, after all," I shrugged. "Did you think I asked where your carriage was simply to walk you there and bid you good night?"
Honestly, this was a stroke of genius on my part. If the Count and Cardinal Richmond actually had sinister ulterior motives, they'd be unearthed by me handing these kids over. And if they didn't and were actually just doing a good deed (doubtful), then they'd take good care of the children and give them a proper place.
Either way it worked out in my favor.
"You heard the Lady. Open the door and let's get these guys loaded," Wolf whistled, a little too amused by my taunting.
The Count looked at the two of us one more time, then the kids, and then got a strange smirk on his face. "Alright, we can put them in my carriage."
