Chapter 14 - The Hanged Man

" Arghhh~... "

Pluvia awoke with a groan. Her body is still aching from her last-minute training session last night. She shook her head softly as she thought about the lingering memories from that dream last night. As she tried to think about it, she found her memories hazy. While she could still remember most of the dream, the details were blurry now that she was awake.

' Well... at least that's the first one of these dreams that acts like a regular dream... '

Pluvia silently cursed her dad for his continued attempts to make her falter in her awakening maturity.

" He's already accepted me trying to get stronger, but won't accept me becoming a big girl? "

She muttered angrily to herself. As Pluvia swung her legs over the side of the bed and attempted her stand on them, she suddenly felt her legs grow weak beneath her as she fell forward on her face.

" Ughhh... "

Pluvia struggled to push herself off the floor as her body decided to stop cooperating with her. After a few moments, she finally brought herself off the floor and painstakingly got back up onto her bed.

" What the hell is this...? "

Pluvia murmured softly as she examined her body and her bout of weakness.

" Oh... "

The reason for her weakness became apparent to her soon enough. Her body was tired and worn out from constantly moving and training. She had spent almost two months now, spending every second she could training either her body, her swordsmanship, or her mind. It seemed her body could no longer handle this abuse and had decided to make her bedridden in an act of revenge.

Throughout these past two months, she had managed to push herself this far due to her intermediate regeneration and her natural physique as a dragonoid; however, it seemed she had finally managed to push herself so hard that even these two factors could no longer keep up. She groaned softly to herself as she simply lay back in bed. The maids would not bother her even if she didn't get up when she was supposed to for training. Plus, her regeneration would have her up and running again within a few hours... probably.

*___*

' This is so dumb... '

Pluvia was bored out of her mind. She had spent practically every waking moment for the past two months working, so now, when she was given this sudden free time, she was immensely bored and had nothing to do. Given her current condition made her unable to train physically, she had some maids bring her books from the Federation Library located within the castle. However, those maids had brought her such dumb books that she was getting more bored the more she read.

' Why would those idiots bring me fairytales... The Great Tenma War? The World Destroying Dragon? Angels? What, do these maids think I'm a toddler? Giving me such fake books... Like, come on... who would ever believe that Aunty Velgrynd and Dad were enemies at some point? '

To top things off, these wacky children's tales were also using the names of her family as though this stuff was actual history!

' I'll complain to dad later...actually, he works too slow; I'll tell mom instead. '

Grumbling to herself quietly, Pluvia hoisted herself out of bed and forced her body into moving as she made her way to the Federation Library to find some more accurate books.
