"Hyaku Hachi Shiki: Dark Hook Punch!"
With both hands blazing, Kyo Kusanagi hurled a torrent of crimson fire backward.The scarlet flame streaked across the ground like a meteor, striking a huge figure and exploding into a burning inferno that swallowed its target whole.
Yet before the fire could reach its full intensity, it flickered out—snuffed like a candle.
Through the dying flames emerged Norman Osborn, his massive, mutated body almost unscathed. He chewed something with a grotesque calm and turned his predatory gaze on Kyo.
"Don't worry," he said, his deep voice rumbling. "You're next."
Dropping to all fours, Norman's rippling muscles bunched like steel cables before he lunged forward with terrifying speed.
"Dong Jyo…" Kyo's voice faltered—but he had no time for grief. Flames erupted around him again as he vanished into a sea of fire.
A thunderous boom shook the battlefield.Norman burst through the firestorm, missing Kyo by a fraction, but the mere shockwave sliced Kyo's skin open in a dozen places. If any of those hits had connected, he'd already be dead.
By now, Kyo had confirmed it—Norman Osborn was using raw, instinctive power. No martial technique. No discipline. Just overwhelming, destructive strength.
Even so, facing him was like dancing on a knife's edge. One misstep meant instant death.
Five of the volunteer fighters had already fallen, even with Kyo, Iori Yagami, and Ryo Sakazaki doing everything they could to draw the monster's attention.The three of them—the strongest among all the martial artists—had volunteered to hold Osborn back, buying time for the others to escape. Yet still, people kept getting caught and destroyed in moments.
It was a nightmare with no end.
"Haah! Haou Shoukou Ken!"
A brilliant wave of ki shot forth, slamming into Norman's head. The blast gave Kyo a moment to pull back.
"So strong…" Ryo muttered, forcing a bitter smile. "This thing is beyond anything we've ever fought."
His left arm trembled violently—shattered during the earlier clash. He had sealed the wound through sheer control of his muscles and ki, but he was barely standing.
They were at their limit. Norman's speed and power were absolute; even fleeing separately wouldn't save them.
"Don't give up!" Kyo gasped, panting hard. "Stay sharp—especially you, Iori! Keep control!"
He glanced at Iori Yagami, whose aura was flaring dangerously. The curse blood inside him was going berserk.Kyo knew: if Iori lost control, he'd only become the next victim.
"I know…" Iori's voice was a rasp. The monster was simply too large, their usual techniques useless. The fact that they were still alive was already a miracle—held together by pure willpower.
Then Kyo froze, sensing something above.
"Fall back! NOW!"
Without hesitation, Iori and Ryo obeyed, trusting Kyo's battle instinct completely. They dashed away at full speed.
A heartbeat later, the roar of incoming shells tore through the air.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Explosions rocked the entire coastline. Fire and shockwaves engulfed everything, turning the battlefield into chaos.
Norman's enraged bellow thundered through the smoke, scattering dust and flame. When the air cleared, his enormous body stood nearly unharmed.
Before he could move again, another volley struck—this time a 127mm naval shell slammed into his head, blasting him to the ground.
Out at sea, seven Arleigh Burke-class destroyers had opened fire in unison. The MK45 naval guns roared, each salvo as powerful as a full artillery battalion.
The coastline was shredded; soil and rock blasted hundreds of meters into the air.
Then came an even deeper explosion underground—bunker-buster bombs from F-15s streaking in overhead.Each one hit like a meteor, carving hundred-meter craters into the earth. Within three minutes, the U.S. forces had dropped over a hundred tons of explosives on the target.
The area looked like the surface of the moon.
Everyone thought the monster had been vaporized—until a thermal image appeared on the pilots' screens.
"Wait—heat signature rising fast! It's still alive!"
A blinding blue beam suddenly cut through the smoke, skimming over the ocean and striking one of the destroyers.
From above, a glowing blue line flashed—and a heartbeat later, the sea erupted in steam.The destroyer split in two, molten metal dripping into the waves as the crew jumped overboard, scrambling to escape the sinking vessel.
