Seraphina's POV
Time seemed to slow down as I stared at the blade protruding from his chest, at the blood spreading across his shirt like a dark, terrible flower blooming across white fabric. My mind went blank, unable to process what I was seeing.
This couldn't be real.
This couldn't be happening.
Adrian's face had gone deathly pale, his eyes wide with shock and pain. He looked down at the wound, his hands trembling as they moved toward his chest, as if he couldn't quite believe it either.
Then his knees buckled. He fell forward, and I instinctively reached out to catch him, but he collapsed onto his knees before I could. His breathing came in harsh, ragged gasps, blood now flowing freely down his chest.
"Adrian!" I dropped to my knees beside him, my hands hovering over the wound, not knowing what to do, how to help, how to stop the bleeding.
"Finally," a cold, familiar voice said from behind him. "I took my revenge, Adrian Blackwood."
I looked up, my blood turning to ice.
