Chapter 41 - Changes In The Battlefield

Lee nodded as he heard his companion's insight, "Indeed, you're right…"

Though he stood with his sword unsheathed, he didn't participate in the onslaught. He stood behind, musing on the battle.

Even though one of their companion had died right before them, he didn't look a bit disheartened or enraged.

His yellow pupils, devoid of warmth, revealed smugness instead.

It seemed as if he couldn't even bother to care about his fallen companion.

"You just managed to kill him by surprise," the one engaging in the battle sneered as he overpowered Valen.

There wasn't even a shred of fear in their eyes. Instead, it looked like the two of them were enjoying this situation.

Valen, pushed into defense, didn't utter a word.

Each blow he parried sent a shockwave rippling through his arms. From the few exchanges, he had figured he wasn't a match for them in terms of strength.

Gritting his teeth, he persevered as he held his ground against this ruthless Leo-kin warrior.

"Don't hog all the fun now, Jin… I haven't had my fill, yet." Lee said.

Clank!

"Let me have some fun first…" Jin revealed a nasty grin as he swung his blade. Sparks flew.

"Come on… Show me some more…" He continued, his dark yellow pupils revealing extreme amusement.

Just from a glance, one could tell, Valen wasn't a match for this beast of a man before him. Since earlier, he hadn't been able to land even one clean hit.

It was also obvious that the Leo-kin warriors were toying with him.

The warrior named Jin was having it so easy that he was chatting while fighting him. It was as if the foe before him possessed no threat to him.

While Jin was having fun, Valen was suffering.

His breathing had become heavier than before, and even his arms had gone numb to some extent from the rippling force that coursed through after every blocked strike.

Yet still, the flames of hatred burned deeper inside him than the pain that coursed through his tired body, preventing him from accepting defeat.

He wouldn't accept defeat until he wipes the smug grin off his foe's face.

"Hoh! You're holding quite well. It seems like you have learned to fight before…" Jin complimented upon sensing the refined swordsmanship of his foe.

He could tell that, unlike the other elves he had fought before, this elf before him had trained. He wasn't just thrusting his sword at random, and there was some pattern and calculation embedded in his attack.

Even so, he wasn't worried.

Even if his opponent had trained in swordsmanship, it amounted to nothing before absolute strength. He could tell that his opponent was skilled, but he overpowered him.

Compared to the strength he possessed, the strength of his opponent was like that of a teen against a grown-up adult.

Jin's eyes lit up as he let out a shout, "Let's see if you can stand after this…"

Riled up, he let out a series of swings one after the other.

Clank! Clank! Clank!

Sparks flew as the two swords collided, each strike clipping the sharpness from Valen's blade.

He gritted his teeth as he faced this barrage of strikes that wore him down. While blocking the strike of his opponent, he backed down.

Even though he could tell that he wasn't a match for his opponent, he couldn't bring himself to surrender.

Instead, he was waiting for that one moment when his opponent lets his guard down to strike him.

"Oi, Oi, Oi… I haven't had my chance yet. I swear if you kill him, I'll kill you!" Lee yelled frantically.

The nonchalant appearance from before was now replaced with restlessness, and he appeared rather frantic. Though he still clutched onto his sword, he pointed its tip at his companion rather than the opponent.

Jin, however, ignored his complaints. He was having fun, and his opponent was entertaining. Even if he killed him in the process right now, he wouldn't mind.

With every swing, he felt his blood boiling with exhilaration.

This sensation of pleasure, he couldn't feel it even when having intercourse.

He knew it; he was better suited to be on the battlefield.

Overcome with exhilaration, he kept thrusting his sword mindlessly like a maniac, each block fueling his satisfaction.

"No! This motherfucker will kill him at this rate…" Lee frowned. "I haven't had proper exercise in a long time… I can't let this mf kill him. I need to switch…"

Thinking such, he rushed forward to intervene.

But just as he rushed forward to intervene, he felt an unusual presence lurking behind him. He had been so engrossed in their fights that he hadn't even noticed the presence that had crept behind him in silence.

Sensing this unusual presence, he vigorously rolled his pupils sideways.

However, just as he turned around, a shadow engulfed his vision. Then what followed was complete darkness.

Scratch!

Thran scratched the meat of his face, blinding him in turn. The residual part of his skin and muscles clung to his claws, while his claw dyed red.

Just from a single swing of his palm, he had disfigured the face of his opponent.

He had scratched him so deeply that even his skull was revealing. From the scratched part, one could see some bony white skull sticking out. Blood flowed from the missing chunk of meat.

"AHHH! AHHH!! AHHHHH!!!"

Lee let out a bone-piercing screech as he screamed in agony.

The pain felt so ridiculous that he felt like he was going insane. The throbbing pain coursed through his body, sending jolts all over.

Having his eyes scratched, he couldn't even see.

What lay before him was complete darkness.

Lee looked like a zombie with rotten meat falling off his face.

Jin was startled by the sudden scream, and he turned behind to check in panic.

But just as he turned around to see what was going on, the tip of Valen's blade struck into his left chest, impaling his heart in turn.

Valen had been waiting for this opportunity.

Now that the opportunity presented itself, how could he ignore it?

Without hesitation, with utmost focus, he pierced the heart of his opponent while he was distracted.
