Chapter 71 - "Lord Demon's Darling"

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

When Yukino Yukinoshita saw the contact name "Lord Demon" flash across her phone screen, she instantly felt her blood boil.

That stupid nickname only reminded her of what happened at noon—the shameful moment when that jerk had pulled her into his arms and stolen a kiss.

Her sister wasn't home tonight; she had gone to take care of some family business, apparently attending some kind of banquet. Yukino thought she could finally enjoy a peaceful evening to herself.

But of course, that hateful Andrew, after managing to get her phone number, just couldn't wait until nightfall to start pestering her.

She glanced at the screen, then chose to ignore him—pretend she'd fallen asleep and hadn't seen the message.

Except, a minute later, her phone buzzed again, then again, several times in a row.

So much for concentrating on her homework.

Annoyed, she snatched up the phone and tapped the screen.

But the moment she read the messages, her expression stiffened, panic flickering in her eyes.

It was him again.

Lord Demon:"Yukino, ignoring me on purpose, huh?""Good, good. I like girls with a bit of attitude.""But if you don't reply, I'll just come over and have a chat in person."

Come over? Was he insane?! If he really showed up, wouldn't she be completely at his mercy?

Yukino's face flushed crimson. Forget her homework—she hurriedly typed back:

Yukino:"I was just in the shower, didn't notice. Don't come over. If you need something, just text me."

After hitting send, a guilty feeling crept in. She rarely lied—never, really—but around Andrew, she kept saying things she didn't mean. She didn't feel like herself at all.

Sure enough, his reply came fast:

Lord Demon:"Oh? A shower? Then send me a cute picture, or I won't believe you."

Yukino:"I'll call the police. This is sexual harassment!"

Lord Demon:"Hahaha, relax, I'm just kidding. Don't get so worked up."

Yukino:"Then get to the point. I'm busy. Say whatever you need to say and make it quick."

Say it and leave, idiot! As if she had time to waste on him. Of course, she only dared to think that part.

Lord Demon:"No reason. Just wanted to bother you a little."

"…."

Yukino puffed out her cheeks and tossed the phone onto her bed, fuming.

What kind of person does this on purpose? Who even thinks like that? How could anyone be this infuriating?

Just as she was seething, her phone buzzed again.

She didn't want to look—she was angry, after all. But when she thought of what might happen if she didn't… she grudgingly picked it up.

The message made her face heat up instantly, red all the way to her ears.

Lord Demon:"Yukino, can I kiss you tomorrow?"

Yukino:"No."

Lord Demon:"Then what about a hug?"

Yukino:"No hugs either!"

Lord Demon:"Tch, then if you won't let me kiss or hug you tomorrow, I'll just come over right now."

Yukino froze.

What?! Right now?!

Panic surged, and she typed back in a hurry:

Yukino:"Don't! Don't come here! Why do you have to bully me? What did I ever do to you?"

Lord Demon:"Because you're too cute. And hey, the fact that we both got hit by that car together proves we're destined, right? You got unlucky and ended up paralyzed, but you were lucky enough to meet me. Doesn't that make us meant to be?"

Yukino:"As if! You used that as an excuse to go after my sister, and you still have the nerve to bring it up? Scumbag, creep, pervert—I hate you more than anyone!"

Lord Demon:"Ouch. That hurt, Yukino. I can't believe you'd say that to me."

Yukino:"If you're hurt, then go to sleep and stop bothering me."

Lord Demon:"Nah. Now I feel bad. Guess I'll head over."

Yukino:"No! Don't come. You're not allowed!"

Lord Demon:"Then say something nice to me, and I'll let it slide."

Yukino stared at the screen.

Say something nice? To him?

Was he out of his mind? How was she supposed to praise someone so infuriating? Not cursing him out already felt like a miracle, and he wanted compliments? Keep dreaming!

Lord Demon:"What, don't know how? I'll teach you. Just say you like me. That you like me the most. That you'll always belong to me. Say that, and I'll be happy."

By now, Yukino's face was burning, hot all the way to the tips of her ears.

How could he shamelessly send something like that?! Forcing her to say it?

Unbelievable.

Her phone buzzed with a message, dripping with possessiveness.

Yukino Yukinoshita: "Say one more word, and if you dare come over, I'll… I'll bite you!"

The second she hit send, Yukino's chest tightened. She glanced around her room, as if expecting him to suddenly step out of the shadows, pin her against the wall, and smother her with kisses.

But ten minutes passed. Nothing. No reply, no sudden knock at the door.

Yukino puffed out her cheeks, sulking. That jerk—he got her worked up for nothing. He never planned to come, did he?

Just as she was about to shove her phone aside and get back to studying, it buzzed again.

"Tomorrow, wait for me at the school gate. Let's see if I don't shut you up with a kiss."

Yukino's face went crimson. With a frustrated little cry, she tossed the phone onto her bed. What is wrong with him? Is he seriously not planning to let her go?He already has her sister—how is that not enough?

"Unbelievable…" Yukino pressed a hand against her chest, trying to calm the wild pounding of her heart. Studying was out of the question now.

That night, sleep never came.

Meanwhile, Andrew was in high spirits after teasing the ever-proud "second young lady." If it weren't for having to look after little angel Mahiru Shiina, he'd have already gone straight to Yukino's place to bully her some more.

This kind of thing… was addicting.

Especially when he saw that proud girl's helpless, begrudging expression—humiliated yet unable to resist—it only made him want to push further.

Honestly, he doubted she hated him that much. Otherwise, why would she have responded to his kiss?

"Andrew, dinner's ready."

Mahiru's gentle voice pulled him from his thoughts.

"Coming!"

A warm, home-cooked meal from his angel, followed—naturally—by their "exercise time."

With a soft gasp, Mahiru was swept up into his arms, her petite body clinging to him as he carried her toward the bedroom.

Her cheeks burned red as she shot him a shy glare, then squeezed her eyes shut, lips trembling in anticipation.

The sight of her so obedient, so defenseless, so heartbreakingly pure and sweet—it drove Andrew crazy.

He dipped his head, capturing her soft lips in a kiss that said everything words could not.

And after that… well, you can imagine the rest.

But while Andrew and his angel were wrapped in their own little world, something far away stirred.

In the heavens, after a hundred years, the great gates finally creaked open once more. From the portal stepped two dazzling figures.

The first was a petite girl with golden hair that shimmered like sunlight. White wings unfurled behind her, and a glowing halo floated above her head. At a glance, she could've been mistaken for Mahiru herself—the resemblance was uncanny.

The second was a silver-haired beauty, taller and far more voluptuous than her golden-haired companion. With a playful smile, she immediately hooked an arm around the smaller girl.

"Gab, we finally get to descend for our trial! I can't wait to see what human schools are like!"

The golden-haired angel—Gabriel—returned her grin with a flawless, radiant smile."Raphael, no matter what awaits us, we must never forget our mission: to bring light to the people, to protect peace in this world."

"Yeah, yeah, peacekeeping is your thing. Don't you have the Trumpet of Judgment anyway?"

"Mm. And word is… demons will also be sending their own to the human world this time. Things could get interesting."

The two angels chatted idly as they descended.

Gabriel, the top graduate of the Angel Academy, was revered among her kind.

And her new residence? By pure coincidence—directly above Andrew's.

"..."
