Chapter 73 - "The Demon and the Second Daughter"

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Andrew leaned in closer to the silent second daughter.

His warm breath brushed against Yukino Yukinoshita's ear.

"Sorry. It's just… you're too cute, Yukino. I couldn't resist teasing you again."

The so-called apology carried zero sincerity. Yukino's brows furrowed, and she punched him in the chest, unable to hold back.

Her eyes started to glisten, teeth clenched tight as she glared at him, as if she could kill him with her stare alone.

But while most boys would shrink under that icy glare, Andrew didn't so much as flinch.

He ruffled her hair, then stole another kiss from her soft, pink lips.

"Come on, don't look at me like that. I've already hugged and kissed you anyway. What's a few more times going to change?"

"That's not the same! If you were in my place, would you just accept being humiliated, bullied, and unable to fight back?"

The words spilled out of Yukino before she could stop herself. She was simply fed up.

Andrew nodded with an oddly serious look. "True. If I were you, I wouldn't take it quietly either."

"Then since you can't fight back, why not try enjoying it instead? I'm not bad-looking, right? Not ugly?"

"Ugh, idiot. Looks don't matter. You're a pervert—and that alone makes you impossible to accept."

"Heh, 'impossible to accept'? Then who was the girl clinging to my neck yesterday, answering my kiss?"

"That… I… I don't know! But it wasn't me!" Yukino's cheeks burned red as she stubbornly turned away.

Andrew just smiled, brushing her silky hair and holding her even tighter.

"Fine, don't admit it. I'll just keep that adorable side of you in my memory forever."

Yukino shoved him away in shame and frustration. "Forget it! That wasn't me! You must've used some kind of devilish trick. Stop bringing it up!"

"Cross my heart, I didn't. Besides, only the lowest kind of demon would mess with a girl's mind like that."

Even while explaining himself, his wandering hand slid down to her thigh, over the black knee-high socks she wore.

Yukino panicked instantly, grabbing his wrist. "S-stop…! What if someone sees us?" she pleaded.

His eyes burned as he leaned closer. "Kiss me once, and I'll stop."

"You… you're unbelievable!"

"Hurry up and decide. I can't promise no one will walk by this pier."

Yukino had no way out. In a blur, she pecked his cheek and pulled back.

"There! Happy now, you pervert? Let me go!"

Andrew touched the spot on his cheek, grinning with satisfaction.

"Not bad. Guess I'll let you off for today."

Even teasing a girl had its limits. If Yukino's bright eyes ever went dull, what fun would be left?

As soon as he released her, she scrambled to straighten her uniform and smooth out her socks.

That damn lecher!Always grabbing her legs…

Once she had collected herself, Yukino ignored him completely and started toward the school.

But behind her, Andrew's voice called out, full of hidden meaning.

"The school's angel has descended, you know. Oh, right—I forgot to tell you, Yukino. You've been looking for a way to fight back against me, haven't you? Well, here's your chance."

She froze and turned, her eyes complicated. "Why tell me this? Aren't you afraid I'll report you and have the angel destroy you?"

Andrew smirked, his gaze steady.

"I don't fear death. Maybe I fear pain a little. But what I fear most… is losing something important."

"And Yukino—you're worth more to me than my own life. If you don't want me teasing you anymore, then grab this chance. Get close to the angel."

He was curious, after all. Could this proud, socially awkward girl actually make friends with someone so radiant?

Yukino clenched her fists, teeth grinding.

If she couldn't, then what? Was she just supposed to resign herself to him forever?

"You'll regret this. I'll find a way to punish you—you'll wish you never told me about the angel's descent!"

"Sure, sure. I'll be waiting. Good luck, Miss Friendless." Andrew waved her off, laughing as he walked away.

Yukino stomped her foot in frustration.

"Friendless second daughter? Who says that to someone's face?!"

Even if it was true… hearing it from him was infuriating.

Her anger burned hot for a moment, then fizzled out. Her shoulders sagged, her whole figure sinking into gloom.

Even that jerk knew she had no friends. He didn't even believe she could earn the angel's friendship.

And honestly… she wasn't confident either.

After all, she'd never had a single friend. How was she supposed to start now?

And more importantly—

She had no intention of changing herself. She refused to bow her head, to make herself small and pitiful just to please others.

If she did that, she wouldn't be Yukino Yukinoshita anymore.

Before anyone realized, the morning classes were already over.

Yukino Yukinoshita had been turning it over in her head the whole time, but she still couldn't come up with a way to make friends with an angel.

Not to mention—she didn't even know who the angel was.

Honestly, even Andrew… if he hadn't said it himself, who would've guessed he was a demon?

After thinking for a while, Yukino's cheeks warmed. She pulled out her phone.

Andrew felt his phone buzz. He glanced at the screen, and the corner of his mouth twitched.

It was from the second daughter of the Yukinoshita family.

And the content made him want to facepalm.

Yukino Yukinoshita: "Hey, pervert, tell me the angel's name. I can't find her."

Demon Lord: "When did you get so shameless, Miss Second Daughter? You're seriously asking me—a demon—for angel intel?"

Yukino Yukinoshita: "Didn't you tell me to watch and learn? Well, I'm learning from you. How do you think I'm doing?"

Good grief. Out of all things to learn, she had to pick up the bad habits?

This was basically fighting fire with fire, beating shamelessness with even more shamelessness.

Not a bad strategy in theory… but the second daughter was still too naive.

Andrew shot back one line, instantly flustering her.

Demon Lord: "If you're asking for a favor, at least show some manners. Calling me a pervert? Just you wait—I'm itching to kiss you right now!"

Yukino Yukinoshita: "D-don't you dare!"

Reading that reply, Yukino's face turned crimson with regret.

How could she forget? He was a shameless lecher through and through.

Worse, he was the kind who always followed through. If he said he'd kiss her, he really would.

The favored ones are always fearless. And for Andrew, most of his so-called "punishments" for her came in the form of kisses and hugs.

Without even realizing it, Yukino had started to grow used to his indecent behavior.

Not only that—she even egged him on by deliberately calling him names like "pervert" or "jerk," just to rile him up.

Demon Lord: "No can do. I'm burning up over here. Can't you say something sweet for once?"

At that, Yukino pursed her lips.

He bullies her and still expects her to sweet-talk him? In his dreams!

…But what if he really did come over?

Grinding her teeth, Yukino hurriedly fired off another message.

Yukino Yukinoshita: "Andrew, could you please tell me the angel's information?"

Andrew: "...…"

What a clunky way to change the subject.

Then again, it was unfair to expect the friendless second daughter to suddenly handle things smoothly.

If she could, she wouldn't be Yukino—she'd be Haruno.

And truthfully, switching to "Lin-kun" was, in its own way, her way of backing down.

Andrew's mood softened, and he decided to stop teasing her.

Demon Lord: "Her name's Gabriel White. Transfer student. Go find her yourself."

Yukino Yukinoshita: "Thank you."

Demon Lord: "Not good enough. I risked my life to give you this angel info. If you really mean it, you should thank me with a kiss every day. Deal?"

Yukino nearly spat at her phone.

How could he shamelessly type out such blatant harassment?

What she didn't realize was that she—who normally never chatted with anyone on her phone—was already growing accustomed to these intimate conversations with him.

It meant that even if her mouth refused to admit it, her heart and body were already inching closer to accepting him.

Sliding her phone back into her bag, Andrew looked across the classroom at the new transfers: Gabriel, Satania, and Vignette. His feelings were complicated.

That's right. Gabriel, along with two demon girls from Hell, had all coincidentally transferred into Class 1.

He couldn't help but wonder how the second daughter would manage to befriend Gabriel. For some reason, he was looking forward to it.

As for the angel's judgment? Andrew wasn't particularly worried.

First of all, neither of the two demon girls had noticed his true identity. Gabriel hadn't either.

Second, he had his super regeneration. His soul was immortal, his body could endlessly respawn.

Even if his soul was destroyed, as long as his familiars lived, he could be revived.

And surely the angels wouldn't target Mahiru Shiina or Asada Shino, right?

Andrew's familiars were essentially his wings, their magic his anchor. With that, his survival ability was maxed out.

"..."
