Chapter 346 - Chapter 345: Goh's Second Scare

At noon, Natsui had lunch with Professor Sakuragi, his daughter, and his two assistants, Chrysa and Ren. Afterward, he went with Koharu to Sakuragi Park to visit his Blastoise and Venusaur.

Since there were no other Pokémon crowding the area, Blastoise had naturally taken over the largest pool in the park, while Venusaur had claimed a patch of the densest bushes near the pool as its territory.

The two Pokémon were living very comfortably here and were in high spirits. It was clear that Koharu had been taking very good care of them. Seeing their master, they both ran over affectionately, rubbing their heads against Natsui's arm.

"Are you two getting used to living here? You haven't caused any trouble, have you?"

Both Pokémon shook their heads.

In fact, as the representatives of peace among Natsui's team, he naturally knew their personalities. He only asked out of subconscious concern.

Patting their heads, Natsui turned to Koharu and thanked her solemnly. "My Pokémon must have caused you a lot of trouble. Thank you for your hard work during this time."

"You don't have to be so polite with me," Koharu said, looking down at her toes with a shy expression. "Blastoise and Venusaur are very gentle. I like them a lot too."

Natsui shook his head. "No matter what, I should thank you. Although it's a bit embarrassing to say, I'll be catching more Pokémon in the future, and I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you even more then."

"It's no problem," Koharu gave Natsui a slightly bashful smile. "As long as they're your Pokémon, Natsui, it doesn't matter how many come."

What a kind and understanding girl…

Although she said that, Natsui knew that Koharu actually had a somewhat distant and detached attitude towards Pokémon. For her to go to such lengths for him was already a huge favor.

It was only because he was on good terms with Koharu. If it had been anyone else, she certainly wouldn't have bothered with such matters.

Feeling emotional, Natsui took out their Poké Balls and released all his other Pokémon, except for the three legendary birds, letting them play here. After chatting with Koharu for a few moments, he let out a big yawn and went back to the dorm room he had stayed in before, alone.

The dorm room was still the same as when he had left it. However, it was clear that someone had been taking care of it regularly; it was clean and free of dust.

On the bookshelf were the two trophies from the Indigo Conference and the Orange League. And in the glass cabinet were the gym badges from the two regions. These shiny souvenirs of various shapes sparkled with a faint light under the reflection of the sun.

Other than that, everything was so familiar, as if yesterday had returned. Lying on the bed, Natsui felt a wave of nostalgia, as if he had returned to the time when he had just arrived in Kanto.

And from this, he could also feel that Professor Sakuragi really didn't treat him as an outsider, not having taken back the room just because he had left.

This also warmed his heart.

The sunlight shone on his face.

Because of the rush of the past few days, Natsui hadn't had a proper rest. Now, lying on the bed, a wave of fatigue swept over his body, and without realizing it, he slowly fell asleep.

Meanwhile, in Sakuragi Park, Koharu brought out a few plates of berries and was treating Natsui's Pokémon.

"Please, help yourselves. These are all berries grown in the park. They're delicious."

She squatted on the ground, a faint smile on her face, looking at the Pokémon before her. Through her affection for their owner, she found all of them to be very pleasing to the eye.

Just then, a small, dark-skinned boy with his hands behind his head, whistling, walked in from outside.

To be able to enter this undeveloped park so casually, this person was, of course, her childhood friend—Goh.

"Goh? What are you doing here?"

Goh slowly walked up to Koharu and grumbled, "I was wondering why I couldn't find you at your house. I asked your mom and found out you had come here. Huh? Whose Pokémon are these?"

"They belong to Natsui, of course!"

"Natsui?"

An image of a tall, handsome man couldn't help but appear in Goh's mind.

"So they're his," Goh said, glancing around. Seeing only a few scattered Pokémon, he said dismissively, "I remember his Pokémon were few in number the last time I came here. He's been traveling for so long, and he still only has these few. That's really not many at all."

This sentence immediately made Koharu frown.

She said defiantly, "Natsui only catches Pokémon he likes. Do you think everyone thinks like you? Haven't you seen him battle before? Even if he has very few Pokémon, he can still become a champion!"

"So what?" Goh lifted his head. "I admit he's very good at battling, but the number of Pokémon is what determines whether a trainer is qualified! If it were me, I would have already caught enough Pokémon to fill this entire park!"

What a strange theory!

Koharu rolled her eyes at him. Her good mood was instantly ruined.

Seeing that Koharu was ignoring him, Goh didn't mind and leisurely walked to the water's edge. But just as he got close, he suddenly felt something strange at his feet.

He looked down and saw the water surface explode as a massive body suddenly emerged from the water.

"Waaaah!"

He was startled. When he saw clearly what it was, he saw an extremely terrifying, huge head, staring at him with blood-red eyes.

It was a Gyarados!

Gyarados opened its mouth, looking as if it was about to swallow him whole. Instantly, Goh felt a chill run through his body, his legs went weak, and he fell into the pond.

SPLASH!

Koharu heard the sound from behind and, seeing that Goh had fallen into the water, couldn't help but cover her mouth in surprise.

"Goh? Are you okay!?"

Goh swallowed a few mouthfuls of pond water. Fortunately, he could swim a little, and after an initial struggle, he scrambled out of the water in a panic.

As he climbed ashore, soaking wet, he was about to say something when he turned his head and saw Gyarados's massive head getting closer and closer. He could almost feel the breath from its mouth. He quickly shut his mouth and hurried away.

Is this Gyarados trying to scare me to death!?

And it didn't make a sound. Is it going to eat me?

In a daze, he vaguely remembered that the last time he had come to Sakuragi Park, it had been this very Gyarados that had scared him into the water.

He never thought that after so long, it would happen again.

Darn it!

Although he wanted to curse it for being so ill-mannered, seeing Gyarados still staring at him with its red eyes, Goh wisely kept his mouth shut.

But then again, why was this Gyarados so scary?

Are they all supposed to be this big?

Clearly, after this incident, Gyarados had left a lasting shadow in Goh's heart.
