Chapter 394 - Chapter 393: Ecruteak Dance Theater

At 7:26 PM, on the bustling pedestrian street of Ecruteak City, Natsui and Erika were slowly walking among the crowd.

A hazy moon hung high in the sky, obscured by dark clouds, unable to illuminate the city.

Fortunately, there were colorful lights of various colors and glowing stall signs of different sizes, dispelling the darkness on this street and bringing a brilliant light to the tourists.

People came and went on the pedestrian street, and from time to time, people and Pokémon would stop in front of the various stalls.

The sound of people talking, laughing, and the shouts of the stall owners rose and fell, but it didn't feel noisy. Instead, it created a great atmosphere.

It could only be said that, as expected of one of the top cities in the Johto region, even on an ordinary night, it could gather so many people. There were even many street performances in collaboration with Pokémon on the side. It was truly very lively.

Natsui looked down, slowly walking forward with the crowd.

At this moment, he was holding a stick of cotton candy in one hand, taking a bite from time to time, while his other hand was operating his phone.

Beside him, Erika was also holding many snacks she had bought from the stalls. After taking a bite of each, her brows relaxed slightly.

As if to follow the local customs, she had also changed into a gorgeous kimono. Her face and outstanding temperament made the passing pedestrians turn their heads to look.

But…

Compared to her own cooking, the taste of these foods was not particularly special, but in such an atmosphere, eating them occasionally was still quite nice.

A burst of playful laughter came from beside her.

She paused and turned to look, only to see a group of small children with lollipops in their hands and masks on their faces, running past her, laughing.

Seeing that they had almost bumped into this beautiful big sister, the children all stopped and quickly apologized.

"Don't run around in the street. Be careful."

Erika, unconcerned, gently soothed them with a few words. Seeing that Natsui had already walked far ahead, she waved to the children and, with a few quick steps, caught up with him.

Natsui hadn't noticed the little interlude. His fingers were tapping quickly, and at a certain moment, after raising his eyebrows, he looked at Erika and proudly showed her his phone.

"I can't believe the tickets for the Ecruteak stage are so hard to get. I've been trying to get them online for over half an hour, and my fingers are almost numb. I was just lucky to snag them when someone returned their ticket."

Erika tucked her hair behind her ear and couldn't help but smile.

"It can't be helped. We came late, after all. If we had booked a few days earlier, we would have definitely gotten a good seat. But on the other hand, it also shows that the five Ecruteak sisters are really popular, doesn't it?"

"That's true," Natsui nodded. "If you think about it that way, to be able to get tickets before the show starts is really lucky."

As they spoke, the two had already reached the end of the road and arrived in front of a magnificent and detailed wooden building.

This three-story Japanese-style building had eight colorful flags in front of it, rustling gently in the breeze. A dozen or so lanterns also hung from the eaves, and under the light of the candles and the lights from inside the building, the entire structure looked magnificent.

It read: Stage Play—The Legend of the Burned Tower

So that's what they're performing…

Natsui was a bit disappointed.

After all, the two of them had already roughly understood the legend here from the travel guide, so such a story naturally held no novelty for them, which made him lose his interest.

It was also his fault for being too anxious when he was getting the tickets and not noticing today's program.

But since they were already here and the tickets had been bought, they couldn't just go back now, could they?

Taking out the e-tickets and letting the staff check them, the two entered the Ecruteak stage.

Passing through the lobby, they took off their shoes and, along with the other audience members, followed a long wooden corridor, finally arriving at the performance hall.

Today's performance was a full house.

Besides the main audience seats in front of the stage, there were also two levels of side seats on each side. All in all, there were at least seven or eight hundred seats.

And since it was close to showtime, it was already packed with a dense crowd of people.

The two followed the numbers on their e-tickets and came to the side seats on the second floor, finding their own seats.

But they were called seats, but in fact, it was just a cushion.

Following the example of the others, Natsui also knelt on the cushion and waited quietly with Erika.

Because it was a side seat on the second floor, although the seat was a bit off to the side and couldn't provide the best view, the view was really good. The entire stage was presented before him without any obstruction.

To be able to get such a position before the show started, he was already very satisfied.

The cold air from the air conditioner blew over his head. Although the audience was packed, it didn't feel stuffy.

Looking down at the main audience seats below, he saw that most of the people who came to watch this performance were young people and children. Many of them had brought their own Pokémon. Old people were rarely seen.

The old people here must have already gotten tired of hearing this story…

After a few casual glances, Natsui suddenly let out a soft "huh."

Hearing the sound, Erika couldn't help but look at him.

"What's wrong?"

Natsui didn't speak. When Erika followed his gaze, she saw a person dressed as a monk, kneeling there.

Beside him was a Bellsprout, which seemed to be his Pokémon.

Is he a monk who came here from Violet City?

To think that even a monk would come here to watch a stage performance. It's very rare.

In fact, just like in the real-life Japan, the monks here could also eat meat, get married, and have children, and even own their own businesses.

Therefore, although Erika was surprised to see him here, she didn't find it very strange.

The time for the performance was getting closer and closer.

The curtain on the stage had not yet been raised, but the sharp-eyed Natsui saw a small gap open at the side door of the stage. A girl was peeking out from there, as if secretly observing the audience's reaction.

Is she a staff member here? Or a stage actor?

Natsui looked at her curiously, and perhaps sensing his gaze, the girl suddenly looked at him.

As their eyes met, she, like a startled deer, quickly pulled back.
