Chapter 449 - Chapter 448: It Was Just a Bite

In the arena, the battle continued.

After discovering that Hypnosis had no effect, Trinity made a decisive call and continued to have Poliwrath attack with Water Gun.

The Water Gun traced an arc through the air and once again accurately hit the red Gyarados.

But the red Gyarados completely ignored the damage from the Water Gun. It even disregarded the large chunks of rock from the collapsing pillar that smashed onto its body!

Trinity was secretly amazed.

This is just absurd...

Precisely because she also owned a Gyarados, she knew how terrifying this red one was.

The Water Gun was one thing; due to the type matchup, it would only deal half damage to a Water Pokémon. But those rocks were solid physical damage!

And Gyarados's physical defense wasn't particularly outstanding. To be hit by so many rocks and still move as if nothing happened was completely illogical!

Even an armored vehicle hit by so many large rocks from a high place wouldn't come out without a single scratch, right?

But even if Water Gun couldn't cause much damage for now, she firmly believed that if it was used enough times, sooner or later the red Gyarados wouldn't be able to take it!

Every little bit of damage counts!

In the water, seeing its prey escape, the red Gyarados turned again and swam towards Poliwrath. Its massive head was half-submerged, its red eyes locked on its opponent. The enormous serpentine body closed in on Poliwrath, creating an incredibly oppressive atmosphere!

When it reached the pillar where Poliwrath was, it once again raised its head and gave the pillar a light bump!

CRASH!

Although it didn't look like it used much force, in the face of its massive body, the pillar crumbled almost instantly.

And at the top of the pillar, as the Gyarados struck, Poliwrath repeated its previous action, once again jumping to another nearby pillar.

However, this time the pillar was slightly farther away, almost ten meters. But luckily, its jumping power was sufficient, and with a running start, it just barely made it to the top of that pillar.

Ignoring the falling debris, the red Gyarados turned its body and once again closed in on Poliwrath.

It was unhurried, not fast, not slow, like a very patient hunter.

In contrast, Poliwrath, after steadying itself, had to quickly launch another Water Gun attack. When the red Gyarados drew near, it was forced to jump to another pillar again.

This was the fourth pillar it had landed on. It barely had time to breathe. The constant moving, attacking, moving again, and attacking again had it sweating profusely. Moreover, the next pillar was even farther away than the previous ones, already reaching fourteen or fifteen meters!

Such a distance was no longer something that could be crossed with a simple jump!

Sure enough, when Poliwrath was only halfway across, it began to fall from the air!

Fortunately, just before hitting the water, it managed to grab the base of the pillar and quickly scrambled up with its hands and feet.

But this delay allowed the red Gyarados to swim right up to it. This time, Poliwrath didn't dare to attack. Before it could even catch its breath, it was forced to jump to the next pillar.

It was like a frantically fleeing frog, but no matter how it fled, it seemed it could never escape the huge shadow looming over it!

Under the red Gyarados's ramming, the pillars fell one after another. Soon, except for the last pillar under Poliwrath's feet, all the others had been completely destroyed by the red Gyarados.

Poliwrath stood on the remains of a collapsed pillar, gasping for breath. At this moment, it was isolated and helpless, with nowhere left to run!

The audience felt a deep sense of empathy, putting themselves in Trinity's shoes. They swallowed hard, feeling only profound fear and helplessness!

Where can Poliwrath go now?

They looked at the battlefield. Poliwrath's side of the arena was littered with submerged piles of rubble. Although the dozen or so pillars on Natsui's side were still intact, for Poliwrath to get there, it would have to cross more than half the field. But with its current stamina, could it really make it?

Even if it had the stamina, if it tried to swim across, it would inevitably be caught by the red Gyarados!

Difficult! It's just too difficult!

They thought that forcing Natsui to recall Blastoise would lead to a smooth path for Trinity, a glimmer of victory. But they never expected that she would instead run into the final boss!

And a kind of ultimate boss that was impossible to defeat!

Trinity was also frowning with worry, but the situation was beyond her control. Under her helpless gaze, the red Gyarados was already swimming towards the last pillar under Poliwrath's feet!

Poliwrath glanced at its trainer and could see the deep worry in her eyes. But it knew that with its remaining stamina, it could no longer fight...

The red Gyarados swam to the base of the last pillar, but contrary to what the audience expected, this time it didn't destroy the pillar. Instead, most of its body left the water, its massive form rising higher and higher from the surface, until its huge head rose far above the pillar before finally stopping!

Only then did the audience truly get a glimpse of how gigantic the red Gyarados was!

Barely half of its body was out of the water, yet it already towered a head above the stone pillar!

At this moment, the red Gyarados looked down from above at the Poliwrath on top of the pillar. It suddenly opened its massive jaws, and as a deafening roar came out, Poliwrath felt a hurricane of misty air blow past. It had to plant all four limbs on the ground just to barely avoid being blown off the pillar!

To the audience, this scene didn't look like a Pokémon battle at all; it looked more like a weak human fighting some kind of behemoth!

In the command box, Trinity's heart was in her throat.

Poliwrath...

At this point, she seemed to have already foreseen what would happen to Poliwrath, but she did not choose to recall it.

Although defeat was inevitable and she was extremely worried, she couldn't just surrender!

She was a Pokémon trainer, after all. She still had her dignity and bottom line. In front of so many spectators, and in a final like this, even facing an unbeatable opponent, if she really surrendered, no matter how highly Natsui would be praised afterward, she herself would become a background character, laughed at by everyone who remembered this match!

To yield without a fight has never been my style!

"Poliwrath, use Take Down!!"

Trinity shook her head and shouted her final command.

At her voice, Poliwrath also used its last bit of remaining stamina to launch a death-defying charge at the red Gyarados!

Running forward with great strides, Poliwrath got faster and faster, then leaped, aiming to slam hard into the red Gyarados's neck!

For most Pokémon, the neck is one of their weak points!

Faced with such an attack, the red Gyarados simply opened its massive jaws, revealing sharp teeth, lowered its head slightly, and swallowed the self-trapped Poliwrath whole in one gulp!

"Poliwrath!!"

Instantly, only Trinity's scream echoed across the entire stadium...

"This is terrible!" The announcer's voice suddenly grew much louder. "Poliwrath has been eaten by the red Gyarados!"

The audience could clearly see the red Gyarados close its mouth, and in the next second, make a distinct chewing motion!

The crowd erupted, people jumping to their feet, unable to believe their eyes!

Is this really a Pokémon battle?

Amidst the chaos, only Natsui stood there, unmoved.

He, of course, saw the audience's reaction, but these people were overthinking it. No matter how ferocious his red Gyarados was, he would never train it in that direction!

Unlike wild Pokémon, it was, after all, a Pokémon caught and trained by a trainer. It had long since shed its most primitive habits. How could it possibly do such a thing!

Swallowing it was only because the red Gyarados was so massive that the Dark-type move "Bite" had turned into the visually more brutal "Swallow and Chew".

Sure enough, a few seconds later, the Gyarados suddenly opened its mouth again, and with a forceful spit, Poliwrath was spat out whole.

It fell onto the pillar like a deflated ball, covered in blood, and completely unconscious.

Seeing Poliwrath being spat out by the red Gyarados, people finally breathed a sigh of relief and sat back down, their hearts still pounding. Even Trinity couldn't help but wipe the cold sweat from her forehead.

It wasn't that they were overreacting; it was just that this red Gyarados was too terrifying, making them subconsciously think of the worst-case scenario!
