Chapter 249 - Chapter 249

"Kakashi-sensei, you're still too naive!" Sakura sighed, shaking her head. Kakashi might look like a worldly-wise old fox, but he was actually pure—purer than anyone could imagine. "If you keep this up," she added, "I'm gonna start worrying about whether your married life with Ayame-nee-san will be harmonious!"

"Don't talk about such topics as a child!" Kakashi blushed. Discussing R-rated matters with his students felt way too awkward.

"Pfft," Sakura scoffed while flipping him off, then turned her sparkling eyes toward Temari and Gaara. "Temari, wanna be the main character of my next novel?"

"My next book? No way, not me again!" Temari took a cautious step back. "What kind of book is that? Don't tell me it's some eighteen-plus stuff again?"

Recalling how naturally Sakura had once spoken about certain books before, Temari figured that possibility was pretty high.

"Where are you getting that from? I meant the Wrong Love series!" Sakura rolled her eyes in frustration. "You know, a cold-blooded, dangerously obsessive younger brother; a shy, timid older sister who wants to get closer but never dares; a squad leader with forbidden feelings for his student; then the brother locks the sweet sister away, leading to some mature developments. Oh yeah! And your couch-potato brother Kankuro can have a side role too!"

"You've gotta stop!"

As Sakura became more enthusiastic in her explanation, Temari's face flushed red and she quickly covered Gaara's ears. Her innocent little brother mustn't be corrupted!

Although she'd only recently become close to Gaara, Temari had already transformed into a total little-brother obsessive. Compared to Kankuro—the couch-potato brother—Gaara was much cuter and softer. Too bad she hadn't realized this sooner, blinded by her idiot father's influence. But better late than never—her little brother was still adorable as ever.

"Lock up the sister?!" However, Temari was slightly too slow.

Gaara had already overheard Sakura's words and echoed them in confusion.

"Yeah exactly! Locking Temari up until she becomes someone who belongs only to you—mmph mmph! What are you guys doing?! [Why are you covering my mouth?]"

Before Sakura could finish speaking, Hinata and Ino dragged her away, one from each side. Tenten helpfully covered Sakura's mouth with both hands.

"Ahaha, sorry about that! She just went temporarily insane," Kakashi laughed awkwardly. This troublemaker kid used to spread weird ideas around Konoha—that was bad enough. Now she dared spread these odd notions to other villages too? Was she trying to make Konoha lose face globally?

"She has a split personality—that's normal for her," Sasuke muttered darkly. He recalled all too well when, during his activation of the Three-Tomoe Sharingan, Sakura had concocted an illusion where he saw his beloved brother having intimate time with Shisui. She even provided a thoughtful background song—"Green Light (a famous pop song by Jolin Tsai)."

"Let me go! [Mmph hi mmph!] I'm not crazy! [Mmph wei rye!]"

Sakura struggled harder as Hinata and the others held her tightly, especially after hearing Kakashi shamelessly shift blame onto her.

"Gaara, stay away from her from now on. Don't let her corrupt you," Temari warned while dragging Gaara away. The people from Konoha seemed far from normal; she had to make sure to protect her innocent little brother.

Chapter Two Hundred and Thirtieth: Wolfman and Tengu [Part One]

"You up there, where's Kiba Inuzuka? Hurry up and come down for your match!"

Hayate Gekko's voice rang in their ears. The group of playful youths immediately stopped what they were doing upon hearing it and looked downward toward the arena.

"Don't pretend you didn't hear me! I'm talking about you lot! Where's Kiba? Come down already for the match!"

Hayate Gekko was in a very bad mood. He'd hosted countless Chunin Exams before but never had one feel so frustrating. He hadn't gotten much spotlight anyway—nothing unusual for him—but this time the discomfort he endured surpassed the sum total from all previous exams combined.

This year's bunch of Konoha brats in the Chunin Exam were fighting like there was no tomorrow. It started off with Ino causing no damage at all to the arena, followed by Lee and Shikamaru whose fight caused minor damage. Then came Hinata and Neji's match which cracked the walls twice, followed by Choji Akimichi hammering the ground into a dusty mess. As for Tenten's most recent performance, Hayate didn't even want to talk about it—good grief, the Central Tower almost exploded!

Hayate shot an intensely resentful glance at Sakura and others, giving them chills down their spines.

"Kiba, it's your turn. Please don't destroy the arena again—otherwise, I think Examiner Hayate might really start pounding on your chest with his tiny fists!" Sakura said gravely as she reminded Kiba. Come to think of it, Kiba doesn't usually go for those big, splashy moves anyway, so maybe the arena stands a chance.

"I don't have a habit of demolishing houses!" Kiba twitched slightly at Sakura's remark. Her words reminded him of a certain blue-eyed dog back at his place—it looked quite handsome, except that it particularly enjoyed tearing apart furniture. Its owner got so angry once that he nearly sold it to a dog meat stand.

"Kiba Inuzuka! Do you even want to compete anymore?!" Hayate practically screamed. Had these kids no respect for authority? They could chat leisurely up there while ignoring him? Overcome with frustration, Hayate shouted louder than he ever had in his life, followed immediately by a lengthy coughing fit. "Cough! Cough! Cough!"

"Kiba, get down there quickly! See? You've nearly killed Examiner Hayate with anger! If you wait any longer, we might end up footing the hospital bill for him!" Without hesitation, Sakura literally tossed Kiba downwards—and Akamaru went flying too, still snoozing away inside Kiba's hoodie.

"Woof?!"

Caught mid-nap and suddenly thrown into motion, Akamaru barely regained consciousness when he felt himself rapidly falling. As soon as he came to, Akamaru saw his master face-down on the ground, staring up at two completely unimpressed figures—while he himself was standing right on his master's back.

It looked exactly like a crime scene—and Akamaru freaked out immediately. Oh please, his owner better not be dead—otherwise, who would take care of him? How would he find a girlfriend then or enjoy his good meals in peace?
