"A Prophecy is not something to scoff at, not even our gods do that" Jon Snow spoke with steely seriousness. "But there are no guarantees that a Prophecy would be fulfilled. One could argue that acting on the words of the Prophecy could fulfil them. Take the first Long Night into consideration, there were no prophecies about a hero wielding a flaming sword. A man stood up and made that his fate. Yet a second coming of the Long Night is Prophesized only because the Great Other lost in the first war. Had the Great Other not had a thirst for vengeance and lust for world domination, the prophecy of a second Long Night would never be fulfilled. And Tyrion another thing is that if you have a right answer to the system's question you may get the reward of being the best fighter in all of Weeteros let alone only being better than your brother so it's possible."
Tyrion and Rhaegar stared at the Jon Snow until he turned back towards the screen stopped paying attention to them. The two then stared at each other before looking away.
[At Castle Black, Jon is preparing to leave in the night and desert the Night's Watch; Sam is there to try to talk him out of it.]
"Jon" Ned warned.
"I know" Jon sighed. "Though since I will not be joining it won't matter right."
Ned could only nod his head in acceptance.
"They'll put out the word. They'll send out ravens. People will come after you. Do you know what happens to deserters?"
"Better than you do. I'm going to find my brother and put a sword through King Joffrey's throat."
[Jon rides his horse away from Castle Black, his horse kicking Sam to the ground as he was standing in the way. Ghost follows him out.]
[After a while Jon and Ghost are being chased by his fellow Night's Watch brothers through a forest not long after he left. During the chase, Sam hits his head on a tree branch and falls off his horse. The others and later Jon stop to assist him.]
"That's one way to stop you" Robb snorted in good humour. Jon wasn't going to leave him behind this time, that brought him wasn't going to leave him behind this time, that brought him happiness and confidence in himself. Jon was reliable and smart, Robb could use him if situations got bad once they returned.
"Is he dead?"
"No, he's not dead."
"Did we get him?"
"Come on, help me get him up."
[Pyp to Jon]
"We're taking you back to where you belong."
"I belong with my brother."
"But we're your brothers now."
"They'll kill you if they find out you've gone."
"They'll kill you if they know you came after me. Go back."
"Sam told us everything. We're sorry about your father."
"But it doesn't matter. You took the oath. You can't leave."
"I have to."
"You can't. You said the words."
"I don't care about -"
"You may not leave this time, Jon, but never think about breaking your oaths. The gods curse an oathbreaker in the worst way" Rickard Stark warned.
Jon wanted to argue that Jaime Lannister was not punished for breaking his oath, but decided to instead nod and keep his head down. He knew better than to break his oaths. His father taught him better.
[Sam, Pyp, and Grenn in unison, reciting the vows.]
"Hear my words and bear witness to my vow"
"Night gathers and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall live and die at my post."
"I am the sword in the darkness
"I am the sword in the darkness, the watcher on the walls, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all nights to come."
[Sam brings Longclaw to Jon, who accepts it.]
"It would be nice if you could have a Valyrian Steel sword this time around too" Robb whispered to Jon.
Jon nodded, not saying anything more.
[Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys is tending to Drogo and his wounds inside a yurt. Daenerys speaks Dothraki.]
"Do you remember our first ride, my sun and stars? If you are in there, if you haven't gone away, show me. You're a fighter. You've always been a fighter. I need you to fight now. I know you're very far away, but come back to me, my sun and stars."
Daenerys shifted a little in discomfort.
[We cut to Daenerys standing with her head pressing against Drogo's chest, now visibly more distressed and crying.]
"When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Then you shall return to me, my sun and stars."
[Daenerys kisses Drogo, then uses a pillow to smother him.]
"That is a kindness you did to him, Princess" Varys lowered his head.
Daenerys pursed her lips and nodded.
[In King's Landing, Yoren is taking Arya to safety, away from the city.]
"You're Arry now, hear me? Arry the orphan boy. No one asks an orphan too many questions, 'cause nobody gives three shits. What's your name?"
"Arry."
"Good" Ned sighed in relief. Arya was safe. Once she makes it safely back to Cat and Robb, they can plot to save Sansa. One less person for Robb to worry about.
"You've a long way to travel, and in bad company. I've 20 this time -men and boys all bound for the Wall. Your lord father gave me the pick of the dungeons, and I didn't find no little lordlings down there. This lot half of them would turn you over to the King quick as spit for a pardon. And the other half would do the same, except they'd rape you first. So keep to yourself - and when you piss, do it in the woods alone. You stay with this lot, boy. And stay or I'll lock you in the back of the wagon with these three."
Ned shivered at Yoren's words, his worries for Arya crawling back up.
[Arya bumps into a fat recruit, Hot Pie.]
"Watch yourself, midget."
"He's got a sword, this one."
"Oh fuck" Theon muttered. He hadn't said anything for a while now, but that didn't mean he wasn't worried for the Starks.
"What's a gutter rat like you doing with a sword?"
"Maybe he's a little squire."
"He ain't no squire. Look at him. He looks like a girl. I bet he stole that sword."
"Let's have a look."
"Hey!" Arya cried in outrage watching herself get wrestled to the ground. She'd kill that boy too, like the stable boy. She was protecting herself so it was okay.
"Give it here, midget."
"Look at him! You'd better give Hot Pie the sword. I've seen him kick a boy to death."
"I knocked him down and I kicked him in the balls and I kept kicking him until he was dead. I kicked him all to pieces. You better give me that sword!"
"Sure he did" Lyanna snorted. False bravado and nothing more.
[Arya Stark pointing Needle at Hot Pie]
"You want it? I'll give it to you. I already killed one fat boy. I bet you never killed anyone. I bet you're a liar. But I'm not. I'm good at killing fat boys. I like killing fat boys."
[Hot Pie bumps into Gendry.]
"Why am I there?" Gendry frowned.
"Maybe you wished to join the Watch?" Varys suggested.
"Never" Gendry shook his head.
"Then something must have happened to force you there. Perhaps a threat to your life?"
Gendry frowned. Who would want to kill him?
"You like picking on the little ones, do you? I've been hammering an anvil these past 10 years. When I hit that steel, it sings. Are you gonna sing when I hit you?
[Hot Pie leaves, scared. Gendry talks to Arya alone]
"This is castle-forged steel. Where'd you steal it?"
"It was a gift."
"It don't matter now. Where we're going, they don't care what you've done. They've got rapers, pickpockets, highwaymen, murderers."
"Which are you?"
"Armourer's apprentice. But my master got sick of me, so here I am."
"That explains then" Gendry muttered. Still... it felt off to him.
"Come on, you sorry sons of whores! It's a thousand leagues from here to the Wall, and winter is coming!
[The caravan of the Night's Watch leaves the walls of King's Landing.]
