Chapter 20 - DROPPING HINTS

Today was a cool, windy day. Aurora had been laying on her bed ever since she woke up 3 hours ago.

She was sleeping on the right side of the bed, and on the opposite side was Elliot, sleeping peacefully.

And in the middle was the small creature that is named "Dawn".

Aurora took a deep breath, feeling the air make a wave through her chest, which calmed her down.

"I love this… it's comfortable." Aurora muttered as she stared at both her loved ones as they sleep.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps woke Aurora from this calm and grateful state.

She heard slight muttering before she woke up to check it out.

Once she got out of the room, she carefully closed it behind her, making sure not to wake them up.

She then went into the living room, finding Natalie sitting down on the couch with her legs crossed, and her hair disheveled.

"Morning." Natalie greeted, she didn't even take her eyes off TV.

Aurora walked into the room, sitting down next to Natalie, she then looked towards the TV which was playing a series known to be very generic.

It was a romance series about an extremely attractive vampire and a normal girl, it is so unrealistic, especially considering the fact that the vampire isn't slaughtering the girl.

"You still watch this… hackneyed series?" Aurora asked, her tone was half-sarcastic.

"Yes, it's great, much better than what you call 'absolute cinema'" Natalie stated.

Aurora sighed and got up from the couch, marching towards the kitchen.

"Just because it's a weekend doesn't mean you should just leech off us" Aurora sighed, taking a few things from the cabinets above, "especially considering that this is our TV"

Natalie just stayed silent, but Aurora took a mug, poured some dark brown powder into the mug and put some water into the boiler before placing it in its place and turning it on.

"You do know it's disrespectful to not respond to someone, right?" Aurora stated, "Hence the reason why you always go from lover to lover."

"Look, this is a sensitive subject, okay?" Natalie finally responded, "But fine, yes, but I'm only staying here for a bit before I need to go back home."

Once the sound of boiling water spread across the kitchen and through the window on the wall that led to the living room, Aurora took the boiler and poured the water into the mug.

The smell of coffee permeating through the house, it was a great smell, cozy even.

"the best smell there is, probably more addicting than alcohol." Aurora giggled.

"Quick question but how did you get Elliot to actually acknowledge your feelings?" Natalie asked as she paused the series and looked at Aurora, "You never told me…"

"I guess I forgot to tell you huh… Well it started when…"

——————

It was just before the end of the second year of high school, it was a stressful year, but at least I grew closer to Elliot and Natalie.

Mainly Elliot though.

I walked into class, it was a revision week so not that many people attended, only me, Elliot, Natalie, and 3 more students.

Usually there are more than 20 or 25, so seeing the class THIS empty felt… uneasy.

But at least mister over-achiever here is not absent, I'm referring Elliot by the way, I know, it's ironic coming from me.

I sat in my usual desk, looking at my left, it was Ethan, I feel like the more I talk to or even look at him, the more I like him.

He just has this allure to him…

So I decided to make a few plans to get him to mostly acknowledge my feelings.

PLAN A: I begin folding a square piece of paper into a specific way that I learned on the internet, making a fortune teller.

Once I finished, I place it upside down, the place where I'm supposed to put my fingers in were pointing up.

I then look at Elliot, I felt a slight blush creep up my face.

"You know, it looks like a flower when it's like this…" I unconsciously gulped, feeling very nervous, like I'm gonna fail.

Elliot stared at it for a few moments, and I felt my chest getting heavier by the second.

"Oh! It does! That's cool." He said, smiling, but it made me wonder if he took the hint or not…

Lets just consider he didn't… I guess it's time for

PLAN B: I took back the paper fortune teller, then I wrote all the fortunes to be "there is someone in this room that likes you, could be the person in front of you… maybe…"

Then I looked at him, taking a deep breath and feeling a wave of slight calm wash over me.

"Choose a number." I ordered softly.

"Uhm… 7?" He guessed, I just opened fortune number seven and read the fortune to him.

"there is someone in this room that likes you, could be the person in front of you… maybe…" I read, feeling my voice almost start to shake.

"Oh wow! I wonder who it is… my guess is it's… no one actually, I don't think I'm dating material, not that I care anyway." He began just talking about why he doesn't think he's date-able so I zoned out for the most part.

The teacher walked in, so you know it's time to be serious, so I stopped, and started

PLAN C: occasionally glance at him, hoping he'd notice, though he might start thinking I'm weird instead.

I kept glancing, through the classes, through lunch, until school ended, heck I feel like I was the one who fell deeper instead…

Damn it!

I just went to Natalie instead of going home immediately as I always do, because I know as soon as I enter my home there is no escape, until I go back to school the next day because of the upcoming final exams.

"Elliot is an idiot… it even rhymes which cements this idea…" I sighed in resignation.

"Are you serious? Look, just think of any way to get him to like you, I don't care." She said with tired eyes, seems like she couldn't sleep.

Time for my final plan…

PLAN D: this is a multistage one so… hope it works, I take out a wrapped cookie that I got from the fridge at home, don't know why I felt the urge to bring it… Now I know why.

I walk towards Elliot who was already packing and then I hand it to him, he looks at me for a few seconds then the wrapped cookie, then me, then the cookie.

"Why are you giving me it?" As soon as he asked that my face flushed, OH NO! I DIDN'T THINK OF HIM QUESTIONING ME?! WHAT DO I RESPOND?!

"I had extra so I decided to give you one" I looked away, trying to look casual.

"Thanks!" He snatched the cookie and unwrapped it and immediately ate it, gobbling it down.

"I've noticed how much you've been interacting with me today, even glancing at me too, is there something wrong?" AND THERE HE GOES WITH ANOTHER UNEXPECTED QUESTION!

"I uh… uh…" I stammer, my face blushes and I put on my hoodie, pulling the strings so that it hides my face and I run out of class, my bag shaking as I run.

I then enter the girls bathroom, stopping in front of a mirror, I stare at my reddened face, then I bring my hand up to touch it, I look so… cute…

A smile creeps onto my face, and I walk out, having calmed down, I then walk towards class, even if school ended, and see that Elliot was already gone.

I guess he went home… I guess I'l l just tell him over text.

Maybe I won't… no idea at all to be honest.

So… I guess I'll just focus on my studies for now…
