Chapter 132 Sounding
Euron returned to the fleet in a fit of rage. His brother, Victarion, saw him return and was about to ask how his talk with Daenerys went when he saw Euron's frustrated expression. He quickly pretended not to have seen anything and turned to leave.
"Find someone to bring out the Dragon Horn and have them prepare to blow it!" Euron called out to Victarion as he was about to leave.
Upon hearing that the Dragon Horn was to be sounded, Victarion was slightly startled, for he had personally witnessed the fate of those who had sounded the Dragon Horn.
But he dared not disobey Euron's orders, especially since Euron was still angry.
Euron had already decided to arrange a marriage between Daenerys and Euron before he arrived. If she didn't agree, he would use his army and the Dragon Horn to force her to agree.
He never expected that Daenerys would be so stubborn and insist on fighting him. If he had known this would happen, he wouldn't have wasted so much breath and could have just conquered Meereen and made Daenerys submit.
He wouldn't see the mocking looks from Yara and the others. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, and he started planning how to torture Daenerys and her ministers after conquering Meereen.
In order to reduce the time needed to prepare for the defense of Meereen, Euron summoned the leaders of each squadron after returning to discuss how to attack Meereen.
The leaders hadn't expected them to actually attack, because before they arrived they almost shared Euron's idea that Euron would marry Queen Meereen and form an alliance between the two families. They hadn't expected Euron to break off negotiations with the Queen.
Before nightfall, five hundred warships pressed toward Meereen.
Near the city walls, the warships lined up on the sea, and catapults began to install incendiary bombs in preparation for the attack.
This time, Daenerys did not let Rhaegal and Viserion participate in the defense of the city. She dared not risk them until she understood the extent of the Dragon Horn's influence on dragons.
Seeing the catapults loading for the impending attack, Drogon flew off Daenerys's shoulder, grew larger, and spread his wings to fly towards Euron's fleet.
His purpose in going there was not to burn the warships, but to force Euron to use the Dragon Horn so that this unknown threat could be eliminated, allowing Rhego and Viserion to assist in the defense of the city.
Euron, who was directing the attack from the bow of the ship, was about to give the order to attack the city when he suddenly discovered that a huge black dragon had appeared on the walls of Meereen, which was three or four times larger than the other two dragons he had seen.
Daenerys has four dragons instead of three? Staring in astonishment at the enormous black dragon, Euron momentarily forgot to give the order.
When Zhuo Geng flew closer, he hurriedly waved his hand to order the catapults to attack. At this point, he could roughly see what Zhuo Geng looked like and immediately felt that he had seen him somewhere before.
Before he could figure it out, he was surprised to see Zhuo Geng's four claws, and stopped thinking about why Zhuo Geng looked familiar.
Seeing the intense greed in Drogon's eyes, he then retreated into the cabin and ordered his brother, Victarion, to have the Dragon Horn sounded.
Victarion was already prepared. As soon as Drogon's huge shadow swept overhead, he hurriedly brought out a massive black horn covered with golden magic runes.
The horn resembled a larger, headless pipe, nearly two meters in length from end to end, with a smooth, mirror-like surface. It was carried onto the deck by a burly man, shirtless and with a black bird tattooed on his chest.
Victarion glanced in the direction Drogon had flown off and hurriedly ordered the burly Clygon to sound the horn.
Clygon hesitated for a moment before holding the horn with his left hand and the mouthpiece with his right.
Ugh!
A deep, resonant blast emanated from the horn, while the runes on its surface shone brightly and flashed continuously.
Zhuo Geng, who was searching for a target in the sky, found the long cry extremely jarring and couldn't help but feel a sense of irritation.
He changed direction, flapped his wings, and flew toward the large ship from which the sound came.
hold head high!
hold head high!
Almost at the same moment, Rego and Viserion, who were waiting inside Meereen to go out and assist in the attack, let out a restless dragon roar.
As the horn continued to sound, Rego and Viserion went from agitated to violent, their expressions contorted with pain, and they nearly attacked the Unsullied soldiers in the distance.
"Rego! Viserion!" Seeing the two dragons' agitated expressions, Daenerys called out their names, trying to calm them down.
But they only paused for a moment before becoming restless again, their claws scratching the bluestone ground, their huge heads shaking violently, and flames rolling in their throats, as if they were about to spew them out at any moment, as if only in this way could they release the pain in their bodies.
Seeing the two dragons suffering and unable to release their torment, Daenerys was extremely anxious, but she couldn't come down from the city wall, so she could only call out their names to comfort them.
While comforting him, she kept glancing at Drogon's reaction on the distant sea, fearing that Drogon, like Rego and the others, would not be able to withstand the long roar of the Dragon Horn.
Not only Rego and Viserion were affected by the sound of the horn; everyone who heard it felt as if their blood was about to burn, and only deep breaths could relieve the burning sensation in their bodies.
Somewhat agitated, Drogon followed the sound and saw Clygon, who was puffing out his cheeks and blowing his horn with all his might.
He experienced the effects of the horn up close, but it only made him more anxious; it was still within his tolerance.
However, just because he could endure it didn't mean that Rego and the others could too; he had just heard their painful roars.
Drogon snatched the horn from Clygon's hand with a claw, but did not breathe dragonfire at Clygon, because he could tell that Clygon would not live much longer.
At this moment, Clyde's lips were covered with blisters, and he was spitting out blood that seemed to be boiling, bubbling and emitting a lot of heat.
Zhuo Geng had no idea what was happening inside his body, but he guessed that his internal organs were almost charred.
Clygon coughed up several more mouthfuls of bubbling blood before collapsing to the ground, his mouth still steaming even after he had stopped vomiting blood.
"The horn that controls the dragon is indeed not something that ordinary people can blow casually!"
Seeing the fate of Clygon after he blew the Dragon Horn, Drogon sighed inwardly.
Grasping the horn, he flew up and unleashed a burst of black dragonfire at the large ship beneath him.
He knew there were still people inside the cabin, and this was the consequence of trying to control them with the Dragon Horn.
Looking around, Zhuo Geng remembered that Euron seemed to be on one of the ships here.
Grabbing the Dragon Horn, he flew into the sky, circled around but couldn't find Euron. Just as Drogon was about to fly back to the city wall to have Rego and the others assist in defending the city, he suddenly caught a glimpse of a familiar figure behind the catapult of a large ship in the distance.
Euron was hiding behind the catapult, but he had already removed his black leather eye patch.
Zhuo Geng suddenly realized that his left eye was actually a black pupil with red eyes, just like the eyes on the flag of the large ship.
Euron, having removed his blindfold, did not avoid Zhuo Geng's gaze. Instead, he gave Zhuo Geng a strange smile, which, combined with his red eye, made Zhuo Geng very uncomfortable.
