"I do not understand," he admitted. "And forgive me if this sounds insensitive, but I must ask—why today? What is so significant about today that it would cause such a change?"
Aurelia's composure faltered. A faint blush crept across her cheeks, and for a moment, she looked away, clearly struggling with how to respond.
"Uh…" she began, then stopped.
Aldric raised a brow.
"'Uh' is not an answer, Aurelia," he said dryly. "You will have to do better than that." Aldric said slowly, narrowing his eyes.
"Do not tell me you suddenly find yourself unable to speak. That expression alone tells me there is something you are not saying."
She coughed lightly, looking away.
"It is not that I cannot speak," she murmured. "It is simply that… I am deciding how best to say it."
Aldric raised a brow.
"Then perhaps you should begin by saying it plainly."
