MHGA Chapter 247 – Adam Smasher's Crushing Onslaught
The Wyvern's Fire from the Gunlance roared into action under David's command.
That weapon, modeled after the breath attack of monsters, erupted with intense propulsion, launching David high into the sky.
"ADAM SMASHERRRR!!!"
David howled as he turned into a streaking meteor above Night City, diving straight at Adam Smasher.
Meanwhile... inside that Arasaka Corp factory, Maine's crew had already cleared it with deft skill and precision.
"Arasaka's really in deep shit this time," Pilar remarked, standing by the conveyor belt, tossing a few factory-made components in the air nonchalantly. "They went down way too easy…"
"No backup at all, seriously?" Dorio's expression held a trace of unease. "What the hell is going on…"
"What's it matter! We just shut down a crappy Arasaka factory. Arasaka doesn't even know who we are. They've got so many mercs to deal with, how could they handle all of us?" Pilar scoffed with indifference. "What, you think Adam Smasher's gonna come down here and handle us himself?"
"Oi! Bro, what kind of dumbass shit are you even saying?" Rebecca snapped, arguing with her brother. "What about Adam Smasher? He's just a tin-can whi—"
Before Rebecca could finish, a strange sound rang out from the factory roof.
The very next moment, the roof above the parts assembly line shattered violently. From the raining debris fell a being made almost entirely of steel.
Adam Smasher's metallic body crashed down like a meteor. The factory's roof, over ten meters high, disintegrated under the impact shockwave—its steel support beams snapped like dead twigs.
Maine's team barely dodged the largest debris, pulling back rapidly, only to find themselves staring at the artificial steel colossus standing in the massive crater.
Arasaka's brutal idol—an alloy exoskeleton encasing 96% of cyberized flesh, its armor seams exposing twisted coolant tubing like throbbing mechanical veins. The head retained only a faint trace of humanity, its crimson cyber-eye burning with cold datastream light from deep within its socket.
This was a coffin of steel—for the legends of Night City.
"You little... fuckin' rats."
Adam Smasher's mocking voice echoed as he surveyed Maine's crew. "Trash not even fit for an appetizer…"
"Hmph… Looks like I'll get a decent performance out of you after all. But I don't need all of you." Adam Smasher's cyber-eye locked onto Lucy. "One will be enough."
"Shit! You damn bastard, you need to go gargle some toilet water with that mouth!!" Rebecca shouted back without hesitation.
"Don't just stand there! Move!!" Maine roared. "If we don't fight, we all die here!"
"Shit! Is this a fucking boss spawn?!" Pilar cursed as he pulled out an EMP grenade—only for his right hand to suddenly fall off. Adam Smasher had already cleaved through his cyberarm with a strike, rendering it a sparking, smoking wreck.
Rebecca exploded with rage: "You motherfuc—!!!"
Gripping a heavy firearm clearly oversized for her petite frame, Rebecca nearly lost her balance firing it—but she managed to unleash a salvo toward Adam Smasher. He didn't even bother dodging. He simply took the hit head-on.
The rest of Maine's team sprang into action.
Maine's titanium knuckles smashed into Adam's chestplate, the feedback force cracking the bones in his arm. Yet the black mech didn't even flinch. It raised its hand and blasted away Dorio's mounted gun, sending metal shards slicing her face.
Then Adam shattered Maine's shoulder with a brutal punch and sent him flying with a kick to the gut.
After her failed shot, Rebecca repositioned herself—smoke still rising from her gun's barrel. But without warning, Adam Smasher appeared right before her. A single punch shattered three of her ribs, launching her into a heap of spare parts.
Pilar drew a blade and slashed—Adam caught it barehanded. Hydraulic joints screamed like beasts as he hurled Pilar across the room. Kiwi had just breached a triple-layered firewall when she realized a counterattack had already begun. She dropped to her knees, blood spraying from her nose onto the ground.
Outside the factory, Falco sensed something was wrong. He floored the gas and rammed the vehicle through the factory entrance.
The armored vehicle's engine howled its death cry. Falco twisted the wheel, aiming to strike—Adam Smasher flipped the three-ton vehicle with one hand, hurling both Falco and the car aside.
Lucy's monowire flashed in the rain, wrapping around Adam's mech neck. But in an instant, the silver-haired girl was yanked into the air. Adam's crimson eye stared inches from her pale face, metallic fingers gripping her carotid artery. From afar came the dull boom of Maine crashing through a concrete wall.
"You're the one."
Adam Smasher focused on Lucy. "Hmph?"
His scan quickly identified the augmentations on her body—and the unmistakable traces of Arasaka tech.
"So you're an Arasaka puppet… A damned data slave that ran off on her own." Adam Smasher sneered with cruel amusement, the monowire still caught around his neck.
But as he moved, the monowire not only failed to cut through—it began to tighten, slicing into Lucy's fingers instead.
"If that's the case, I'll let you serve one final purpose." Adam's grip tightened on Lucy's throat. The shoulder-mounted turret lifted, targeting the rest of Maine's team.
He was about to eliminate the rest of the "extras."
"You… you came here because of me?" Lucy choked out the words.
Had Arasaka discovered her past? Was that why Adam Smasher had come?
Thank god… David wasn't here right now. Maybe Doc could save him…
"A data slave? What a joke." Adam Smasher scoffed coldly. "Hmph… if I rip you apart in front of them, you'll be far more useful than any damn slave."
"!"
Lucy's eyes widened in disbelief.
Not because of her? Then why the hell did Adam Smasher…?
At that moment, from the skies above, another explosion and a furious roar rapidly approached.
"ADAM SMASHERRR!!!"
"I'M GONNA SHOVE THIS GUN… RIGHT BACK UP YOUR ASS!!!!!!"
