MHGA Chapter 346 – The Might of the Shagaru Magala
The instant Kairo Retsu sensed something off in the eyes of the Shagaru Magala, it suddenly dove straight toward Setsuna Shizaki.
Kairo Retsu's expression changed sharply. He immediately grabbed Naofumi Iwatani and charged forward. "Himmel! Get Setsuna Shizaki out of here!!"
He entrusted the protection of Setsuna Shizaki to the strongest person present—Himmel—while he and Naofumi Iwatani confronted the Shagaru Magala head-on.
Without hesitation, Himmel scooped up Setsuna Shizaki and evacuated the area… As an ordinary human, even the slightest injury could prove fatal to her.
However, just as Kairo Retsu and Naofumi charged to intercept the Shagaru Magala, what greeted them was a ball of Frenzy Virus conjured and slammed forth by its wingclaws.
The unleashed Frenzy Virus instantly crossed the distance between them, exploding before either of them could react.
The violent explosion grievously injured Kairo Retsu in a heartbeat. The massive blast made it feel as if his internal organs had been shattered.
And after unleashing that devastating Frenzy Virus blast, the Shagaru Magala didn't hesitate—it charged straight toward the fleeing Setsuna Shizaki in Himmel's arms.
"Urgh————————"
Kairo Retsu tried to speak, but as he opened his mouth, he instead coughed up a mouthful of blood mixed with fragments.
"Hey! Hunter!"
Yuya's face changed when he saw Kairo Retsu's condition, realizing his internal organs were damaged. But watching the Shagaru Magala sweep overhead in pursuit of Setsuna Shizaki, Yuya raised his blade and summoned a giant ice pillar to block its path.
Yet the seemingly solid ice pillar was shattered as easily as a sandcastle on the shore by the Shagaru Magala. That display alone made the other Constructs realize the Shagaru Magala's strength was far beyond their expectations.
"Don't engage!!!"
Blood still dribbled from Kairo Retsu's lips as he shouted hoarsely, "Don't confront it head-on…"
Despite his warning, before the words even left his mouth, Rui Kanoya had already piloted his giant mecha—tens of meters tall—into the air to block the Shagaru Magala's path.
From his perspective, his machine was the largest present, and thus the most likely to halt the dragon's advance.
If he could just restrain it like he had done with the Gore Magala earlier…
Rui Kanoya poured all his focus into maneuvering the mecha, attempting to grasp the Shagaru Magala. The enormous machine nearly enveloped the dragon in a full embrace.
But in the very next moment, the mecha was struck by the beast's wingclaws—those thick limbs tore the giant frame apart.
Opening its maw toward the rift it had just created, the Shagaru Magala unleashed a concentrated torrent of Frenzy Virus directly into the mecha's interior.
The virus quickly spread throughout the machine's body, surging even into the cockpit.
The dark purple Frenzy Virus brought Rui Kanoya face-to-face with the threat of death.
Driven by combat instincts, Rui Kanoya immediately activated the emergency eject system, launching the cockpit out of the sundered machine.
And in that moment of ejection, a Frenzy Virus explosion erupted inside the mecha, mirroring the one just earlier.
The enormous robot—tens of meters tall—was defeated in an instant, unable to even slow the Shagaru Magala for twenty seconds.
Rakuro Hizutome and Tanjiro Kamado leapt into action the moment the cockpit ejected. The cockpit, still trailing traces of Frenzy Virus as it broke free from the machine, was their target.
Although Rui Kanoya could pilot a giant robot in battle, without it he was still just a teenager… At such a high concentration of Frenzy Virus exposure, his life was genuinely in danger.
Kairo Retsu endured the pain as he poured a Recovery Potion down his throat.
He estimated… Among everyone present, those capable of surviving a direct confrontation with the Shagaru Magala could be counted on less than one hand.
But… why was the Shagaru Magala targeting Setsuna Shizaki?
Kairo Retsu didn't understand, but he had some guesses.
A body reconstructed by magic, resurrection by a goddess, and a core of conceptual recognition.
One of these three—at least one—had to be why the Shagaru Magala was after Setsuna Shizaki.
But what now? How could they protect her and defeat the Shagaru Magala?
Temporarily retreat from this world, make preparations, and return to hunt it down?
Impossible. The flow of time in this world was synchronized with the Gathering Hub because of the Shagaru Magala's presence. While the Hunters might return to the Hub, Setsuna Shizaki, as its target, could not.
Call in the Felynes to build Dragonators and other anti-Elder Dragon weaponry?
No use. Not to mention the time required to assemble them—an Elder Dragon's intelligence would never allow such a threat to be constructed unchecked.
Force a siege now?
Impossible. This Shagaru Magala's power far exceeded Kairo Retsu's expectations. The explosion alone had nearly killed him—had Naofumi not helped shield some of the blast, he would've been carted off already…
If they fought head-on, countless of their irreplaceable, non-revivable allies would die.
"What now? What do we do? There has to be a way!" Kairo Retsu thought frantically.
But the Constructs had already realized what the Shagaru Magala intended.
"Wait! You can't stop it!" Kairo Retsu cried out, "You all saw what happened—Rui Kanoya's giant mecha was destroyed instantly. Let Himmel buy us time for now!"
"Hunter-san."
Cereja, piloting her magical armor, spoke up. "The birdcage only covers a limited range…"
She looked toward the distant Himmel, moving as quickly as possible while carrying Setsuna Shizaki. "At this rate, that dragon will catch up to her soon. If we don't act…"
"I know! I KNOW…"
Kairo Retsu gritted his teeth and shouted, "Just focus on survival—buy time by harassing it. I know the Shagaru Magala best! I'll figure something out!!"
Almost as soon as Kairo Retsu said those words, the Constructs charged forth. Even Hika Yumehoshi, heroine of the dating sim world, joined the group trying to impede the Shagaru Magala.
And among those present, the one who cared most about Setsuna—
Altair.
Was already charging forward in fury, placing herself directly in the dragon's path.
"What are you trying to do… to Setsuna!!!!"
