Chapter 84 - "Freya's Devotion, Norren's Agony"

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In the Town's Most Luxurious Hotel

Because of Norren, the entire place had long been abandoned.

Creak—

Edgar pushed open the door to the top suite and casually tossed Norren onto the carpet.

Then he headed straight for the shower.

The Star Spirit's eyelids twitched."Um… Master, I'll be next door. Call me if you need anything."

With that, she vanished in a flash of light.

When Edgar finally came out, Freya was already waiting for him—gently drying his hair with a towel.

"Master, now that even Norren's been defeated, I doubt Father will sit still for long," she said softly.

Edgar smirked, sinking into the sofa."Why do you think I came here in the first place?"

"...You mean—"

"That 'King' of yours was my real target all along."

"Even so, you have to be careful," Freya murmured.

"Don't worry."

Edgar smiled faintly, tilting her chin upward with one hand."But tell me—if I end up killing him, would you really not care?"

"Would it matter if I did?" Freya's eyes gleamed with excitement at his words.

Edgar stared at her for a moment, expression blank.Seriously… that's what she took from that?

"You don't have to worry, Master," she said with a small smile. "It doesn't matter if you kill him. Because I'm certain that monster isn't my father anymore."

In her heart, that thing had long ceased to be "Father." It was just a creature wearing his name.

"That's good," Edgar said with a nod. "Otherwise, if you begged me, I might've considered sparing him."

Freya's eyes softened with emotion. She leaned forward as if about to move closer—but Edgar stopped her with a hand.

"Enough of that. Let's deal with the spoils first."

"Oh…" Freya pouted a little but obediently turned toward Norren.

Smack!

Her hand lashed out, leaving a pink handprint across Norren's cheek.

"—Tch!"

The sting jolted Norren awake. She glared at Edgar, eyes full of fury, ready to attack.

"Norren, don't be naughty," Freya said sweetly—and in an instant, she slammed her younger sister to the ground.

Though Norren was known as a tactical genius, when it came to strength, she was utterly hopeless.Against her sister, now a full-fledged demon, she didn't stand a chance.

"Freya, you worthless wretch!" Norren shouted, struggling beneath her. "Even if you've been corrupted by dark magic, you can't just throw away who you are!"

"What are you talking about, Norren?" Freya smiled, eyes half-lidded with devotion. "Everything I've done—I chose it myself."

Then she turned toward Edgar, bowing her head with reverence."Master, please… make Norren one of your familiars too."

Seeing her like that made Norren's face twitch in disbelief. She didn't even know what a "familiar" truly was, but every instinct in her body screamed danger.

She thrashed wildly, energy flaring—but she couldn't break free from Freya's grasp.

To Edgar, the scene was… something else entirely. A dark, beautiful feast for the eyes.

"Fine," he said at last, a small grin tugging at his lips. Golden blood welled from his fingertip.

Freya's eyes lit up. With a single motion, she tore open her sister's outer garment, revealing her pale skin.

Edgar didn't hesitate—he let a drop of his blood fall onto Norren's body.

Buzz—

A dark crimson magic circle flared to life. The heart-shaped core pulsed once, then dissolved into streams of ancient runes.

"Mmh—!"

Norren gasped, eyes widening. Her body burned from within, every cell transforming in a surge of chaotic power.

What's happening to me?My body… it's changing… growing stronger?What… is a familiar?

Countless questions flashed through her mind.

Meanwhile, Edgar's gaze turned distant—reading the words that appeared before him.

[Name]: Norren Kratalisa Gio

[Race]: Demon

[Master]: Edgar Lucifergus

[Level]: LV15

[Skill: War Aura]

[War Aura]: In a certain range, grants allies a power boost.

So it's a support-type ability, huh?

Edgar rubbed his chin, eyes glinting faintly.

From the description, it only mentions a range limit, not a number limit. That fits Noren's role perfectly — in a way, it's almost tailor-made for her.

"W–what's happening to me?!"

Noren stared in horror at the black wings and tail that had burst from her body. She was completely shaken.

"Noren," Freya said with a teasing smile, "because you're my sister, I'll give you a bit of advice."

"Stop resisting."

"Embrace your new life — you'll find a whole new you."

Right now, she genuinely felt that becoming a demon was amazing.

Without relying on a staff, she could cast high-tier spells effortlessly.

And beyond that… an entire new world was calling to her.

Compared to that vast unknown, this world suddenly felt so small.

"Are you kidding me?! You insane freak — don't drag me into your madness! That man… I'll make him—"

Before Noren could finish, the punishment of the contract struck without mercy.

"AAAAAAHHHH!!"

A gut-wrenching scream tore from her throat as her body twisted in agony, unable to escape Freya's grasp.

"Let her go."

"Yes, my lord."

Freya obediently stepped back, excitement flickering in her eyes.

She'd been drenched in the storm before — now she wanted to see someone else soaked through.

"You… what did you do to me?! What kind of spell— I swear I'll— AHHH!"

"It's not a spell," Edgar replied calmly, rising from the couch and looking down at her. "Just a contract."

"For someone as smart as you, I'm sure you've already realized it — every time you harbor hostile thoughts toward me… the punishment hits, doesn't it?"

"I… I can't control it. Please, give me some time to adjust. You can trust me!"

A flash of malice passed through Noren's eyes — she was trying to deceive him.

"You and your sister are really easy to read," Edgar said with a small smile. "Still, I'm not completely without mercy."

"I'll give you a chance to end your own suffering."

Smack! Smack! Smack!

Several sharp slaps echoed through the room.

"I think you understand what you need to do now."

Noren flinched back, trembling. She swallowed hard. "N-No way… I'm a royal princess! I can't possibly throw away my pride and— AHHHH!"

Her defiance lasted only seconds before she collapsed to the floor, begging for mercy.

Edgar sighed, lips curling slightly.

That might've been the fastest submission he'd ever seen from a new familiar. This princess's pride was all talk.

He didn't even move, just said quietly,"Then… ask for my forgiveness."

Noren looked up at him instinctively.

She had no other choice now.

You damn commoner… I'll make you pay for this someday!

Her mind screamed in fury, but each surge of rage only brought fresh waves of pain.

Her emotions crashed like waves, one after another, until—

Edgar sighed softly. "Honestly… compared to Freya, you're pretty disappointing."

Those words sliced straight into Noren's heart.

"How could I… be worse than that trash?!"

She gritted her teeth, forcing out a burst of energy — but it was all for show.

The next instant, she was thrown back, dizzy and broken.

In the end, she was never much of a fighter.Even as a demon, she was still… weak.

"..."
