After the first tornado, the second and third followed.
Each tornado contained Marquis Voban's understanding of the Authority of controlling wind and rain.
If the first tornado dealt purely physical damage,
Then the second, with arcs of electricity constantly flashing within it, was clearly infused with the concept of lightning, one of the storm's powers.
But that was not all.
The third tornado was entirely ice blue. Its extreme low temperature sent ice shards flying and caused heavy snow to blanket the sky.
Rin did not pay much attention to the tornadoes themselves. What concerned him more was how Voban had developed and refined his Authorities.
Logically, Voban was not someone who would devote effort to deepening a single Authority.
He should have been the type to win through sheer quantity.
He would obtain new Authorities in large numbers, unleash them one after another, and secure victory that way.
Yet his current fighting style felt less like his own and more like Luo Hao's.
Was not the Martial Arts King the Campione who preferred to deeply explore the potential of her Authorities?
Rin had not forgotten his purpose in fighting a Campione.
He aimed to seize new Authorities from them and, through those Authorities, plunder the Ultimate Skill of a certain pantheon.
However, to achieve that goal, he first had to force Voban to use all his Authorities.
Like choosing merchandise, he wanted to see the full display before deciding what he needed.
He had already understood Voban's strategy.
First, use the Authority of Call Wind and Summon Rain to create a domain. Then rely on minimal consumption to continuously wear down his magic power.
Once Rin could no longer unleash powerful Authorities, Voban would strike with a fatal blow and secure victory.
"Too bad, you are overthinking."
Rin looked at the tornado before him, raised his hand, and made a grasping motion in the air.
"I have seen enough of these two Authorities. It is time to increase the intensity."
"Boom."
"What?"
To Voban's astonishment, the first tornado that had been rushing toward Rin stopped without warning.
"Your idea is good, but…"
"When did you start believing that I could not control the storm?"
As his voice fell, Rin extended his will toward the other tornadoes, as well as the dark clouds above and the surrounding wind and rain.
"How is this possible?!"
Voban found it hard to comprehend. Rin was actually competing with him for control over the storm domain.
"Hell, Heaven, and now the storm…"
For a moment, Voban felt confused. He had no idea how Rin had accomplished this.
They were clearly different systems, yet Rin could control all of them.
Based on what he knew so far, Rin had summoned the three headed hellhound and opened a magnificent Path to Hell. That was undoubtedly the power of the Greek underworld.
After that, holding a golden sword, he opened the gates of Heaven and summoned an army of angels from Hebrew mythology.
And now, he was displaying the Authority to control storms.
A single Authority, even if it covered multiple fields, could not possibly span different mythological systems.
"Kid, what exactly is your Authority?"
Voban realized something he had overlooked. From beginning to end, Rin had not recited a single incantation.
An Authority could indeed be used without chanting.
But that would only activate its most basic form.
To truly unleash its full power, one had to chant mythological incantations, just as Voban had done.
"Rather than worrying about that…"
Rin looked up, faint lightning flickering in his eyes.
"You should think about how to escape the next attack."
"What?!"
Before Voban could react, an overwhelming torrent of lightning descended from the dark clouds.
The thunder was so powerful that even he had to avoid taking it head on.
"In the name of the deity who imparts forbidden wisdom, I command."
"Come forth, grimoire of inscribed taboo knowledge. From my desire, evoke the mysterious and turn miracles into reality."
An ancient grimoire appeared in his hand. From it, numerous magic circles unfolded, surrounding him to withstand the devastating lightning.
In that instant, Rin successfully seized control of the storm domain.
The next moment, more than a dozen swirling tornadoes shifted under his control and completely trapped Voban.
"Rumble!"
Dense lightning rained down from the sky. Combined with the cage of tornadoes, it was as if Voban had been thrown into a terrifying lightning prison, forced to endure relentless and violent attacks.
"Huh?"
Rin glanced at the grimoire in Voban's hand.
Lightning fell like a curtain of rain. Each strike left a crater nearly one hundred meters wide upon the ground.
Yet despite such terrifying power, even with hundreds of strikes landing upon the magic circles around him, Voban remained unmoved.
Fortunately, Rin could clearly sense that his magic power was steadily decreasing.
That meant he was far from as relaxed as he appeared.
"This brat!"
Seeing himself pushed into a disadvantage, Voban's eyes turned crimson with fury.
"Wooo!"
He put away the grimoire, no longer suppressing the killing intent in his heart.
Letting out a long howl toward the sky, his body began to swell as if inflated.
"Roar!"
Thick claws shattered the lightning and tore apart the surrounding storm. A black werewolf over one hundred meters tall stood between heaven and earth like a demonic god from ancient times, exuding overwhelming killing intent.
"Is this the Demonic Wolf Transformation mentioned in the original story?"
However, in terms of size, the giant wolf before him was clearly more than twice what Rin remembered.
It approached one hundred and fifty meters in height. Just standing there was enough to create immense pressure.
Not to mention the terrifying destructive power contained within that massive body.
"More spectacle than substance."
Rin gave his evaluation.
To be honest, he did not like this kind of unexplained gigantism.
Without sufficient defensive measures, a larger body only increased the area of impact and turned one into a living target.
(To be continued.)
